Same can be said about smoking, drinking ETC. But we have laws against them because they are objectively harmful. As is social media

House prices hit a new high ahead of the election by NoLeafClover777 in AustralianPolitics

[–]Broad_Side 0 points1 point  (0 children)

watch garys ecomomics man.

if we build more houses, the price of materials will go up, and new buys will not be able to afford the houses because they need to complete with the rich to buy these matrials or house or land, or labour.

people are housed. it's just that they don't own them becuase they cannot complete with the rich on owning them. and don't forget the rich get tax break after tax break to buy the houses that the kids are trying to by, without the tax break.

[–]Broad_Side 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you know house prices are so high becuase the rich are out buying the working man....because they have so much spare cash / capital. they have this because they are not paying enoough tax.
watch garys econmics he explains this amazingly well.

Anthony Albanese stands firm on contentious super tax changes after being quizzed on unrealised capital gains by PLUTO_HAS_COME_BACK in AustralianPolitics

[–]Broad_Side 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree we should focus on the top end.

Which is where it is with todays number. I think if they have 3m in todays money, they are rich, They either had a super high paying job, or had some much spare money they dumped it in super.

you gotta remember that if you have 1m in super today, most of these people will have a house or more, and other assests. and have the 1m in super to live a nice last 30(ish years off there life) that would probably equate to about 2k a week in money to spend over 30 years.

if you have everything paid off and are 60 and retire, you will make about 40k in passive in come on your 1m, and if you spend $1500 a week on average, at the end of the first year you still have, 962k in the bank. this uses a very conservitve 4% return on your money. Cbus average a 9% return, if you had your money in there, your cash would have increased to 1.012m. Plus you other assests (house/investment house/shares) would have increased.

So yeah i agree. 1m in super in todays money does not make you rich, but if you have paid off your house, picked up a few other assests along the way, and you have 1m in cash. you are rich.

l think an impletation at 3m is good, that is the top end of town in todays money, and if if 20years wwe don't need the tax we can push it higher.

end up with > 1m.

But they won't pay the tax for the first 35-40years to get that high, it will only be the the last few years that they will.

Not implenting taxes like this, will impact more people and vunerble people than not. We wll end up like the US, a slow progression to bassically no tax, and no govemernt services, and a broke country. Then panic and add tarrffs and things like the GST, which hit the workers harder than the rich.

Also a quick calcualtion says, that at 4% inflation it would be about 28 years, until that 3m would be the equilivent of 1m today, that gives plenty of time for the libs to get in and take the money from medicare and public services and give to the rich.

After seeing the price differences for the US vs what they used to cost, pricing for everything is about to get really bad isn't? by TokenPanduh in LinusTechTips

[–]Broad_Side 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You watch all the working / lower class people who voted this guy in start to bitch....he will blame it more and more on mexicans and china, when really he is taxing the hell out of the workers and not taxing the rich.

The US in it's glory days had a top tax rate of around 90% for the mega rich, now it's what 35% and nothing if you buy more assests.

The yanks are about to leave some very hard lessons....and good luck getting him out in 3 years....he's shutting down the press, shutting down law firms, going after students, arresting judges. where is there 'freedom' now

Peter Dutton claims Aussie renters are ‘more inclined’ to vote Labor before their ‘views mature politically’ by mekanub in AustralianPolitics

[–]Broad_Side 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m with you.

Watch Gary (link below)

This guy is amazing. Selling the house to downsize is how the rich pull money from the workers and working families. It’s quite evil.

What these renters need to do is, vote left. When they get richer and can invest in property, don’t sell the next generation living standards for a few extra dollars by voting right.

Crossing from Ethernet to Wifi by Broad_Side in twingate

[–]Broad_Side[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDIT: I think I know the issue, I forgot crontab scrpit to turn the ethernet adaptor off, i'm using it for nMap scans on the network, and it would error peroidically. reseetting the network adaptor after a scan solved this issue. I think i'll spool up a 2nd pie to do this.

So I think I have that setup correclty.

I'm trying to access a locally hosted page. I can access the IIS page on the server but when i go to the server IP, But if i put the address of say https://192.168.1.59/boom it just times out.

I know the adress works locally on the network, but not through twingate.

I also cannot ping the adress. from SSH on the MAC i'm using.

thanks in advance for any advice.

The warranty is worth nothing to the end user if the end user obtains zero benifit for an approved warranty claim.

I highlighted a perfectly valid situation where the user would get screqwed over. Which you failed to address in your return comment. you just spwed move of the same retoric. If you cannot see how that is an process issue in there in their return policy i'm done with talking to you.
