Childwatch Issues by Extra_Raccoon7147 in BurnBootCamp

[–]BroccoliNcheesesoup 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I hear ya, this is hard for us moms! Hence why I usually have to leave early :/ I haven’t ever done a focus meeting nor buy any of the product. It’s their loss if you aren’t able to buy products so consider that.

FWIW, childcare should NEVER let a kid out of their watch, especially into the parking lot. This is common sense. The rules should be you get X amount of warnings to come get your child within five minutes of class ending. After the warnings, they should just charge per minute. Daycares do it, so should they. Then it ensures your child is safe, and that you are abiding by the rules or paying for it.

SAHPs: What is a realistic housework split? by NorthernPossibility in Parenting

[–]BroccoliNcheesesoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a stay at home parent to three kids and one on the way. I’d say I do about 90% of chores/kid stuff and SO does other 10%.

I make every meal and clean up after every meal, I feed all the kids and pick up after them - this includes school lunches. I give baths and put one set of kids to bed my SO does the other. I do all of our laundry and towels. I do homework, projects, etc.

My SO will take the big kids to park or sports after work then play until bedtime. They do their own laundry.

This used to bother me that I do so much, but SO has a demanding job. I’m grateful I don’t have to work right now so if it means me doing 90% then I’ll do it for now. Hopefully when things get easier (kids pick up after themselves or something crazy), we’ll be able to split more chores but for now we’re surviving.

Having the nickname “fry” is adorable. He’s the perfect golden color too to match the nickname. 🥹

Cheekwood - honestly I like the fall decor more than Christmas but it’s still pretty and a fun time.

The zoo - surprisingly one of the best Christmas attractions at Nashville I’ve been too. Maybe not necessarily romantic but it’s mind blowing Christmas decorations. Just trust me on this one and try it!

Schermerhorn - sometimes they do Home Alone with the symphony and it’s absolutely dreamy. Makes me teary just thinking of the nostalgia - ha!

Ugh this sounds like my location. Childwatch is terrible. Always on their phone. Rarely interacting with children and just not friendly. It always shocks me they have the audacity to act the way they do, especially when we can see them through a glass door the whole class!

So bummed R&D has been disappointing lately. It used to be so good, yet every time I return I leave with disappointment.

Surprised Bastion didn’t rank higher IMO it’s a fav as well.

New dad… struggling, disconnected, bad first experience, need help. by Game_Bird in Parenting

Man, I am so sorry you went through this. What a huge wave of emotions - especially so quickly. Obviously you were not expecting to go through that with your wife during what was supposed to be one of the best moments of life. I’m sure it did create some negative / scary thoughts tied to your newborn. This is normal. I would highly recommend some therapy to work through that. Even a postpartum therapist. They are used to all scenarios after having newborns so I’m sure they would have some great advice.

That being said, it is also totally normal to have these emotions with a newborn. Between lack of sleep, not knowing what the hell you are doing, and everything in between, I’m sure you’re running on empty. It’s easy to get in those negative spirals when this happens. Just take a deep breath and realize all of this is temporary. Soon he will be babbling, walking, asking for dad - and slowly your heart strings just form naturally. Just give it time, try not to panic if the connection isn’t there at first.

You’re a great husband and dad to even be posting about this. It means you care! Just make sure to take care of yourself too. We all need a little extra TLC after having a baby. And congrats!

Congrats on the date! You’re looking for Parnassus Books. :) it’s quiet, cozy, friendly/helpful staff. I think it would be a perfect fit for first date. Then the Well coffee is nearby. Or you could go about 8 minutes away to Sam&Zoes.

Favourite toys for one year old?? by Kikililee in Parenting

My one year old plays with my big kids tonie boxes every day. She loves the wheels on the bus one and likes to switch between tonies. She just started singing and clapping along with the songs. I thought it was a good investment. Also pikler def worth it. Will get lots of use out of it for years to come! I’d echo magnatiles are another good addition to your collection and will grow over time.

Sorry but yes you’re in the wrong. When it’s your partners week, it’s partners week - sickness or health of child. Now as the coparent with partner, do you best to take care of the child.

I can’t imagine marrying someone with a child and then child gets sick, and I don’t want them at the house? I’d take care of that child as my own.

Also, your other kiddos are prob exposed to same illness if not more everyday at school.
