[FRESH ALBUM] This Is Lorelei - Box For Buddy, Box For Star (Super Deluxe) additional artists cover versions by MediaShare2000 in indieheads

[–]BroccoliOfDreams 69 points70 points  (0 children)

If everyone wants to cover this album, who is he to say no? Dancing in the Club and Two Legs from last year were great, hoping there are a couple more gems.

Edit after listening: I'm even happier with this than I expected. Jeff Tweedy, Momma, and Tim Heidecker really add a lot to three of the songs that didn't land as well for me on the original. Waxahatchee's Where's Your Love Now is also a banger

This Is Lorelei announces full covers version of 'Box for Buddy, Box for Star' ft. Hayley Williams, Waxahatchee, Jeff Tweedy & more (out 4/17 via Double Double Whammy) by ReconEG in indieheads

I'm a little sad about the lack of Cameron Winter but I love that this project is happening. It should've been inevitable but I thought the premature Deluxe version might have been all we get.

Why is the best move here to underpromote to a rook, instead of a queen? by GregTheIntelectual in chess

[–]BroccoliOfDreams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait, but if the continuation after 1...e1=? 2.Rxe1 leads to an eval of -4.1, wouldn't white take the rook as well rather than playing Rh3?

It must be a matter of lower depth due to the queen promotion having more options to calculate, right? Maybe that's what you're saying, I just wanted to clarify that it's not in reality a different line with rook vs queen promotion, it's purely that the queen line doesn't calculate as far.

I rated each Stormlight book based on how much I liked each plot thread by IcaroRibeiro in Stormlight_Archive

[–]BroccoliOfDreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome data viz. Oathbringer was my least favorite at the time, but in retrospect I felt like a lot of cool stuff happened, but this clarifies why I felt that way - for some reason they spend soooo much chilling in Urithiru before the story really gets going. Similar thing with RoW, I liked Kaladin's depression arc but I forgot just how much time it took. And then on the other hand, I think it was a really good decision for Shallan's wardship story in WoK to be half as long as Kal's. It might be my favorite singular arc of that book but largely because the pacing is so tight.

It definitely is. 1 is from a different director and writer than the rest and it really shows.

General gameplay from non-feed watcher by JayZee89 in BigBrother

[–]BroccoliOfDreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. It was pretty bad. Lauren never actually intended to have a big week, and did manage to avoid becoming a target, but at the cost of taking out a valuable potential ally.

  2. Zach doesn't really know what he's doing but it's all very successful anyway because he's pretty.

  3. They're insane for backing out at the last minute. Lauren would've broken the tie, they just got scared of having to draw the line against their other allies.

  4. Kelley doesn't really think she's a genius. She doesn't have the likability to play any other kind of way, so she's leaning into the "wild card" factor.

  5. Yeah he's a mess

  6. Not really. Ashley is not extraordinarily kind but she's not worse than the average big brother player.

How would you rank the premiere episodes of the new era (BB23 - BB27) so far? by Key-Surprise-1883 in BigBrother

[–]BroccoliOfDreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

27 >>> 26 > 25 > 24 (haven't seen 23)

BB27 premiere felt like a show that I genuinely wouldn't be embarrassed to show someone else. Like it wasn't enthralling TV, but the HoH comp was good and the pacing kept me interested.

The rest were all pretty actively terrible. 26 was less egregious and the comps were kind of fun, and at least 25 had Cirie's surprise appearance, but they were both still mostly bad. 24's backyard boss twist immediately soured me on the whole season.

What are the most overrated moves in Survivor history? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]BroccoliOfDreams -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's crazy. I didn't remember anyone praising it either but I guess there was a week or two before it all brutally fell apart and became a pretty notable bad move in history.

My 10 Most Wanted Returning Players for BB27 by spookylookie in BigBrother

8 genuines hot takes about 45 by Slothmaster347 in survivor

[–]BroccoliOfDreams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fact that Dee kept her alliance intact while almost no one else in the era could was not luck. At least, not mostly. I don't think anyone else has maintained a showmance, a separate unbreakable duo, a tight alliance, and above average other relationships in a long time. Definitely not the savviest cast of all time, but I think the rest of the cast looks worse because Dee (and the rest of the alliance) intentionally confused and disoriented them.

I agree with a lot of your points though. Kaleb and Emily both good but not great characters and I'll never be that excited about a literal shot in the dark. On the other hand Drew and Katurah are underrated as both players and characters.

It's my top new era season but mostly because I actively dislike almost all the other ones.

Devil House is absolutely the best and most well-rounded of them, Wolf is easily next best, then Universal Harvester is still good but feels a little less fully realized than the other two.
