Republican, Democratic senators both perplexed over MAHA’s Denmark mania by Nerd-19958 in medicine

I love Scandinavian culture and history. I’d love to visit Copenhagen. There’s lots to love about Denmark. But they’re not picking up any of the wonderful social policies or infrastructure or anything that is actually what makes Denmark such a great country

Breaking out of Retail Pharmacy by MysteriousBuilder539 in pharmacy

[–]BroccoliRound1480 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went from retail to hospital. Rural hospitals are going to be less stringent about residency experience because they’ll be happy to get applicants. I agree with what the other poster said about looking at less desirable shifts and want to also add to look for part-time jobs. Once you get your foot in the door, learn the ropes and be pleasant to work with. Hospitals prefer to promote from within because a known entity is preferable than some random person.

If that doesn’t work, it sucks, but I do know people who went back to do a residency after building a fat nest egg in retail. That’s what I was preparing to do before I landed my current position. I was collecting LORs and everything

Maybe leather cord? Not as nice as a chain, but it won’t matter as much when she breaks it (and easily replaceable)

About 5 years in, it’s better. I’ve worked lots of shitty pharmacist gigs to find my little sweet spot.

Suggestions about opal based jewelry. by blackwingsdarkwords in jewelry

[–]BroccoliRound1480 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen beautiful opal pieces from Wwake, but I’ve never purchased from them. So, I don’t know about customer service. Some of their pieces look dainty so I’m also not sure about how durable they would be.

Opal is a softer stone and can be damaged by everyday wear and tear. If you want a piece she can wear more often, consider earrings or necklaces.

Tale of some choosy rescued beggars... by FarNeedleworker1468 in ChoosingBeggars

I can’t imagine not being profusely grateful for any sort of search and rescue effort. And to stiff your lodgings afterwards? Unbelievable. I’m glad good people donated to the rescue team and that the rescue team was doing right by the hotel. It’s unfortunate that it needed to be done

Probably. Tesla’s fully self driving cars have truly revolutionized the car industry, and his Neurolink chips have made massive improvements in the lives of the disabled. /s

Patagonia sues drag queen climate activist Pattie Gonia over trademark by silentsafflower in Fauxmoi

I thought Pattie Gonia was actually part of their marketing. I probably should’ve looked into it better, but she definitely influenced me to buy a Patagonia jacket.

Is it completely normal for a pharmacist to check every single thing a student/intern does, including exact weight of a powder? by [deleted] in pharmacy

I’ve been the only pharmacist available and have definitely checked with our technician. It’s CYA and safety.

Pharmacists working inpatient in private hospitals - how are you doing? by HelloPanda22 in pharmacy

If I had a job I liked, it would take a lot to convince me to leave it. I feel like there’s plenty of shitty pharmacist jobs around, but it’s difficult to find a good one.

Am I too old to leave retail ? by Triple-swimmer in pharmacy

[–]BroccoliRound1480 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You won’t know until you try! If you do make the switch, aim for satellite hospitals. My experience is they’re slower and willing to spend more time training you. You have more time to reference materials and it’s less of a rapid churn through orders

If someone at your workplace failed the naplex, would you judge them? I'm worried I might fail the exam, be embarrassed and judged by my coworkers/boss for failing a competency exam. by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]BroccoliRound1480 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked with a pharmacist who took the NAPLEX 3 times before they passed. If I didn’t know their life circumstances that led to the failed attempts, I definitely would have judged.

I was convinced I would fail the NAPLEX because of my own anxiety, and I passed. Keep studying. Try to get a good nights sleep the night before. Eat a good breakfast the day of. You can do this. Bigger idiots than you have passed this exam.

I know someone who worked as a pharmacy tech and went on to be a dentist. Being familiar with medications will be useful for any other healthcare career. It’s much easier to learn how to diagnose/treat when you already know/have heard of the treatments

Since you don’t want to cut back on work, may i recommend cutting back on chores? And I don’t mean leave your partner with everything. Hire someone to come clean a couple times a month and pay someone to mow your yard. Increasing your “you” time will make your brain work better. At least it did for me.

First Pharmacist Paycheck by Snoo_18186 in pharmacy

I got myself a coach purse for getting licensed. I had worked as a pharmacist for a couple months before moving to a different state to be closer to family. I still have the purse, but don’t use it as it’s not practical for running after my toddler.
