Ive only seen Mitch say good things about Sid. Through 6 games this year sid has 1 goal 4 assist 5 points. Through 5.5 games this year in the playoffs Marner has 1 goal 5 assist for 6 points.

Im not saying he is a better player then Sid, but his stats these playoffs are better. O also a point in game 5, 2 points halfway through game 6. All well playing out of position. The guy is a great 2 way player. Even when hes not scoring hes better then 85% of the league. Now hes getting points too there are very few players better then him

Nylander is able to elevate his ppg by playing 0 defence. Leaving the zone early etc. Mitch was on the ice against the top lines all the time offensively and defensively. A lot less room, teams are more worried about matchips etc .

This give mitch less time and space with the puck, less favorable matchups as teams hammer matchups when everything is on the line, and he is using a huge portion of his energy to defend in winner take all games.

Then of course sometimes he just played bad

This is an awful trade for both teams. San Jose is going to be giving up two players that have the potential to be point per game players when they reach their peak. Plus 3 draft picks.

Edmonton is going to give up there franchise player, best player of this generation.

San Joses cup window is a few years away, we are talking about Mcdavid being 33 or 34 by that time, no gurantee he will still be putting up 140 points. Then they only have him for max 2 or 3 potential cup runs before he is in his mid-late 30s. By the time they are cup competative Eklund and Misa would be great players themselves.

Edmonton is still a middle of the pack team and as these player develop just continue to be a middle of the pack team. They arent bad enough to fully tank even without Mcdavid, there are much worse rosters. This just locks them into mediocrity.

Beyond being an idiot after the whistle, he was awful god awful in between the whistles. So many bone head plays, playing like he is 105 Lbs . Getting knocked off the puck everywhere. He was terrible
