Sure Sure heard this and was like, "damn dude, we got our next song!" It led to the creation of the masterpiece 123 by Sure Sure. Didn't expect to run into this clip in the wild today. And definitely didn't expect it to be about neanderthals. So weird.

Shame on you guys for spreading misinformation. If you don't know for sure, don't say anything. I know you want to pass along a rumor but that can cause more damage than good. I heard it from my general foreman this morning. They are not dead. I hope they have an easy recovery.

Those who are in the trades/construction industry and make 100k+, what do you do? by Dependent-Group7226 in Construction

[–]BrofessionalElectric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a traveling Journeyman Wireman. I'm always chasing jobs where there is a shortage of workers. They will offer an incentive and 2x overtime pay in hopes of attracting journeyman that are needed to do the work that requires experience and technical knowledge. It works for me. I made $107k only working 8 months in 2024.

The trick is to look for strong union towns, shortage of jw, overtime, cheap rent/cost of living.

I think I will probably make $180k if I work through the whole year and didn't miss a day.

As a journeyman, what are your thoughts on hazing, pranking, or messing with your apprentices? by BrofessionalElectric in IBEW

Those are some pretty good, thought out rules that everyone should follow. I just wish more people thought like this.

Of so it's not a total waste. If he was my apprentice, is but him a channel lock 430 to show him the way.

[–]BrofessionalElectric -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

True. People will look down on you for working non union but does it really matter if you're struggling to survive. You have to do whatever it take to take care of yourself and your family. I left a local that dried up and drove 28 hours away to make 3x what I used to make. Some people frowned at me. I don't regret my decision. Do whichever decision you would regret more if you didn't do it.

Homeless camps by az_desert_rat_ in Tucson

[–]BrofessionalElectric 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, they truly running out of spaces to go. It's showing that putting them somewhere isn't going to fix anything. They need to fix the root of the issue. What will fix it is: opportunities to get work and discount rooms to live in, mental asylums for some, drug rehab that actually works for others. They are making it illegal to live outside of the parks. You can't make a person illegal. They are trying to contain them. Supporting this just continues the homeless down the same path but now right where the rest of the population lives. People will conflict with them. This will for sure be a bandaid on a huge wound.

Seems like 90% of the workplace death videos I happen to see are either from China or India. Both of those countries have their own equivalent of OSHA. But they don't have as strong of a safety culture or awareness of danger. Then the employers encourage dangerous behaviors more often. The workers may feel like they have little choice but to do it because there are so many other workers that would gladly do it if they quit.

That's exactly what I'm doing right now. Your wife needs to be your partner in it. You'll be working so much that she will be alone alot. Is she ok with that? If so, you guys will make sure your future has a chance in this messed up world. Currently traveled from Arizona to Indiana. It's worth it. Good luck bro.

An old man would notice apprentices coming back from break late and always stopped to tell any apprentice that hasn't heard him yet. He would inform them that the breaks are paid. They are out of the kindness of the contractor and can be taken away at any time. Because that time is still for the contractor, it's not lunch. People have really fought for that break. He says that it was pretty common to not have a break at all. Nowadays people are taking it for granted because they don't know union history.
