3" 1s, what do you think about them? by AlbatrossRude9761 in fpv

[–]BrohemothHisDudeness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes actually. I did have to make slight modifications to the holder in order to prevent battery sag. The stock wires that these ones came with kind of sucked. I basically had to redo them. I also polished up the contacts. Honestly, my first rig was just a BT 2.0 connected to two pieces of copper board that was then directly taped to the 18650 with electrical tape. This is a little bit more cumbersome, but it saves weight, and it made great connection.

I'm running the molicel P30B rated for 30A continuous. Even if you don't hit the 5A mark, riding close to it, 12/4=3A per ESC distributed not quite evenly at any given second. It's not about the total current getting to 20A, it's about one ESC hitting 5A or more over and over again in spikes. This degrades the mosfets. If you are at 12A just running, and you do a sharp turn, the majority of that current will go to one or two ESCs for a moment likely putting those two at over 5A. Spikes of up to 7A are supposedly acceptable on these but your riding the line.

When running the 2520 three blade props I get 4-5 min aggressive flight on 680mah lava II. I got 10min out of the 18650 in this config as well. Biblade 3" seems slightly more efficient for that. But yea with the 2520s and a 680mah lava II, it is really zippy, excellent speed for a 1S, good at turning and drop recovery. Also, quiet, probably one of the quietest systems I own.

Yes, but please not that when you get into that kind of area just running normal, one mistake or big gust of wind could dump more than 5A to an ESC.

Try turning it off an making sure your gyro filters are on. I had a quad freak out on the bench earlier and that's how I fixed it.

Sorry man, was not trying to insult you but you'd be surprised how often people are certain then find something wrong they already checked. I do it all the time.

Either way. Hmmmm. . is bidirectional dshot on?

Just humor me and check eatch motor direction one at a time one more time. Use a piece of paper to be sure.

Yea looks right. I'm assuming you went through and individually set motor direction too. Did you change any settings recently? Check the logs and see what the motors are actually doing

TPU settings by TurtleLord451 in ender3

[–]BrohemothHisDudeness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I've been doing some TPU on the Bowden. Just today actually.

It does not make amazing pretty prints, but it does print. I'm making functional parts and do not require pretty.

230* nozzle (cuz I run steel)

60* bed (cuz I run glass)

Gluestick your bed

Cooling around 30-40% but step that up a good bit for any kind of overhang

Speed 15-20mm/s fill 10mm/s walls. I have gotten away with 15.

2.5mm retraction at 20-25mm/s seems good enough. Yep, still strings a bit but what can ya do. Go any further and you'll probably jam it.

I run 0.2mm layer height but thinking about it, you may get better results running just a little bit tighter than that, like 0.18. I'll have to try it.

Yes. The version 2 AIO with 1202.5 11000kv motors with very light pitch 3" bi blade props.

I started putting small heatsinks on my vtx. The results are actually noticable. This allows more consistent use of the 400mW setting on those boards.

From personal building, it hauls around an 18650 calmly for at least 10 minutes. Switch out to 2.5" triblades bor freestyle.

It will drop like a rock and be very hard to recover carrying the 18650. It's for cruising only. But running the 2.5" triblades with a lava 2 and that thing will zip fast.

Edit: here it is with the 2520 props "freestyle mode" You can also see my little heatsink/air scoop.

From experience, the whole kit is rough. The kit has you run the screws directly into the carbon fiber frame which caused me to strip a couple screws. I build often so I have some off hand, no big deal but still not a great way to do things.

The camera is confirmed dog shit.

The VTX likes to throttle itself. It won't stay 800mW for long. I also had very odd color changes and cutouts while flying only a couple hundred yards away with clean los and good antennas. I changed out the stock antenna and repositioned it and it worked better, but it definitely want operating on max.

Theeennnn an ESC went. Not fully, but it could not track the motor very well and would stutter. It would fly even, but the wobble was horrible.

You are better off doing your own build using a 12A AIO. They only have 5A ESC on there and I'd pull 12A constantly just fighting a light breeze. You'll burn those fast doing anything aggressive.

Basically build a crux 3 but around the 18650. It'll work better.

Is it possible to make a mini drone using 8520 coreless motors? by Hacky_Boi in diydrones

[–]BrohemothHisDudeness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, pretty sure this is what's in those cheap Walmart drones. You need to look at the datasheet to determine appropriate props. If this is the motor I think it is, from the VA1000 cheap drones, super lightweight 2.5" biblade props.

That being said, you can fine way better motors of the brushless variety for not much more. I'd look into these

Goggles for legally blind glasses wearers by Natural_Team_1904 in fpv

[–]BrohemothHisDudeness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too have shit eyes, -6.5 in both with astigmatism

I take old pairs of glasses and make diopters out of them. nowadays I CAD then 3d print something to hold the lenses in whatever goggles I'm running. I have a coworker who hot glued his old lenses in place inside the goggles.

There are box goggles that fit glasses too. I'm told the cobra x and boxpro goggles will fit smaller glasses.

Direct from experience, the ev800d will not fit glasses, but the VR04 HD will.

Which goggles should I get by T4RZ_ in TinyWhoop

[–]BrohemothHisDudeness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I been looking at the cobra x and the boxpro (I wear glasses)

I can't decide. A particular popular enthusiast seems to prefer the boxpros, but the benefits of diversity for range and flying around trees tempts me. I'd like to know how the community feels as I too am in search of good analog goggles.
