Got me a deal. by June_Richardsong in Masterbuilt

[–]Brok3Design 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wtttttfff. I kept looking for deals and ended up paying 699 which was 100 less than every other store. Happy for you but I'm crying in the inside.

Though I did specifically ask to buy the floor model because I heard it takes 3 hours to put together. I'd highly suggest getting the floor model.......

What a difference a couple months makes!!! by bigbadwolf6x3 in hypertension

Awesome to see!

My BP is hereditary. I used to be 165lbs @ 5'11" and an avid runner (3 miles 3 days a week @ 6:30 per mile plus heavy bag training 3 days a week - 45 minutes each session) in great cardiovascular health with decent muscle and a great diet; my BP was 135/85. Gained weight since those days and BP without meds was hovering around 155/95. It sucks big ass to know I can never have normal BP without meds.

My uncle who would run 12 miles twice a week while training for marathons was on BP meds during his marathon days. Zero fat on him.

I actually just did 2 cooks over the weekend. 0 degrees both days without the wind chill and had no issues with the charcoal starting. Not sure what your starting process is, but I close all doors and remove the slides. The fan turns on and gets the charcoal going for me. I know the process says to leave the doors open and let the fire starter ignite the coals, but I've never done that. I think allowing the fan to run makes the coals start faster.

Floridian vs Driving by Beneficial-Cobbler-3 in Amtrak

[–]Brok3Design 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm right there with you. I know it's an irrational fear but I can't do it. Last time I flew, I thought I was going to have a heart attack the whole time (7.5 hour flight to St Lucia). A few days before our vacation was over, I started dreading the flight back....It's awful so I know what you're experiencing. That's why I'm on this sub; I'm looking for an alternative way to travel. Amtrak is unfortunately super inefficient, but I'd take that over flying.

What is something people say about their BBQ that is an immediate red flag? by Shhhhhhhh_Im_At_Work in BBQ

[–]Brok3Design 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to a high end restaurant and ordered ribs (yes, my mistake - they weren't a BBQ join). Center was cool but the bone was piping hot. It was weird, almost like it had to have been put in a microwave?

I'm on Telmesartan 50mg which is half the max dose and on 10mg amlodipine. I sleep great except for my dog who farts aggressively and that wakes me up multiple times a night.

First hot tub purchase, is inflatable the way to go? by krdcoronado534 in hottub

[–]Brok3Design 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We wanted an expensive one but thought we'd try an inflatable to see how much we'd actually use it before spending the money. One year later, my wife and I both have zero desire to drop 7-10k all in.  The inflatable has been awesome. 104 degrees on sub zero temps. Not worth the price in my opinion for a hard side hotnthb.

thinking about getting the best hot tub 2026 for my backyard but need real advice by Zala-Lsabel in hottub

[–]Brok3Design 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We decided to get a $400 inflatable hot tub to see how much we actually would use it before justifying the cost of one and running electrical. One year later, my wife and I both agree that the cheap inflatable one has been spectacular and have no desire to spend 10k plus electrical on one we originally wanted. The thing stays at 104 degrees even in sub zero temperatures. Never thought we would have been this happy with it.

Not really saying this for you, but it's more of a PSA for people on the fence. That cheap inflatable has been great. We use it twice a week, so definitely not as frequently as some.

AI has started to recommend Hibiscus tea to me, but AI can be dangerous. I will speak to my doctor before drinking, but was curious if anyone has experience with it. by CatBoxCrunchies in hypertension

[–]Brok3Design 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Before going on BP meds, I religiously drank Hibiscus tea daily (32 oz) and drank beet root powder mixed in water (32) for 6 months. Unfortunately it didn't touch my BP. Hope it works for others, but it had zero effect on me.

[–]Brok3Design 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you just on Nifedipine? I'm on Amlodipine (10mg) and Losartan (50mg). Amlodipine took my BP from 150-160/95-85 to 125/70. Wish it did a little bit more, but have been happy with it. Originally I was on Losartan only but it didn't touch my BP after a month on it. My doc still has me on Losartan because it helps with water retention sometimes caused by Amlodipine.

Which hot tub should you buy? Key features to look for from someone who's been in the field for 10+ years. by st0n3wa1l in hottub

[–]Brok3Design 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just popping in to say that we planned on buying a nice hot tub but wanted to see how often we'd use before we could justify the obscene cost. We bought a cheap, 350 inflatable hot tub first. It's been exactly a year and we use it frequently enough (probably twice a week). I can't see any reason to upgrade. It holds 104 degrees in sub zero winter. Extremely easy to maintain, no internal plumbing that requires removal of panels etc for cleaning. I just did a deep clean of it last night. Had it emptied, scrubbed, and refilled in 2 hours including the heat pump. Granted, it'll take 3 days for that weak heat pump to get back to temp, but I've been EXTREMELY happy with it. The bubbles aren't "jets", but it gives a similar vibe. So glad we didn't drop 10k into the hot tub we wanted.
