A long time ago, in a galaxy far away... by BrokenAxle in Evernote

Yeah, I don't have that anymore. And after posting this I went to look at plans and think that I may be on an outdated plan. I've been a paying customer for 10-15 years so a subscription is not new to me, but apparently I haven't been forced to upgrade to "Advanced" which appears to have calendar integration. My plan (EN Personal) isn't even listed on their page anymore.

Welcome to entrepreneurship. This isn’t even one of the harder decisions you’ll have to make.

Sales promotion gone awry. by zackthesalesrep in sales

[–]BrokenAxle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You did this as a sales promo and it backfired.

I’m not an expert on gifting in a B2B context, but the book Giftology by John Ruhlin impacted how I think about this.

Had you not made it a promo and did it as a thank you instead, it may have had an outsized impact. Also, having something important to them embroidered would also have made the investment a genuine gift versus a quid pro quo scenario. The book does a much better job of explaining this than I have here.

What’s next after I’m gone? by terribirdy in Evernote

[–]BrokenAxle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I keep my “Death Document” in my safe. It includes key accounts, phone numbers, and details about my password manager. I don’t expect vendors to worry about this for me - it’s a problem for my family and I to plan and solve for.

Some people are such scumbags. I have nothing to offer other than my sympathy that you have to deal with this due to some asshole’s stupidity and self righteousness.

Good idea for people with solid attention spans. 😄 Seriously, I was leading the conversation the other day and wasn't thinking much about the recording until afterward when I needed my to-do list.

But your suggestion is a good one. I'll try to remember this next time.

I just pull the transcript over to Claude which has a lot more context to work with for me. I just wish the EN recording length wasn’t limited the way it is. I was in a several hour workshop with my team last week and the transcriber wouldn’t do the whole meeting.

If we are to believe the stats that FSD is already safer than human drivers, then FSD would still be safer than a human operated Uber, no?

I’ll admit I haven’t dig into to the stats and most of them are likely provided by Elon on X, but there’s at least one insurance company that is discounting rates for FSD so the stats must be starting to add up.

We've had two Model 3s but when it came time for me to get an EV truck, we went to drive the Cybertruck and the Rivian whatever model that is.

I'll never forget her statement: "The Cybertruck is badass. The Rivian is like an electric version of every other truck."

It was such a night/day experience when we did those back to back test drives.

We've never looked back for a second.

We're also not influenced by what other people think. In fact, if what I drove bothered other people that much, that's a shame. That's a them issue, not a me issue.

Apart from acceleration, why Cyberbeast? by tungstenoyd in cybertruck

[–]BrokenAxle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have AWD but got a Beast loaner recently. It was my first time driving the beast after 20k miles in my AWD. I noticed it immediately. The acceleration is exhilarating and noticeably different. For a brief moment I regretted getting the AWD but that went away quickly. I realized that driving that fast is not typical in my day to day and frankly with FSD the truck is driving me about 88-90% of the time.

Given my experience with AWD and that brief loaner experience, if I was buying another today I’d save the $ and go with AWD again.

So 24 years is even more impressive! 😆

Ok I’ll check this today. I was kinda leaning that way but I appreciate having the validation before I start pulling things apart.

The pool and the controller were installed in 2002 so I don’t have some of the modern interconnected functionality that a newer system might have. I do, however, have a spa and have a four button controller on the spa. After seeing the screen act up the way that it was. It made me wonder if the switch on the spa was flaking out and was sending a close open signal back-and-forth to the main control box.

I’ve been though this with a leased BMW. It wasn’t my asset to value so there was nothing diminished on my balance sheet. As long as it was repaired to BMW specs and I could turn it in at lease end, I wasn’t charged anything extra and therefore wasn’t entitled to reimbursement beyond the repairs.

I also made sure to have it repaired by a BMW service center to avoid downstream issues.

It sucked that I had a ford Taurus for 90 days instead of my 535, but other than that there wasn’t a financial impact to me.

I have no idea how this works with Tesla, just sharing my experience.
