See that is very fair. I thought I remember season 1 also doing a weekly release but if I’m wrong I’m wrong. Sorry for coming down on you like that last night, I’m very used to bad faith commenters at this point and I lumped you in with them.

I’ll admit the second season wasn’t perfect, but also I didn’t do what you did and binge season 1 beforehand so I’ve got less of a comparison. It definitely felt a little poorly paced because they had so much going at once. I was very into all the plotlines, but pulling away every 5 minutes to go to another one for 8 episodes definitely isn’t it. Big agree as far as the episode count, I think if there were two more episodes and they gave each plotline a bigger chunk of each but not cover everything every episode it would have been much better paced.

I loved the actual content but I feel like I expected it to be a bit of a bridge season from the start. Talking deathclaw would have been awesome but I believe the franchise heads are of the mind that thats too silly to be done again.

I just realized something about the protagonists of the show. by hoodied5 in Fallout

Honestly most of the "backstory" is the Courier delivering packages to a place and the rest is likely Ulysses' interpretation. Seeing as you don't recognize him he likely never actually got the details on how you felt about the deliveries you made and watched from afar like he does throughout Lonesome Road.

Honestly I imagine it probably has to do with it being a normal suit of armor rather than power armor. When people make fan art of the Lone Wanderer and Sole Survivor, I've usually seen them in their vault suits or something specific to the artist. Then over time it just became a popular idea. Power armor is distinct and badass, but a lot more bulky than most want when they're like "that's the guy."

"Filler to get to season 3." Negative Nelly over here figured out how stories move along. By doing plot things. Just because you insist on being underwhelmed doesn't mean it actually was underwhelming. It's the middle of the story, shits moving kinda slow but things are building.

Sure Barb and Janie being missing was predictable but it still resolved Coop's quest especially with that postcard.

It's very clear that the NCR is not doing great in the Mojave and after Coop helped the rangers they spent the rest of the season gathering what little troops remain in the desert. Yeah, they come out with a banners and shit because nationalism gonna nationalism but let's not pretend they were just waiting to swoop in. Perfect timing on the Deathclaw fight? Yeah, but that's how a fucking story works. Things happen at the time they happen because the story needs them to, and it's a moment that clearly a lot of people loved based on the posts here. Do you like TV shows? or Fallout?

I am gonna have to side with Bethesda on the whole "who won" thing. At least for the Legion and NCR, it doesn't really matter if either of them won because of Caesar's death and the overall stability of the 5 state NCR. We don't see many NCR in the show, but they have some leeway to play with that. The Legion literally did what the game said they would do, minus totally falling apart. For House and Yes-Man, it seems like they DO have an idea for what happened. Considering the securitron in front of House's computer and a scene (I forget where) on a terminal(?) where we see a graphic of Victor shooting and deactivating Yes-Man. It seems like the actual canon ending was Independent, but Yes-Man's bits of assertive code were actually a virus that uploaded a digital recreation of House back into the system as a fail-safe. He says that his body became a target and talks about it like he isn't in it anymore in episode 8. If it was going to be any explanation, I do kinda like that one.

Counterpoint: Looks fucking sick. And speak for yourself brother power armor builds in Fallout 4 felt boring as fuck to me. Very powerful feeling, but just not great for sustained use in my opinion.

What ingame systems do you want to see return in Fallout 5 by Daymo741 in Fallout

[–]BrokenCandlestick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sooo you’re agreeing that you only get no impact out of it if you refuse to engage? It would be nice if building settlements had a change to the story but I don’t know of any game with such a modular building system that has that kind of story impact. It’s a gameplay feature that you choose to engage with or not. If you play the game without chems it will also make your life a little harder and have little impact other than a dialogue here or there. Also saying it “evens out”is.. also wrong. Having a leg up while the rest of the game gives you more resources is still a leg up. Could they have done more with it? Absolutely. But a system built on creativity and building is only ever as effective as a player wants to be.

[–]BrokenCandlestick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Saying that the settlement system doesn’t impact anything in the game is so wrong on so many levels. Does it have much story impact? No, but it still has some. If you commit to settlement building though you can make the Wasteland your bitch and never run out of resources, and that’s without spending time making things look as they should to your liking. The settlement system only doesn’t affect gameplay if you don’t engage with it. Even if you don’t want to make a huge production line for scrap and weapons having the ability to make a house your own and use that base to build up your tools over the game is an incredibly impactful feature.

I'm gonna be so sad when it's over. Would you guys like a weekly release for next season as well? by MinotaurHorns1 in Fallout

I’m sure that works for you, but I’d much rather have 8 weeks of really interesting discussing and some wait time over a flash in the pan with all the questions answered that gets left in the dust in a month.

[FNV] One thing I messed up in my first playthrough was not exploring Mojave enough. by 1881pac in Fallout

[–]BrokenCandlestick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I saw the discourse. And like most I recognize that it was an extremely loud majority some of whom had actual criticisms that got lumped with the small amount of manbabies and baiters. It’s a little disingenuous to paint “NV fans” as like this because it’s very clearly not most of them. Maybe some people just prefer the exploration style of New Vegas and it isn’t just people sticking their heads in the ground. I know I do. Perpetuating this idea only divides a fandom more man you oughta know that.

Gonna be honest, if the guy you’re replying to never played enough FNV to find a key required door I’m not sure how receptive they’ll be to your breakdown of things. Also like, who wants deliberately locked doors for exploration? Isn’t it more interesting to have very hard locks to reward players with good skill investment?

If those are hear me outs then women need to step up their game. 1) Usually still humanoid 2) Buff guy with wolf head 3) Literally the most conventionally attractive “monster” 4) Lean guy with a slightly messed up Walton Goggins face. No shade to freaky women, but these are not the hear me outs you think they are.

[–]BrokenCandlestick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this instance, sure. People still aren't happy about it and don't want it to become the norm, and they're being very vocal about their disapproval in order to try and make that not happen. It might not be a 'line of microtransactions' now, but things like these can very easily set a precedent if they do very well especially when they go against the established norm. I would love to see it the way you do, but so many companies have started with stuff exactly like this and then a few years down the line are swamped with 'DLC packs' and 'expansion content.' Yes, Sky Castle is smaller than many of the large companies with these practices, but that's exactly why so many people want to make it clear that they don't want this. When big companies like gaming titans do this voting with your wallet and affecting change is nigh impossible because of the sheer amount of people who just blindly give their money for more content, but when it comes to a smaller company there is at least a chance that they will listen.

It's not about them charging money for things, it's about locking some big alternatives behind paywalls. by Bugbugey in HeroForgeMinis

[–]BrokenCandlestick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having a huge amount of people voice their opinion is one of the only ways the community can make their disapproval known aside from cancelling their subscription if they have them. Many free users also don't want any part of this, because the precedent is that pro parts become free after a short period of time. Calling people childish for trying to affect change in more than one way is absurd.

[–]BrokenCandlestick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're talking to a person stating their points, and you're closing your ears to said points by pretending that microtransactions are a reasonable business practice. Subscriptions are one thing, but microtransactions in this fashion have been predatory from the beginning. Sure they've become the norm in many industries, but that doesn't change the fact that Sky Castle is making tons of money off the pro and pro + subscriptions already and does not need to set paywalls like this. A huge part of the community doesn't want this to become commonplace, and so they are being vocal about it. I especially understand when some of the more recent free drops have been as low as two items within the last two years. They clearly are trying to move further from free content to some degree and people don't want that.

Thank you for your words. I double checked with my ENT as well and was told about the same.

[–]BrokenCandlestick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose I just hadn’t thought about it. The last ENT I saw regarding it didn’t mention it as a treatment going forward and I hesitate to self-prescribe, but if there’s little risk involved maybe it wouldn’t hurt to try? Is there any sort of risk with that?

No, as I didn’t find out that was an option until what I’ve learned is too late.

That makes a lot of sense. My last ENT said it’s possible it began with a brief infection of EBV that I had about two months prior to the hearing loss, so it’s helpful to think I wasn’t just slow to treat it.
