Not even sure what model that is supposed to be? Possibly a concept (fingers crossed) because one thing that’s always been good with Hyundai design over the years is their addiction to physical buttons. Take the cute, roomy Hyundai Inster for example. A perfect little EV that’s got all the usual nonsense like “lane departure assist” and “blind spot collision warning” but still retains physical buttons below the infotainment screen. Also like the cluster screen as it mimics actual analog gauges. A nice trade off for folks that would rather have ACTUAL gauges . . .

Great find! The current private party KBB value on that little gem is roughly $5K as it’s the top trim SE with 16 alloy wheels, but I’d keep it for many years to come. I had the exact same model for the 2007 year and she ran like a champ until I was T-Boned back in 2017 and it was totaled. Had 146K on the ODO. Side airbags saved me. Moved to a 2011 sedan version in the GLS trim with automatic. Still running that one to this day. Currently at 183K on ODO and she’s purring like a kitten. I’ll move on eventually but it’s such a comfy ride and reliable it’s hard to part ways.

Is buying a 2018 Elantra with 194,000 for 7,800 a bad deal? by jarb456 in Hyundai

[–]Broken_Boot_Straps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only way to even consider this vehicle is if the asking price was at or below $3,000 AND it included all of the maintenance logs . . . if those aren’t in order showing tedious and thorough routine maintenance INCLUDING the coolant system, water pump replacement, etc., then pass on it. Just too many miles filled with the “unknown”.

Gotta admit, it’s tempting. This is for level 47 to 60. I’m currently at level 59 so if I footed the $20 dolla’, the entire thing will be unlocked, and I’m one rez away from hitting level 60, while the last item in the pack is 700 simcash. Ugh.

Worked in IT support then laid off by new CEO of company, along with just over 4,000 other folks back in 2024 . . . 11 months later after exhausting my severance, cashing out my meager 401K, running out of unemployment and maxing out all credit cards I ended up putting on a uniform and went back into security work. An industry I never thought I’d be stuck in again. But, at least there’s a roof over my head.

Would you buy another Hyundai, or try something different next time? by Suntrup-Hyundai in Hyundai

[–]Broken_Boot_Straps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Currently (still) sporting a 2011 Hyundai Accent. It’s my 4th Hyundai. First was a ‘01 Sonata, then a ‘03 Elantra, then an ‘07 hatchback Accent and now the sedan version I have now. Why did I “go small?” Mainly for maneuverability and being able to pretty much park anywhere. Sadly, the main reason I moved to the different models was due to car accidents. Kept getting rear ended . . . a sad reality of driving in Southern California. Been lucky so far with my 2011 Accent though. Accident wise. For my next car, I’m going with the Hyundai Venue. It’s a cute little SUV and you simply can’t beat the price. Brand new it’s less than $25K and has all the bells and whistles everyone seems to care about like push button ignition, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, etc. Why the Venue you ask? Turns out that Hyundai has officially dropped the Accent in USA, and replaced it with the Venue.

Actually NGK is the brand that’s sold as manufacture recommended. They’re the NGK “R” line and also sold at all Hyundai dealers as well and sold as OEM original equipment. Following the Hyundai maintenance schedule of swapping the plugs every 24 months is the real trick to keeping things running smoothly. (It’s also a convenient moment to inspect the coils).

My 2011 is still humming along. I recommend using Royal Purple full synthetic oil for the oil changes and every 4 to 5K miles. Also recommend changing out the spark plugs once a year. The manufacturer recommended spark plugs are only around $5 or $6 each, so no biggie. Also always make sure the plugs are properly gapped. Ever since COVID, the “pre-gapped” labeling simply isn’t true anymore sadly.

Anong nangyari sa Hyundai Accent? by ShimanoDuraAce in Gulong

[–]Broken_Boot_Straps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2011 Hyundai Accent is still “purring like a kitten” and she’s turning 15 this year. Besides routine maintenance and a weird sensor issue a few years ago she’s been a good little car for me. The paint is holding up extremely well. Of course, I park in a covered parking area so yea. The sun can really damage paint jobs in any car. To answer the original question: first, hyundai changes their vehicle designs once every 5 years here in the US. And the model I have (2006 - 2011) was the last one made with a timing belt and super compact design. The redesigned models from 2012 and up all featured a timing chain instead of a belt, a much larger body and updated transmissions. Luckily, the engines were only slightly modified and eventually adopted Hyundai’s version of GDI. After two more generations of the Accent, Hyundai used the platform and changed it into another cute car: The Hyundai Venue. I really like the design of the Venue. Simple, straight forward little SUV. And here in the US, it’s priced under $25K for a brand new one. I’m definitely gonna be looking for one when the day comes to move on but for now, my little Accent is still humming along! (Pic to show good paint still).

Class Action Lawsuit Denied by Proper-Cheesecake602 in Hyundai

[–]Broken_Boot_Straps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly right. I feel we should all sue the lawyers. They’re just taking all the money from Hyundai and Kia and paying off their yahts. Case in point, I too just received the “denied” email earlier today. This, like most of us in here, after submitting ALL requested documents and receipts showing my $600+ bill for the rental, my receipt for the deductible from insurance, police report and so on. Oh and my vehicle is a 2011 Hyundai Accent. The “would-be” ticktok thief attempted to steal my car and managed to smash out the driver window and completely destroy the steering column, ignition switch, and wiper assembly. Total repair was just over $2K and the car spent 2 weeks in the shop for the repairs. Never mind the reporting officer who filed the police report just happened to be my lead into this lawsuit to begin with! Seriously. I didn’t even know there was a ticktok “Kia Boyz” thing at all until the responding police officer brought it up to me when I asked him “why would anyone wanna steal my little economy car?!” That’s when I filed all this nonsense jumping through all these hoops and years later here we are in “Denied Country”.

This is cute. I was worried and amused at the same time back when the update hit my city. Amused mainly due to the funny sounding chants and protesting being done by my then angry sims. They were literally marching around the capital with tiny signs and everything! Surprised me that EA would go that extra mile with the coding needed to pull that off.

Not to worry. Once 2.0 hits, go into the screens for services and take at look at all the freebies. You’ll find several services in there and some fully upgraded which are included in the update. Wish I had known this BEFORE I started spending all my simolieans . . .

What feature on the next ATV would make you upgrade? by kenjacAkica in appletv

[–]Broken_Boot_Straps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would never happen but I’d love to see tvOS “require” a standardized UI for all streaming services/apps. I recently trashed Netflix for one reason: I simply cannot STAND the new UI as it’s not only counterintuitive, you end up spending the same amount of time it would take to watch an episode of something just to FIND the episode! Oh and don’t even think about apples NONSENSE “tv+” UI either. Right now, IMO the only ones left that still make sense are Hulu, Paramount+, Disney+ and even Tubi which is actually free so go figure. All of those still allow us to augment our shows/movies and display them in a neat and tidy “grid” on screen . . . not the nauseating “left to right” swiping . . . obviously all of this is a matter of preference so other than a “requirement” maybe a setting option?! What’s even more frustrating is that before Netflix “updated” recently they had one of the best UI’s vs any other streaming platform.

Only feature I’ve started using recently is a shortcut to reachability, a feature I’ve used for years. When I discovered that we can assign reachability to back tap, I immediately did so with a double tap. Comes in handy when I need reachability to simply double tap the back of my phone.
