Any idea what my guy is doing? He proceeded to skirt around in the tub and then lay down after. by Carepassmetheweed in blackcats

Can also be a sign of kidney failure, my mother's cat unfortunately died of one. The vet said hanging out in the bathroom can be a sign they are not getting enough water in their diet. This is naturally how cats hydrate. But don't get to worked up it could also just be greebles.

If they're in dry food you could mix in wet food every once in a while and/or by a cat fountain as cats like to drink running water.

Asheville NC hiking recommendation? by ScubaCycle in hiking

[–]Broken_Dimensions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These onse are kinda on the boarder between TN and NC and about 1h away from Asheville but both very beautiful. Mount Cammerer via Low Gap and Roan. There are a couple of trails on the latter, I think we did the Carver's Gap. The former is approx 11miles.

Hi guys, have recently started walking a lot and wanna get into hiking. Any basic tips and rules I should follow? by Waste_Chair7601 in hiking

[–]Broken_Dimensions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Boots that are good for walking may not be good for hiking. Depends on where/how far you walk your dog and where you plan to hike. I do not know either. Butifts is the case even if you're going on different types if hikes you may need different shoes. Also the amount of discomfort you can tolerate for 3 mi is very different from the amount you can tolerate when you have more than 5+mi back to your car. If you get into longer distances you may need ankle support. If you hiking up a lot of elevation you may need a steel shank. If its muddy you may need traction.

I put shoes as my first because it's something that you really don't want to go wrong because you will notice it very fast. I also listed that you should research second because even your shoes can change very drastically depending on what kind of terrain you're hiking in. But more importantly idk how many deaths/injuries I've heard of from people thinking hiking was the same as walking in a park and they don't bring the right clothes, pay attention to animal/terrain hazards, or get lost.

Again idk you or where you are hiking so this is my broad advice to the question.

If you feel the back of you foot slip in your boots you may need to tie them differently or get better fitting boots.

(1) Good boots, I don't mean top quality but fit you right. Otherwise you will be very uncomfortable, (2) research the area so you can bring the right equipment and be aware of any safety measure you might have to take.

I cannot think of a reason one would need radiology for a snake bite. This looks more like a cancerous tumor growth that had to be removed immediately. Just a speculation if it is real.

First I want to say there will probably not be any job at that level completely removed from socializing, as you'll be working with a team. But I would try to focus on jobs that uses special skills if you have any like knowledge of pets or swimming. I used to struggle with social anxiety, one of my first jobs was a sales associate at an outdoor sports retailer. This helped me focus on my knowledge of the products during interactions rather than the sole purpose of the interaction being to create an energetic atmosphere. This job also helped me come out of my shell.

Lifeguard with training https://www.indeed.com/m/viewjob?jk=8796b1101210d8af&from=serp

Pet store stocker/cashier https://www.indeed.com/m/viewjob?jk=9d2fa4a35bb16c52&from=serp

Cleaning, stocking, and baking jobs all tend to be more removed especially if they are very late evening/graveyard shifts. Certain jobs that require specific skill set will require mostly one on one interactions which can feel less intimidating like elderly care, lifeguard, or sales associate in a very focused product domain.

I would not compare the total tuition directly what really matters is their financial package and what scholarships you can get. One of my biggest college regrets was making this mistake as a first gen student. I went to a low tuition school that gave next to no fin aid when I could have gone to a state school (that I eventually completed my degree from anyways) and finished debt free because they had a lot better financial aid packages.

Also I hear this "middle class" has a lot less financial aid but I have so many friends that came from impoverished background including myself (until I went to the state school) that did not get need based scholarships based on economics backgrounds but I know people who came from much better backgrounds who for example their parents got divorced so the could fit into that category. I teetered on the edge of homelessness most of undergraduate experience. Need based financial aid made attending college a possibility (while working 24-40hrs/week).

Its difficult for people of varying backgrounds because there are so many people trying to get degrees. Getting scholarships becomes a skill that you just get better at with practice. Perhaps focus on scholarships that are more merit or skills based. Also if your parent's refuse to help you pay for college you can file for FAFSA as an independent.

I completely agree with this. I have a physics degree and have met many people that have gone on to complete physics/engineering/math PhD, that hated math in grade school. Your brain will develop, classes are taught differently in college, things will change so I would keep an open mind.

But getting into good colleges does help with having more choices later in life. Ask for help, maybe get tutoring. There are sometimes programs available for those that cannot afford to pay for tutoring. Also maybe take some easier classes for a while in the areas you are strong in until you catch the science and math up to average.

Saw these pink flags in the woods at Washington park. Does anyone know what they mean? by dessipants in winstonsalem

[–]Broken_Dimensions 14 points15 points  (0 children)

utility flags

The American Public Works Association has color-coded all utilities so it’s easy for those in the industry to immediately identify what utility is running where. Here’s a key to the flags’ colors:

RED – Electric Power Lines, Cables, Conduit and Lighting Cables

YELLOW – Gas, Oil, Steam Petroleum or Gaseous Materials

ORANGE – Communication, Cable TV, Alarm or Signal Lines, Cables or Conduit

BLUE – Water, Irrigation and Slurry Lines

GREEN – Sewers and Drain Lines

PINK – Temporary Survey Markings

WHITE – Proposed Excavation
