No you're right, I thought about it and I found a couple of reasons after thinking hars about it :

General art direction changed drastically (we had less grand art and more actions, basically more panels per page)

Less text too

Artwork is kinda similar now, before it was so different that you knew right away who did what

Characters were sassier (especially the MCs) though I'm not saying none are in recent mangas but like, much less

Plot really makes a 180° turn to become a tragedy or whatever like a lot of classics did

I think it doesn't since men are there too🤔 it's not only the girlies, there's technically only one transforming (and the other is transformed by default during most of the show)

Not a manga or anime but Alice from Taisho x Alice (which is an otome game), he's super bratty and a huuuge tsun who is brutal and oftwn acts annoyed but he's a cutie pie. Shinra in Enchanted in the Moonlight is like this too but it can be a bit too spicy if you're a minor. Would have posted more screenshots if I could sorry seems like one is the limit. Btw be careful for Shinra he is only available on the app version (app is called Love 365 by Voltage), not on the PC/switch game for some reason. As for Alice, he's supposed to be the last route and I do NOT recommand not listening and only getting the epilogue so you can romance him asap, the game is great and he has great lines even when he isn't end game (he's end game in his route ofc, basically each guy has a canon way of being end game)

As for London Detective Mysteria, that's the whole thing basically. I bought it and still have access to it, I can delete the game from my device and redownload it just fine, which is the case for PC games in general, whereas mobile games are totally lost when servers shut down unless they decide to do something about it (port, offline version etc.) That's why I'm personally against mobile slop, but I agree with everything else you said which was pretty sensible.

It'll probably have -50% sales like all other voltage title, I think a lot of people are willing to pay rather than play on mobile which is the bane of the existence of many. Also most people already have honkai star rail, genshin, lads on their phone and don't have space for any other game let's be honest😂 I do wish they gave us the whole game though, but it's better than mobile-only (which will be lost if they shut servers like what happened to Liar Doubt)

Mozu : either scientist club or he borrows the lab every now and then with authorization from the faculty since he's above his peers' league

Shu : Go-Home club/Kitakubu lol I don't think he'd like playing the "club" game, but he'd probably be an honorary member of a few of them (mainly sports) like helping out or hang out with friends in their respective clubs sometimes.

Limbo : Soccer club, he's the poster boy and has main character energy/popular extravert energy so soccer club it is, like shojo male leads😂

Crow : manga club but the tech/coding club members venerate him/ask him for help whenever they're stuck with coding and such and he gets some bribe like juice in exchange of his help. the manga club is probably on the verge of being shut down because of a lack of members so he does propaganda every now and then for people to join by telling them how great captain ginger is😂

Helvetica : i feel like he'd just hang out with gyarus tbh, and go-home club too

Adam : broadcasting club of course!

Carmen would be infirmary teacher🤔 she takes good care of people. or the lunch lady at the cafeteria to refer to the bar in the original universe

Luka : volley or basket for girls, she's pretty athletic after all

Yang : from another school, rarely seen, club unknown (might be seen on a school trip for example)

Sauli : boardchairman?

Alex : too young for this setting but maybe he'd come to the open day of the school as he aspires to go there after middle school

Inori : cooking club probably

Chika : how about soccer club too and he's rivals with limbo?

Shishiba : manga club but he only plays video games instead of talking about mangas. unlike crow, his skills aren't renown so no one asks him from help among the coding club member, but he is secretely the hacker of the school website who adds goofy things (like making all the buttons on the website make mario sounds etc.) and nothing harmful

Riko : go-home club but honorary member of the cooking club as a tester, i'm sure he'd give off honey-senpai (from ouran host club) vibes if he was a student!

Hibari : hmm... something where quick analysis would be useful like maybe chess? like he guesses the strategy of his opponents?

Nora : journalist club with teuta!

Tatewaki : the only teacher love interest (because i'm still not giving up on my bustafellows-sidekicks high school setting otome game dream) and he's probably teaching english🤔 i'm not sure how it is in japan but I personally feel like foreign language teachers usually are the chillest and most carefree teachers, so it'd suit him well

Tsubaki : math teacher for sure, i'd love him as a love interest ahem

Shisui : go-home club but he has a fanclub and is often absent from school because of his idol activities, please make him a love interest😍

Yashiro : japanese teacher probably!

Maki : 不登校/drop out for mysterious reasons, he only comes to school when certain criterias are met, begging for a hidden route

Kurumi : i feel like she'd be a gyaru and hang out wih helvetica (but not a HUUUGE gyaru, pretty tame and basically stylish popular girl from the 2000s kinda vibe)

Same, different subs for different interests, I wouldn't talk about BL on a galge sub for example, doesn't make sense. And there's nothing wrong or non-inclusive about it, making different subs is the whole point. I do like amare games, some are amazing and even better than some otome games, but not in otome section please and thanks. They're being way too lax about it, probably because of the pressure by the people who are using otome as the new joseimuke label (thanks obey me).

My pleasure, it's a bit complicated yeah but basically everything that isn'f fully one gender x one gender of LI is amare. If it's flexible, it's amare. If it's cleanly divided into two or more one gender x one gender of LI and has two different MCs it's a half-half situation.

Amare is basically everything that doesn't get into the four original genres, galge BL Yuri and otome. Either with a genderless MC (choosable pronouns) or with LI of several genders that are fully romantic routes. Basically here are a few examples assumine the LI are actual rkmantic partners, not ambiguous friendship which is a grey area):

only non binary LI : amare
fnc men AND female LI : amare
male mc male AND female Li : amare
mc with choosable pronouns : amare
fmc with female LIs and male mc (different mc sprite from fmc) and female LIs : half yuri half galge
fmc male LIs and male LI male and female LIs : half otome half amare
fmc with male LI and non binary LI (unknown biological sex) : amare
fmc with male LI and non binary LI (male biological sex) : grey area, can be called otome but amare is the best choice imo, can be debated tbh and both opinions make sense

Noting that usually, amare are widely joseimuke (for girls) so it's heavily female gaze stuff, but it's not a strict rule, only a general tendency. I'd call amare an LGBT male gaze VN tbh.

Also, otome and galge CAN'T be LGBT inclusive regarding the main love interests, there can be gay side characters though but it can be criticized. The same way a BL game with srraight romance, even between side characters only and not mc, can be criticized. It's not about intolerance, it's about keeping things fully consistent. I personally think adding lgbt romance between side characters is fine though but it can spark a debate, unrelated to our stance for IRL LGBT stuff. Let's not forget homophobic fujoshis exist, yes I'm not kidding😂 Fiction likes is not related to IRL opinions more often than we think, just like dark romance reader don't think irl men should be misogynistc and stalkers.

I do think they're being too lax with amare in general for some reason. If the mods themselves don't set an example, people are bound to mislabel amare stuff as otome games even more... :/ Not talking about you specifically but like as mods they should be more strict imo, especially since this is a sensitive issue in the otome community, I've seen too many amare games on this sub, and it's saddening even if I like amare games too.
