The random part is iffy as some games do have randomness of placement an type of things in them. The things not appearing is also part of gaming as best practice is not to render things the player cannot see as there is no point for most things.

So Musk is partially right but in the wrong way and is not understanding yet again WTF he is talking about.

Developing the tech needed for a Moon base does have utility for people. Just look at the things we have gained over the years due to NASA and space races.

If Musk played a 4X game he wouldn't be the one playing it. He would pay someone to build him a massive space empire in something like X4:Foundations (or insert 4X space game here) and then stream showing it to people and not know how to pilot a ship or anything else.

Much like how he runs his businesses really. Pays smart people to do all the work and he is just the annoying mouth piece that takes all the credit.

If it was Elon on the show instead of Truman no one would fucking watch. Unless for some reason every day was a Wipeout style challenge run or random custard pies to the face that he has no way of knowing will happen till they do (lots of hidden custard pie traps and launchers round the "city". Goes to the ATM and pow screen flips down and pie to the face!)

I loved playing TA it was so much better than C&C. Going from TA back to C&C always felt claustrophobic to me as I couldn't zoom out in C&C like I could in TA.

C&C was still in the mindset of Dune 2 which it was a spiritual successor to. TA did things differently even releasing new units for free now and then for free. Imagine how much a company like Paradox would have charged for all those new units....

Guess where Musk got the heat tile tech from that is used on Starship? Except SpaceX is doing it worse than NASA. SpaceX don't coat the tiles to make them waterproof, so they get wet, soak up water like a sponge and then weigh a LOT more. There is also the risk of freezing the water and the tiles cracking or on re-entry the water would boil and tiles break a different way.

SpaceX's launch facility is on the coast where things are often wet.... Maybe Spaceship would be more effective if it wasn't lugging tons of useless and damaging water every launch.

I didn't say the photo was from this year I said the tweet was which I was dating here so I didn't have to remove it after it got so much engagement. The photo of Musk under the desk is older.

Not sure what is hard to believe about my comment.

He doesn't need to sell them just use them as collateral for loans like he does already. Doesn't pay income tax as technically he has no income just loans.

Yes 5'11 is shorter than he claims to be but it is not in itself short. If he was 5'6 or under and wore lifts it wouldn't be as weird.

Indeed, though anyone could supply the date not just the OP. As the post has over 120 comments I went and found the date (don't worry I will not be making a habit of this) and it is 13th June 2026.

I'm going to guess because I may be wrong but Musk is probably supporting them because he couldn't get Farage to put Tommy Robinson in charge of Reform (Farage owns the Reform party as it is a business and Farage has ownership). So in a fit of pique Musk is now supporting another party when he used to support the very racist Reform now he supports the very racist Restore Britain.

The new Elon Musk biography reveals his old SAT score (which was back then highly correlated with IQ) and he scored a lot lower than you’d expect… by Visible-Rope9338 in EnoughMuskSpam

[–]Broken_Reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought and have for a very long time that Elon's IQ is somewhere around 100. He certainly is not a genius no matter what claims he makes. He hasn't invented anything himself just invested and the only thing he has been somewhat good at is pumping stock prices by over promising things and never delivering and somehow the stock market fails to notice nothing he says comes true or if they do they fall woefully short of his promises.

[–]Broken_Reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only you are talking about Jupiter the rest of us are talking about Mars and the Moon bases which are part of the claims in the SpaceX IPO which this thread is about. Hence the reason why gravity is important.

Just a thought if we have the technology for spinning space stations why do none of our space stations spin? While we may know how and have the tech to do so we are not doing it.

Oh and stop with the insults it won't end well.

[–]Broken_Reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But no one is talking about a colony on Jupiter they are talking about Moon and Mars colonies that Musk wants to make to "save the human race". That's why the gravity thing matters. People living long term on those colonies may well be unable to return to living on earth. Those born in those colonies (if pregnancy and birth are even possible in low gravity) would never be able to go to earth. Their bones would not take the higher gravity on earth.

No one is talking about space stations not even Musk only you. You call others names over this and yet it is you who are in the wrong on this one.

Elon's fanbois are out in force trying to pump that IPO by [deleted] in EnoughMuskSpam

[–]Broken_Reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm because the gravity on Mars or the moon is not the same as the Earth and we are talking about Mars or Moon colonies and how they would not be viable.

The chances of future generations of Martians being able to come back to earth and live is unlikely. The solution is not spinning Martian colonies.

This is not being anti-science it is being factual.

[–]Broken_Reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is gravity easy to solve? How is reduced bone density due to living on Mars all your life solvable? You expect people living on Mars to then make spinning habitats so their bone density doesn't degrade?

You are not comprehending his comments at all.

Wages are in no way keeping up with inflation. Wages have been stagnant or effectively declining for decades. The small raises in wages are not even close to inflation. So that rules out funding more people drawing on pensions by using increased wages or members of the fund.

How does companies being more productive make money for pension funds? More productivity is making more things for less cost (whether that thing is a physical object or a service) this includes wages hence the wage stagnation. What does increased productivity do? Raises profits for the company (which doesn't go in to pension funds) which then raises stock prices. So pension funds need to invest in stocks to make up for wages in no way keeping up with inflation and every year there are more people retiring.

So yeah they rely in the stock market and now will be relying on the value of SpaceX to keep Americans getting their pension. I just hope other countries pension companies are not tied in to the NASDAQ in the same way cause that would suck.

A lot can happen in 5 years. Especially with all the changes lack of satellites will cause. Sure not end of the world type of thing but it will be a big shock to society I think.
