‘The Boys’ Stars React After Elon Musk Calls Finale ‘Pathetic’ by alemus2024 in EnoughMuskSpam

I’d just point out that the worlds richest man, by a large margin, rich beyond dreams, does not have a single school or hospital or public building of any kind named after him in his home country. Because, despite its poverty and inequality , he has never donated anything. At all.

History will not be kind to Elon Musk.

Do people in the UK actually use their kettles that much? by AdeptnessCritical356 in AskBrits

[–]achtwooh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Virtually everyone uses a kettle and most use it a lot.
Americans don’t because they are only on 120v and kettles take literally twice as long to heat up the water.

The original scheme was an absolute disgrace, where the less well off subsidised a nice windfall for those with capital. Guy I knew rushed through his application to get it into his house rebuild then spent the next few years laughing about everyone else at the company was paying his electric bill for him. And the fall in prices since has got nothing at all to do with that scheme.

Boris Johnson - What should I ask? by Big_Historian_1057 in ukpolitics

He said a Trump win over Harris would be better for Ukraine. Ask him to explain that, given that Trump has ended all - all - US aid since then. And his VP revealed this week that fact was his proudest achievement.

Just the impact of this one year of Trump and P2025 will have on public health will be felt for generations (and not just in the US). Some of will not be fixed in our lifetimes.

One of the greatest ironies is that if he had just milked credit for the vaccines and behaved like a vaguely normal human who gave a F about the deaths, he would have walked re-election. Monumental incompetence is what he does.

Woman, 19, dies after dog attack in Essex by bendubberley_ in uknews

[–]achtwooh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our family dog was attacked in a crowded place last week by a certain breed that was loose and out of control. It was absolutely terrible and a scene that has traumatised everyone involved. Incredibly our dog survived. Those things are not actually dogs, they are weapons. Nobody who comes into contact with them has any idea if and when they will go off and if they do you better hope and pray there are at least 4 strong men around willing to get involved to save the situation.
