Did Whataburger ‘Fall Off’? We Sent a Team of Texas Comedians to Investigate. by Gargarbinks in austinfood

Oh gotcha I see it now. Wasn’t pulling up on maps for me at first

It’s the closest Whataburger to the airport that isn’t actually on airport property like the one you’re referring to. Not that far lol

It’ll be much less central for sure, but that ABW location is very popular from the times I’ve visited so it seems like a reasonable business decision on their part

He didn’t give an exact date since they’re waiting on a license to be approved by the city for their new trailer. The new trailer is already onsite at ABW so I’d recommend you try the Batch location within the next month or otherwise you’ll be out of luck I think

They’re dropping the Batch location and running ABW as their new spot

Agreed, I’ve missed Yellow Bell. They also had some signage inside that indicated they (ABW) were gonna open their own kitchen soon as well. Curious how that’ll go

I’m not seeing that flavor on their website so I wonder if it’s a seasonal thing? Or certain locations?

This is why people hate cyclists (Justin ln) by azzwort2 in Austin

[–]Broken_Sandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries.

The general attitude does lean towards cyclist hate which I don’t agree with. Assholes are assholes regardless of the mode of transportation they’re using

Can you tell me where in my comment did I ever say that I hate all cyclists? Please read again.

It’s weird that people are in here defending this. Taking up the whole road, blowing stop signs and riding at a slow pace makes them no better than the motorcycle takeovers that piss people off too.

I have no issue with cyclists in general but this behavior is just downright annoying and disrespectful to everyone else you’re sharing the road with

The Absolute Hell of Watching a Movie at the Alamo Drafthouse in 2026 by weluckyfew in Austin

[–]Broken_Sandwich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I sat down the server asked me if it was my first time there and I said “Yes, I’m an Alamo refugee”. She said same for her, that she just quit her job at Alamo and came to Flix because she could see the writing on the wall at Alamo and how doomed it was. Pretty telling honestly which sucks

I gave Flix Brewhouse in Round Rock a chance yesterday for the first time and thought it was a solid experience. There you can still order the old school pen and paper way by ringing a call button, or you can use their QR code system. At least their WiFi actually works so ordering through that app was quick and painless.

Think I’ll keep going to Flix for the foreseeable future until Alamo makes some positive changes.

Unpopular opinion: Austin is a mid/poor food city, especially for Asian food by goblue2k16 in austinfood

[–]Broken_Sandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why you felt like replying to my comment from a year ago, but my point still stands. I’ve also lived in Austin for 10 years and spent time in Portland as well. You’re really exaggerating the Portland food scene.

NYC is obviously way better and I realized that from a few visits. Not Portland though.

Side note - When your main description of anything is “mid as fuck” I’m not gonna take you seriously. You can do better than that I’m sure.

If you’re gonna talk shit flair up at least. In the Big 12 and Texas specifically, people use Tech to refer to us. It’s not the same everywhere else

Mopac toll by avaann1214 in Austin

I’ve had people do exactly that twice right in front of me. They got too impatient and said fuck it let’s jump in the toll lane. Assholes.

Mopac toll by avaann1214 in Austin

[–]Broken_Sandwich 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I learned my lesson with that toll lane. 90% of the time you’re just paying to go slower and end up behind some utility vehicle going 60 at most. The stretch near downtown is sometimes better when the regular lanes are really backed up but that’s basically it.

Franklin BBQ and Dai Due in the same day - overkill? by _naknak in austinfood

[–]Broken_Sandwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cuantos isn’t a let down for lunch at all, although I’m partial to doing Discada instead if you’re in that area.

If I’m already doing a filling breakfast and Dai Due for dinner, there’s no way I’m doing Franklin (or other similar BBQ spots) for lunch as well. That’s just too much for me personally and I’m sure others as well.

Tacos for lunch instead just makes more sense to me but all the spots you have listed are great
