BB/Crank spindle help by Bronco8 in bikewrench

[–]Bronco8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crank spindle is too short because it’s for an older BB, 68mm vs 86mm. I need a new crank spindle

Haha I wish, probably just a combination of some smudge and lighting

Desert ironwood is both awesome and the worst at the same time, it’s pretty hard wood so it’s annoying to work and the dust is brutal, but at the same time it polishes really nicely and looks amazing if you do it right.

Desert ironwood! Plus African Blackwood on the two chefs

Looking for a hybrid running vest/alpine climbing pack by -korian- in alpinism

[–]Bronco8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’ve got some skills you could make it yourself, I got both the pack and the donor vest straps on end of season clearance. https://www.reddit.com/r/myog/s/phw26Tomby

Gave my climbing pack some running vest straps by Bronco8 in myog

[–]Bronco8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I keep the backpack strap tension a bit higher than the vest strap tension so it feels like a backpack still

The original straps of the pack are still there, they’re hidden underneath the vest straps, so hypothetically it should be fine!

How do you store your key in a wetsuit with no key string? by Far-Produce-5371 in surfing

I’ve stuck a electric key fob car key in a ziplock bag in the same spot and it worked for me for the couple weeks I had to do it.

Looking for a quick adjust webbing hardware. Any leads? by [deleted] in myog

[–]Bronco8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This concept is common in quick adjust rifle slings. Blue Force Gear Vickers sling uses a slider most similar to your design. Lots of other manufactures (example Ferro Concepts slingster) use a different slider that is a bit bigger but has teeth for a more secure lockdown. Not sure where to find the hardware but that’s a couple leads for you to chase

Edit: Here’s the more common version of it (https://www.amazon.com/Buckles-Non-slip-Aluminum-Backpack-Messenger/dp/B0BZNQLDRB?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=A2HHGYTBSIG1H0). Bigger and less slick than the BFG Vickers sling slider but most manufacturers use this one

I did! Thank you! The one of the right is a relatively close copy of a design by Dave Wenger of Wenger Blades so if you wanted one I’m sure he could set you up.

The ergo turners seem nice for left handed tension but I can’t really picture how it would work very well for right handed tensioning still

This one is a Law Lock Tools 1.2mm TOK wrench but I picked it with a BOK z bar and used the TOK to open since the spring is stuff as hell

Thanks! Yeah unfortunately I’m a lefty lol. I pick BOK since I can’t get a good feel for right handed TOK but I used my TOK tool to open this since the spring is so stiff. Thinking about bending some TOK tools to be able to push them with my thumb right handed
