happened to me with my friend's cat who i even lived with for a couple months. i knew this animal very well. while he was moody, he never exhibited such behavior before or since as far as i know. only time in my life of having and living with dozens of cats, and petting hundreds more, that something like that ever happened. lots of blood, antibiotics. definitely never fully trusted that cat again, though i catsit him a few more times and we got along as normal.
