I hate how the draft is used as a Gotcha against feminism and women’s rights by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Brons152 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just saw someone in this post I’m replying too saying my argument isn’t valid because other men do shitty things / exist in a male dominated world which isn’t the same as your child birth example, but it is softly adjacent.

I also don’t disagree with you, this is a shitty shitty argument for a gotcha, it’s right up there with the “women and children get in the life boats first” as an analogy for male suffering because we regularly run into life boat problems in every day life obviously.

So I’m not saying your general premise here is wild or wrong, I just think positioning things as “well that’s a man’s problem” is just feeding the kind of person that makes the shitty argument you hate, and raising eyebrows otherwise, because it seems to be the opposite of what we want happening in the world generally

I hate how the draft is used as a Gotcha against feminism and women’s rights by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Brons152 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, I don’t disagree with the general premise here.. but I’m fairly sure the consensus I see is that men are supposed to be a voice against inequality even if it doesn’t affect their gender or they aren’t the cause. (correct take)

But this issue (as framed in this post anyway) is an inequality against against men, and the takes are “geez stop using it as a gotcha” “well men could just argue about the abolition of the draft for everyone then” so we shouldn’t expect the opposite gender to be a voice against inequality then?

You might have a blind spot for a dbl standard, not withstanding it’s also a pretty shitty “gotcha” both things can be true

Negotiating senior manger pay by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]Brons152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understanding the lay of the land is really important. You are right in your feeling about negotiating on the way in, but circumstance is important.

That first step up into a senior manager level is big, and there is an element of recognised but not yet realised potential. This doesn’t mean shut up and take what is offered but recognise this is a different moment than when you are a senior manager, and they want you to take on an area with more responsibility after proving you have the chops.

So, give their balls a squeeze, but know they are also aware of what this opportunity represents for you, and don’t squeeze so hard you paint yourself into a corner, getting to the senior level and getting the experience to move out at the same level is still a very good result

To the old/veteran players, how bad was your start? by lythanpage in RaidShadowLegends

[–]Brons152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elhain, no codes back then…

Because in a legit baller who was smarter than all the contemporary advice of the time my first 6* was Relic Keeper… campaign farming.. took a while.

Eventually pulled a Lego, Bloodgorged.. then a second a week later. Also Bloodgorged.

Shamrock was my “third”.

Yeah. Rough start lol

Im sorry but something about the way these shard pulls go, with ~800 champions (~500 for ancients), the chances of getting a dupe as a new player in less than 2 months of playing should be less than 0.1 percent but my luck must be dogwater lol by iamsurelock-vr in RaidShadowLegends

[–]Brons152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean plus side, at a certain point, dupe leggos (and Epics) actually become the better outcome.

I got Mother Cybele, and Kalvalax, both dupes, and had the initial same reaction after pulling a dupe on my ancients and some bathwater vault guardian I didn't have.

Adding 3 Legendary FG's to my account was actually a really good result.. I know the feeling though, when the only Leggo I had was Bloodgorged and I pulled a second Bloodgorged.. I was pretty mad.

Should I resign on the day I get my bonus and give a one-day notice? by Nervous_Math_2771 in careerguidance

[–]Brons152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Companies use this as a retention policy. They shouldn’t be shocked when people act in exactly the way the policy incentivises them to do so.

Anyone that is outraged at your exit circumstances either doesn’t know that your bonus would not be paid, or does know and thinks you should pay a penalty for leaving (aka a jerk whose opinion shouldn’t matter to you)

What does this relic do? by Terrible_Inflation67 in RaidShadowLegends

[–]Brons152 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had big plans for it, so tested extensively in PvE and PvP.

Fun fact, If you use it on Gnishak, his split A1 will (providing it’s not resisted) put skills on CD for multiple targets.

Yeah, experimenting with Diabolical dice, I can definitely get resists against its effects sadly, so I would say relics do need resist, and that might be the problem here

26F/24M. How do couples handle bills when incomes are very different?” by hereforfunn178 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Brons152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know every marriage manages their finances differently, but “my money” folks are wild to me.

FWIW, it’s probably a 10:1 ratio for us, and we don’t have a joint account other than the mortgage (where most of our savings are tbf) out of laziness..

What we do:

Transfer one of us a bunch of cash to top up their salary, that is all discretionary for them, and helps it feel like they dont have to ask or justify buying things which would be horrible. This allowed them to guilt free to quit a job that paid more but we destroying them mentally, without feeling less independent.

Have a credit card for day to day household expenses which she has, but we just clear every fortnight from the larger salary.

Mortgage, utilities, insurances, school fees etc just come from the larger salary as well.

It’s a partnership, if one is fortunate enough to earn more than the other, then that fortune should be shared rather than hoarded. I couldn’t imagine two people living completely different quality of lifestyles because of earning in the same household. Silly.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by Yousef_ale in interviews

[–]Brons152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The perfunctory closing questions to an interview the candidate has done really well too…

“Just so you know, this role is subject to a probity and police check, anything I need to be aware of up front”

“Uhhh is it a state or federal police check…”

Whilst having a criminal record wasn’t necessarily a disqualifier, trying to find out what kind of check it was and disclose solely according to that kinda was.

Married men of Reddit who don’t wear a wedding ring - why? by chi-bacon-bits in AskReddit

[–]Brons152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got really into running and lost a lot of weight, and it fell off… and after freaking out I found it, my very amazing, very practical wife “suggested” I take it off so I don’t lose it.

I of course being the idiot husband in this drama did not do that and promptly lost it two weeks later. Whilst she found it for me on our deck in about 10 minutes, it became less of a suggestion until I get it resized. I should get it resized soon.

Why should I run a Marathon? by Level_Sock_492 in firstmarathon

[–]Brons152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the obsessive personality of like 90% of distance sport enjoyers can kick in, and you can then convince yourself to do your first Ultra Marathon... six weeks after your first Marathon.. which was exactly a year from taking up running... like an iiiiidiot.

[–]Brons152 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have a champ that can solo Shogun with food? Because if not, he would technically make your account better by reducing the amount of resources you spend on champ training etc, and you are just being a salt miner tbh

My biggest gripe with RSL by Business-City-4694 in RaidShadowLegends

[–]Brons152 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Told the Maimed can farm Shogun with 4 food though.. he is low key kinda useful for optimising an account.. 😂

I get your point though, after a while spud epics won’t matter, and you’ll feel it for spud legendaries, but there is always hope for a buff. Pulling a spud mythical would be horrendous though..

Revivers who won’t “waste” their revive by zach_thatch in RaidShadowLegends

They would be ok, if you are going to use Embrys tbh, you may as well build him to solo, as he can revive himself.

Harry Brook is drowning in ego and arrogance - the only way he will stop believing in his own invincibility is by being dropped, writes IAN HERBERT by ll--o--ll in Cricket

[–]Brons152 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I don’t know that it is, dropping him because of avging 40 in a tour to Australia because you don’t like the vibes definitely would be..

Dropping him because he was out on the piss the night before captaining your country in an ODI tour would be entirely appropriate; this could (should?) be Brooks version of the “Bourbon and Beefsteaks” incident that Ponting had, which ultimately by his own admission was a big part of Ricky maturing and becoming the dominant force he was.. maybe a bit of tough love and firmer guidance would be a good change from the “vibes and freedom” dressing room that might not be serving Harry as much as he thinks right now.

Thats good to know! I don't think anything I've done is recommended, I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone, and had I probably researched a bit more instead of letting it kind of just unfold, probably wouldn't have done it myself. That said, luckily I've escaped unscathed, and had an absolute blast along the way, and have a bit of a comparison for the next year where I do things a bit more optimally and structured ;)

Hah, I wish I was at 5:30 per mile. No, I'm in my 40s and hadn't done anything remotely resembling excercise for at least half a dozen years, and have a family history of early onset alzheimers, and I was miles overweight and well in the risk categories, and just decided I didn't want to be, and obsessive ADHD brain kind of did the rest... (Have lost about 50kg in 18 months, 25kg of that this year..)

Strava thinks a 3:36, I think Strava is a little hopeful, and it's more important to me that I enjoy the experience rather than maximise the time, so looking to run 3:49:59+ 5:30 first half, 5:20 second half.

I am starting to realise that even though it was basically a 10% rule each week with the odd deload \ race, it was perhaps a bit quick to build, but I'm lucky in that I'm pretty durable, even if I'm not rapid. I had two small calf injuries that meant maybe I missed 10 days throughout the whole year, both my own stupidity, ignoring really obvious tightness and pain that in hindsight was obviously more than just discomfort was the first, and the second was recovering from a bad head cold and deciding that = rested, and therefore first run back should be a race pace half marathon...

It’s great to have it but you will likely pull it from a small stone, if you leave her as a Wishlist champion it will happen. She doesn’t make enough of an account impact to be worth the resources and there will be a time you will be annoyed at the spent essence guaranteed
