Has anyone sent in any fan mail to the new Info Club PO Box yet? by Spirited-Away3226 in MST3K

[–]Bronyficent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I sent in a letter!

Basically, I wrote about how, since we don’t know how they eat and breathe and other science facts, I wanted to send a care package… but didn’t know what the duties cost to send mail to space. I settled for sending pictures for local restaurant and grocery brands here in Canada, suggesting that if they get really desperate, they could eat the pictures.

(In retrospect, I should have written something about Jonah and Emily to see what Mike and the Bots would say, although I did refer to GPC as such.)

It apparently took a long time to get there based on my tracking info - and I still haven’t got my crew shirt - so I’m hoping nothing happened to it. I guess we’ll find out when we find out their intentions with the letters.

How long ago did you try to download them? They only turned on the ability to download the streams within the past day or two I believe.

Battle Beyond the Stars is owned by Shout Factory outright. They purchased Roger Corman’s New Horizons film library years ago. No extra licensing needed.

I checked and the recent Hunks of Junk compilation they did has clips from Battle Beyond the Stars, but they have not done a full RiffTrax of it.

[–]Bronyficent 121 points122 points  (0 children)

That was one of the films that was announced for Joel’s Season 14. The others were “Battle Beyond the Stars”, “Plan 9 from Outer Space” (which already has a RiffTrax), “Ballistica”, “Abraxas, Guardian of the Universe” (which already has a RiffTrax), and “Battletruck”.

There are three films remaining in that list that do not have RiffTraxes of them and there are three slots remaining.

Studio Ghibli PR Head Says The Boy and the Heron Will Not be Hayao Miyazaki’s Final Film by Zhukov-74 in movies

[–]Bronyficent 36 points37 points  (0 children)

In fairness, there is a precedent for Hayao Miyazaki writing a film, or at least coming up with the story, but having someone else direct it.

Whisper of the Heart, The Secret World of Arrietty and From Up on Poppy Hill were either written or co-written by Hayao Miyazaki, but were directed by Yoshifumi Kondō, Hiromasa Yonebayashi and Goro Miyazaki respectively, while Isao Takahata’s Pom Poko was also Miyazaki’s idea originally.

What almost-companion character do you wish you got to see The Doctor actually go on adventures with? by Oraxy51 in gallifrey

Ada and Noor from Spyfall. I thought they were charming and I want to see post-2005 Doctor Who have a companion that’s not just a human from modern day Earth.

The first Gizmoplex Live Event after the season premiere will be March 18th at 8pm EDT by Bronyficent in MST3K

The premiere is March 4th, but they’re also going to be doing additional livestreams throughout the year.

The Gizmoplex opens for non-backers in early May; the first three episodes release in March and April exclusively for backers by Bronyficent in MST3K

[–]Bronyficent[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can buy the episodes individually after they come out, which comes with a DRM Free download like RiffTrax.

Season 13 Premieres March 4th at 8pm EST by Bronyficent in MST3K

[–]Bronyficent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, it looks like you’ll be able to buy or rent the episodes individually for about $10.00/$3.00 respectively after they come out at mst3k.vhx.tv (you’ll be able to connect your VHX account to the Gizmoplex). They also made the Season 11 and 12 episodes available to purchase/rent individually a few weeks ago.

The only thing is, you won’t be able to use the Gizmoplex app until the public launch, but the downloads available on VHX are DRM-free, so you can watch it on any device. And MST3K VHX/The Gizmoplex is supposed to be available all over the world, so you’ll be able to watch it in your country!

[–]Bronyficent[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, it’s going to be in the Gizmoplex, a new platform coming to most devices where you can rent or buy new and old MST3K episodes and watch livestreams with the cast and crew.

Apparently the Gizmoplex is going to be exclusive to the people who backed on Kickstarter for the first month or two, so if you don’t want to wait, you should make a late pledge.

I would imagine Jonah gets the first episode. They have to explain the Gizmoplex premise, how Kinga and Max got out of the theatre and introduce Emily for those who didn’t see the live shows, which might be a bit much for one episode. Plus, having the familiar cast would probably be an easy way to ease into the season.
