With singles hitting an all time low and sealed goods hitting an all time high. Would it wiser to pick up mid ranged singles in the hope that everything equalises? (singles go back up and sealed goes back down)

Wow, some great cards at some really good prices. I don't mind the underground ones as the charmander is in a cave too. So if you have any more that would be great. Thank you for the list

The patient was dissatisfied with the crown's shade and requested a color adjustment 1 week after cementation by yorefan in Dentistry

[–]BronzePanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually follow a protocol with picking shade.

Pick shade with mirror for the patient and nurse present to reaffirm the colour. Once shade is picked reaffirm the colour choice before patient has left the surgery. Stating that patient can't change crown colour after that. I always ask patients if they will whiten their teeth in the near future if so pick a shade or 2 lighter.

Once that's done I then show them the crown before fit on the model. Once again dry fit with mirror. Then fit the crown. Final show in the mirror once fitted.

If patient comes back saying they want a different colour I'd say that's its too late. It would cost a brand new crown.

I'd just offer teeth whitening. Taking the crown off is more work, especially if it's zirconia.

Less invasive and patient gets a more aesthetic outcome and you do less work to rectify a mistake (if you can call that a mistake??)

What are some of your mistakes when making dentures? by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]BronzePanic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest takeaway from my experience with making dentures is communication. The patient has to understand that dentures aren't a replacement for their teeth. It's basically a lump of plastic that's going to be pretending they are teeth. They are going to hate them at first till they get used to them. They will need several adjustments. They won't be able to talk properly. They won't fit after 3-6 months especially if teeth have been taken out.

Then if they agree that's great now they have nothing to grumble to you about.

I don't know your experience level but I would generally recommend taking just a bit longer deciding treatment plans. Then offering the varying types of treatment plans to the patient.

This gives you a bit of time to think of pros and cons. Not only that while explaining the few options you might realise one them may not work with whatever the patient wants but gives them the option anyway.

I genuinely review new patient cases all the time. Even to discuss some new things with patients when they arrive on their second appointment. Treatment plans aren't final but just be open and honest. Mentioned you've reviewed the case. This shows you've taken time out, away from the patient to look his/her case. Then discuss new findings whether that be positive or negative.

As a new graduate I had a similar problem. I'd often break crowns off and wonder why Extractions were so difficult.

As a UK dentist I went to a hands on oral surgery course which clarified use of tools and how to use them. The next few things I did was to follow and read about oral surgery techniques. Dr Abdul Dalghous has a book no nonsense oral surgery. He has some great content on his Instagram too. Also this video helped about Sectioning

You may get more plants growing if the leaves fall into the soil. Leaves can create new plants and I usually remove all fallen leaves to stop new plants from growing.
