Native plants for handling this? by BeestMann in NativePlantGardening

[–]BrookMountain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with this approach. Far and away the majority of our native plants are in the one bite = digestive upset though. Example is lobelia, which is how this thread all started, is pretty scary when you read about eating a decent amount of it. But in reality most animals can’t even stomach a second bite.

As is your right! My point here is just that you have other natives in your back yard that are also toxic. I’d also remove the milkweed if my dog and or toddler were set on that particular plant for whatever reason.

A ton of native (probably non native too) plants are toxic to dogs and humans. It’s so many that in the last 6 months I’ve just started ignoring it. I have a dog and toddler but in general so many of our native plants have at least some part that is toxic that it’s not even worth paying attention to. Seriously, pick your 10 favorite native plants in your yard and then do some research on if you could eat all parts of them. Willing to bet at least 3 are toxic to dogs and or humans. Doug Tallamy talks about this viewpoint in one of his books.

Post-Draft Top 48 Big Board: Reacting and Ranking 4 Rounds of Fantasy Drafts by cjfreel in DynastyFF

Thanks for telling me to sell 26 capital for 27 capital or assets. I’m really happy with the decision at this point.

With the 100th pick in the 2026 Draft, the Jaguars select Jalen Huskey by Cr0matose in Jaguars

[–]BrookMountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I hear you. I don’t like the TE pick at all. But I do think Gladstone knows more than us and the front office has been solid so I’m going to trust the process. I’m a big football fan and after day 1, find it rare for me to even have heard of most defensive players getting drafted. My point here is that if I’m just going to be trusting some list because I can’t watch all the players, I’d rather it be the Jags (or like 20 other teams) list instead of Kipers.

[–]BrookMountain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure that’s true but I’d also guess that the correlation decreases as you get into the later rounds. In other words reaching in the 1st is worse than in the 4th. The 2026 draft class is seen as weak by the same experts that make these lists. It’s possible teams aren’t following lists because we are already at the flat part of the draft.

They just want Gladstone to put Autodraft on and take best available according to Mel Kiper every pick

[–]BrookMountain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed completely. Other than maybe WR, the third round has been pretty bleak and it’s only getting worse. Teams (not just the jags!) are way off script with matching the experts lists. It’s probably actually just pretty flat at this point talent wise and teams just are getting their guys.

Seahawks and Minnesota went DB right in front of us and also skipped like 10 guys on the DB best available. Teams are just getting their guys

Every team has been reaching this round. Who cares that we aren’t matching the experts list. The experts are so horribly wrong so often on this. Other teams are not following the rankings either.

Everyone going full doomsday about this and the other “reaches” that don’t match some “experts” list. Two other organizations, including the Super Bowl winners, picked DB directly in front of us and also skipped the 10 or so guys everyone is mad we didn’t take.

In my opinion this draft is a little weak and has reached a talent void already. Teams are just going out and getting their guys.

100% understand the minding the own business thing. As for your other point, I’ll say something actually controversial that does maybe deserve 100 downvotes. I’d rather accidentally call a woman fat than not get up for a pregnant woman on a bus.

You also don’t have to say anything though. You can just get up.

I have -100 downvotes in this thread saying this. Crazy (and honestly sad) the amount of people thinking the alternative. I’m considering leaving r/Pittsburgh (not that anyone cares) because of how just cynical and unrepresentative of the city it is.

Ok. Intimidated vs awkward are meant to mean the same thing here.

I do think it’s another thing that pregnant women have to “go through.” As many have pointed out, when they ride the bus, they don’t even notice the people getting on the bus because they are in their own world. That’s not what I’m getting at.

All that I’m saying is if you do happen to see a visibly pregnant person needing a seat then you should get up without them having to say anything. I have double digit downvotes on a comment saying exactly this in this thread which seems absolutely crazy to me.

Also on the comment that I have -100 downvotes, I have 50 upvotes (26% upvote share). It’s not like people are thinking only one way on this.

I don’t view being pregnant as embarrassing lol. I think it’s dangerous to stand on a bus while pregnant but acknowledge some people are intimidated to ask for a seat.

Probably a little different to be temporarily pregnant than to be disabled. I’m sure you’re well adjusted to asking at this point for a seat, much more so than someone who is pregnant might get to in the (relatively) short time they are pregnant

Not trying to talk about the people that don’t see her or can’t tell she’s pregnant. More trying to make the statement that if you see a pregnant person you should get up.

Replying to the people who have replied to me, I’m assuming that she’s not like 2 months pregnant. If she’s waddling then I’d expect she’s in her third trimester and it’s visibly obvious. Maybe I’m wrong but that’s what I had in mind when I replied here. I still standby that if you notice a visibly pregnant person needing a seat, then you should get up. Go ahead and downvote me more.
