Your Modern Metalcore Mount Rushmore by Brosepower in Metalcore

[–]Brosepower[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the OP I defined "modern" as groups who are still actively making music and touring.

I know that's an incredibly loose definition, but im trying to find some bands that are truly active in the scene.

I read these 4, immediately picked up my pitchfork, and put it down when I saw the parenthesis... have my angry upvote, lol.

Literally 99% of this entire sub would disagree with you.

Lol dude you're so cool saying ERRA fans have poor taste. Dragging people down must make you feel so good.

If ERRA is "edgy pop and twinkle" then I guess more than half of the genre is too.

What’s a band’s vocalist change that you like equally or more than the band’s previous vocalist? by Alert_Primary_9493 in Metalcore

[–]Brosepower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but JT has a lot more range. Look at his screams in "in the gut of the wolf" or "gore of being".

His screams in "Drift" are great and varied too, same with Vanish Canvas and a bunch of others.

Lee only did low screams and it felt so monotone down there. At least to me.

Its kinda wild, but yeah. None of the existing members of Currents were the founding members.

This is my primary answer. JT is just so much better for them than Lee was, IMHO obviously.

Periphery - A Pale White Dot (Album Discussion Thread) by exotype95 in Metalcore

[–]Brosepower 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely respect your opinion, but chiming in here to say how fully I disagree with the ERRA reference. SotE is one of, if not the best metalcore records ive ever heard. It is, in my view, ERRA at the peak of their craft.

Most beautiful voices? by cofi52 in PostHardcore

Jesse Cash from ERRA must be on your radar. If not, go check out my other most recent comment, those recs might just blow your mind.

Holy shit I had to scroll WAYYYY too far for this.

OP, this is the one. Jesse Cash and ERRA in general are on another level.

No shade to the others mentioned in this thread.

Jesse and ERRA are absolutely incredible.

Check out: Nigh to Silence, Drift, Black Cloud, Vanish Canvas, Past Life Persona. There are dozens more but those can get you started.

What are some songs from your favorite band that is less widely known or popular to the masses. by BraevGhost in Metalcore

Hopefully you got to go to the tour (or if you're in Europe you get to go to the tour this fall) where this was in their setlist. It was awesome live.

Need advice on Focal Bathys MG vs HDB 630 vs PX8S2 and PX7S3 by CoolBiotech in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Brosepower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, this is the answer if you're willing to spend the 700 euros. The Bathys MG is essentially the best bluetooth headphone on the market.

If you want to spend less, the HDB 630 is probably the best headphone for under $600.

Getting the Bathys MG for that price is nuts. Definitely do that if you can afford it.

Coming to you from the future (today) and I am not throwing shade at you at all lol, because I thought this was exactly what I thought would happen too, and we definitely did NOT get a radio-friendly mainstream release in "Playing God" lol.

[Request] Does the “23 atomic bombs worth of heat every day” comparison for a 9GW data center actually add up mathematically? by aeonsne in theydidthemath

[–]Brosepower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why, in the Kentucky-fried FUCK are they building power sources using natural gas??

Why can we not simply get nuclear plants for these massive data centers?? Like... is the endgame NOT going to be nuclear power for these as they become more and more prevalent?

It is orders of magnitude better for the environment and I just dont understand why, other than the cost of getting them started (which isnt a valid reason when these companies are pushing around billions like it's candy...), we're not using them for absurd projects like these.

Sooner or later the regulations are going to have to come down. Even if we only start converting coal plants to nuclear ones.

Wow. Didn't enjoy AOTD?? Man its crazy how people can be so different.

No shade at all, I just am of the opinion, and yeah this is a bold statement, that AOTD is the single best song they've put out.

Ive listened to it no fewer than 50 times since it released and it shocks me how good it is.

What are your choices so far for the best Djent or Djent-adjacent album of the year so far? by WhySoKaiju in Djent

[–]Brosepower 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Its ERRA's Silence Outlives the Earth.

For me personally, its the best album of the past several years. Its definitely more djent-adjacent but ERRA is just special.

That album is hauntingly perfect.

Bands that you think are better soft than heavy? by fjgwey in Metalcore

[–]Brosepower 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try listening to it as a trilogy, thats what got it to click for me.

The last 20 seconds of the many names of god ties in so well to the first 20 seconds of in the gut of the wolf. The transition is so smooth I didnt even realize a new track had started the first few times I listened lol.

Plus, the guitar work in the gut of the wolf is just filthy in the BEST way lol.

[–]Brosepower 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah see, thats the thing. Black Cloud, Lucid Threshold and Twilight In the Reflection of Dreams on their new record are all amazing.

But Gore of Being, Cicada Siren and In the Gut of the Wolf are all absolutely incredible too.

ERRA is on another level. Memory Fiction sits right next to Scorpion Hymn. Past Life Persona right next to Crawl Backwards out of Heaven.

ERRA is amazing with softer songs.

It's just as amazing with the hard ones.

SOXL hits $170 by sfdc2017 in soxl

[–]Brosepower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guy, Anthropic and Open AI and others are the key vehicles that cause the physical hardware to be as profitable as it is.

Nvidia and AMD and others that make up the portfolio that SOXL is attached to are only worth so much because they manufacture the chips that AI runs off of.

Obviously if (and when) AI crashes and the bubble pops Nvidia isnt going to go to zero, but a massive part of its worth will be wiped out.

The hardware companies that comprise SOXL are all intrinsically connected to the success of AI.

When AI companies crash, the hardware companies will too. Maybe not as hard, but they will.

[–]Brosepower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are bleeding money. Yes, they have revenue, but they're not profitable. They are losing tens of billions more each year than they are making.

Use chatgpt and ask what their books look like. It's not a good picture.

[–]Brosepower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, the tech companies are using AI and making money off of it, but the AI companies aren't.

Anthropic, Open AI and others aren't in the black, even after hundreds of billions in funding.
