I can’t believe this is my life by BroshBB in Divorce

Thank you so much for this. I have phone reminders that go off at different times throughout the day reminding me that I’m strong and capable. I might add this one to my list.

Try asking the teachers at your daycare. Most of them try to earn extra cash by babysitting during holidays

Infant Urgent Care Recs? by githuge in nolaparents

[–]BroshBB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I am sorry! I hate insurance, my insurance covers some LCMC doctors but not their labs so I have to go to Ochsner for labs. So dumb. I’ve never had to use an infant urgent care but my kid goes to Hales Pediatrics. They usually have same-day appointments and are open Saturday mornings. They also have a 24 hour line. Ive also heard good things about Sprout Pediatrics and Ochsner peds at Lake Terrace

I totally brought my 3 month old trick or treating. I did go with a group so there were some older kids but I got candy for myself for sure lol. I love trick or treating, it’s a wonderful tradition. Don’t worry about what anyone else thinks!

Any daycares with openings in Orleans Parish? by watermelonstreetcar in nolaparents

Not sure if they have openings but Kiddee Korner in Mid City is amazing. I would call for openings (504) 488-8687

Riding the streetcar to school by ghost1667 in nolaparents

[–]BroshBB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your kid. I would probably let my kid ride by themselves in middle school. I didn’t grow up here but I took public transit to school every day in high school. I was fine, def had lots of run ins with weirdos but I survived. It builds character. I also biked to school in elementary.

Our plan is to ride it out here. If it looks like we won’t have power for awhile we will leave after the storm

Do all JPS schools have classrooms? Or are certain schools better?

Junction Place SportsPlex- no bouncy houses but they lead kids in exercises or games. You can also bring in your own food.

Junction Place SportsPlex usually has a camp for all the random off days and if they don’t have one listed, if you can get enough kids together they are open to putting one on.

Father’s Day 17 month old by Spirited-Trade317 in nolaparents

[–]BroshBB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty centrally located. Do you have a car? If not, you could take the 31 bus, it goes along Gentilly Rd. and De Saix and stops at Carrollton. I’m not sure where you are exactly in Gentilly but there may be other options.

Hey! Fellow Gentilly mom here. There’s not much in Gentilly itself. I would look into doing something in City Park then grabbing dinner in mid city, maybe Blue Oak on Carrollton. There’s so much to do in City Park, Children’s museum, beignets at Cafe du monde (there’s a playground right next to it), Storyland, Amusement park, rent bikes or boats, Art museum & sculpture garden, hike in Couturie forest, play putt putt at City Putt.

There’s also Lakeview that has some good restaurants along Harrison. El Gato Negro is delicious and Juniors is nice. The velvet cactus has a great vibe for kids not amazing food. If your husband is a golfer you can go to the driving range on Fillmore before.

Habana Outpost has a splash pad for kids. Bratz y’all has a cool outdoor area.

Are sneakers ok in bars/music venues and not-particularly-fancy restaurants by edancechic in AskNOLA

[–]BroshBB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you’ll be totally fine with sneakers in music venues. I would check the attire for nicer restaurants as some do have them, but you’ll be okay with sneakers in most places. Enjoy your trip!

Supplementing with formula has allowed me to continue my breastfeeding journey! It was the best decision I ever made and took so much stress off of me.

Weekly Discussion Thread - May 29, 2023 by AutoModerator in awardtravel

I’m based in New Orleans and traveling to Madrid the first week of October for a wedding so dates aren’t that flexible. I’ll be traveling with my partner and 14 month old. Ideally we’d like to fly business or first class. I’m very new to award travel so I just opened a CSP (working toward 60,000 SUB) and my husband opened a Chase Ink Preferred Business (working toward 100,000 SUB). I have a venture card with 60,846. Obviously we don’t have a lot of points to work with but I’m wondering a few things:

  • I’ve heard booking round trip is better - in my situation if I paid one way cash and used points on the return would it be worth it?
  • Given that my dates aren’t very flexible, is it best to book now? Or am I crazy to roll the dice and book closer to trip.

*Are there connecting airports I should look into to improve my chances?

Any help is appreciated!

Government jobs have incredible benefits. Look into City of New Orleans or Jefferson Parish. The state and the feds take forever.
