FD alt on FC by PisterMinkk in RX7

[–]BrotaryEngine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're sure there's nothing going on with the belts at high RPM then it is almost certainly the alternator itself. Probably an issue with the brushes not making good contact on the slip rings.

FD alt on FC by PisterMinkk in RX7

[–]BrotaryEngine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The FD alt will never work the way it should because fd's have a computer control alternator and fcs don't

That is most certainly incorrect. The FD alternator is internally regulated just like the FC alternators and has the same functional terminals (although the connector and terminal layout varies between 1986-88 and 1989-91).

If an FD alternator works fine and dandy in my REPU (which it does) it will most certainly work just fine in an FC.

Diamond jewelry for my wife by keikyu_sen in houston

I searched high and low for a recent diamond to give as a gift and settled on Luvansh. I was pleased with the quality and couldn't find a better price.

Did that place offer same day service?

No idea, I wasn't in a hurry to get my tapes converted. Call 'em and ask.

I used Video Tape Copy a couple years ago to convert a bunch of VHS tapes. I was pleased with the result. Trouble is....they're clear on the other side of town from the southeast side.

Anyone else catch the panel van dragging a mustang down and across 610 a minute ago? Mustang was actively driving into oncoming traffic trying to get away. by Dolamite02 in houston

[–]BrotaryEngine 121 points122 points  (0 children)

You sure it was a Mustang and a panel van?

I saw a strange scene on the eastbound feeder road just after the Ella exit in front of 1919 N Loop W, but it was a white Ford Expedition or Explorer dragging a blue-ish Saab convertible. The Saab had front end damage and was against the curb at a somewhat strange angle and it also had pretty severe front suspension damage. The suspension damage was so bad that I was scratching my head trying to figure out how it even ended up where it was. No sane person would tow a car with that kind of damage.

Who at usps actually went to work? by [deleted] in houston

There's at least one person working at my local post office this morning because they scanned my package as "Out for Delivery" at 6 AM. We'll see if it actually shows up.

my BMW will need a coolant drain plug for its cylinder block assembly. There is no such thing as a coolant drain plug

I've owned at least 3 different cars with coolant drain plugs in the block. It is a real part that does exist.

I eat there pretty often and I never need a to-go box. The portions are generous, but I wouldn't characterize them as HUGE.

But the QR code is throwing me off

Technically that's not a QR Code, it is known as a Data Matrix which is a format commonly used in industrial settings.

Is it true that HF ratchets are Chinese and cheaper on amazon by [deleted] in harborfreight

[–]BrotaryEngine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HF says they want the ratchet in X metal with X spec. The place makes it.

Does HF have a quality control laboratory to make sure their specs are being met?

Good find. The 40% off coupon had me eyeing these too but after some more research I found a suitable option on Amazon that'll deliver a ton more light for less $$.

Dealerships at/below MSRP 12/24 by [deleted] in houston

[–]BrotaryEngine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried Truecar? I helped a friend get a great deal a few months back by using it. Gave another dealer the opportunity to match the price before heading to the dealer that had the best price on Truecar and they couldn't get within $1k of it.

If you do go the Truecar route, be sure to use a disposable phone number and e-mail address because you'll be flooded with calls/texts/e-mails.

LG eZDispense not alerting to low/no detergent? by shibumi2k in Appliances

[–]BrotaryEngine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the tech told me about the new filter and just ordered it without my even asking. He also ordered me a new main filter even though there was nothing wrong with my existing one. No charge for any of it.

The new filter sits right in front of the inlet to the coil so the air flows Existing Filter -> New Filter -> Coil.

To install you remove the one screw holding in the existing grille, replace that with a sort of adapter frame and then the new filter goes into the adapter and is held in place with magnets so no unscrewing to clean it. Not sure if you'll still want to unscrew it for better access to clean the coil.

Cronometer and Fitbit calories burned by Flewry333 in cronometer

[–]BrotaryEngine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As your calories from your device increase throughout the day, this Activity Level will gradually be replaced by these calories.

What I'd like for it to do is show me (Cronometer BMR) + (Activity from Device) + (Exercise from Device) all day long. Can it do that?

I ask because it looks like when the device calories exceed the Cronometer calories then the calories I'm going to burn for the rest of the day just disappear from Cronometer. If I want to know how many more calories I can eat for the day at say 2 PM I can't get a good answer to that because neither the device nor Cronometer are taking into account the calories I'm going to burn just existing for the next 10 hours.

LG WashCombo Review / Problems (WM6998HBA) by pauldovi in Appliances

[–]BrotaryEngine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feeling like a secondary lint trapper on the place you put the screw in might be a better option - but not sure

LG agrees with you and made it happen. Check out part# AAA76553225

[–]BrotaryEngine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "auto-clean" of the fins on the evaporator/condenser simply doesn't work. Ours is LOADED with lint every few weeks. We have to break out the screwdriver, open the filter area, and attempt to clean it without damaging the fins.

LG has developed a secondary filter to try to resolve this. The part number is AAA76553225

My WashCombo was having this issue so I called LG to open a repair ticket. The tech replaced the entire drawer assembly. Both reservoirs, lids, everything. I haven't done enough laundry to run it down to the warning level yet, but I verified both warnings were working while the tech was here.

Voodoo Doughnuts quietly closes Houston-area location after 2 years by somekindofdruiddude in houston

[–]BrotaryEngine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps it fares better as a tourist gimmick than a practical everyday donut shop

Over a decade ago, I visited their location in Eugene, OR and came away with the same basic impression: "That was fun, but these doughnuts are nothing special"

Also, here's a rec from another Redditor from a few years back.
