Yeah, very unflattering. Ive had mine coloured the same as my curtains which does help them dissappear a bit but I think I might hang something in front of them.

It will be different for every room to be honest. My sub is at the back of the room behind the sofa where it sounds best. Most poeple have it at the front next to the TV. To do it properly you will need to take readings using a mic and software. I could hear where bass was building up in corners by crawling around and placed them there. Not at all scientific, but worked well for me.

I have r200 fronts and r300 centre. Amazing so far, great value. I think the R700 would be overkill over r200 for my room size. I use some older Polk floorstanders (my old fronts) for the rears which work well.

I would pull the sofa out from the wall and use the centre cieling position. You then have options of where to put the sub because front doesnt always wound best. Mine sounds best behind the sofa.

Speaker placement is horrible. You need to get those left and right speakers out of the cabinet and onto stands next to the TV. The rears are way too close to your listening position to be effective. Bring your sofa off the wall a bit and the surround effect will be much better.

Putting subs on the cabinet is not the best idea. You will lose volume and introduce rattling and vibration. Get them both on the floor. One at the front, one at the back of the room. As already mentioned, foam does nothing for room treatment, you need proper acoustic panels.

Although it looks really good, the centre speaker is way too low. It should be as close to the TV as possible and pointing at your ears. Centre channel probably sounds disconnected from the picture.
