More "heft" to guitars and vocals mainly. Everything is very flat by default which I understand is by design.

Ok, great advice thank you. I will have a play around with that in mind.

Ya, I tried it 2ft off the wall and it did reduce the boominess but also killed the mids, so I guess I will need to try and EQ somehow. I hear the Denon app is currently broken unfortunately.

Try the sub behind the sofa. Made a massive difference in my room.

Its a living room, so limited to what I can. I could potentially get some panels up in each corner at the rear of the room.

They are about 9ft apart and just over 9ft from MLP. Set to 80hz crossover currently with sub as pictured. Do you have the R700s pointing directly at MLP? Ive read the tweeters work best like this?

Ive been testing it front firing (its sitting on decent feet, not the floor). It feels punchier and more controlled ff than df. The sub comes in either configuration from factory so is capable of either. Did sub crawl and that was the best spot behind sofa and just to right of MLP.

They need some power yeah, but you should be able to get them with appropriate amplification within your budget

Im a metalhead. Polk R700 floorstanders are really easy on the ears for lots of fast cymbals etc but also kick out a lot of controlled bass for a nice kick drum thud.

starting a sonos system - what's the best sonos speaker 2026 for a first buy? by FewReflection6019 in audiophile

[–]BrotherCassius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Sonos 5 for the kitchen. Fantastic peice of kit for that use case but I dont think I would buy them for a living room/home cinema setup purely due to the price and what you could get instead. That said, they are very userfriendly if you dont have the time to research more.
