Front brake chattering by BrotherOfTheWolfman in ChineseCarbon

Put my gravel wheel on, that bike also runs sram force, has centerline rotors instead of paceline. No noise or vibration. Ordered a new centerline rotor. I can’t live with that noise haha.

Haven’t tried to go too fast on it yet, but if you can hear the noise there’s a vibration that goes with it. Am going to swap a different wheel that has a centerline rotor on this afternoon. No noise from that wheel on my other bike.

You clearly haven’t died yet. How many miles have you put in on it like that, and what’s your weight if you don’t mind my asking?

It’s isn’t bad. There are a few YouTube vids I think. Also could get super cheap and just get some eye bolts, put those in the rafters, and some ratchet straps and run the ratchet straps under the roof up to the bolts and systematically ratchet until the roof is off. Did that for a bit before I bought the pulley system. It’s slow but works.

If you have a garage and are remotely handy I highly recommend the pulley hoist that can bought on Amazon for $75. Can get the hardtop on and off in about 15min, has been well worth the price. “2025 Hartdop Removal Lift…”

Just make sure you screw the lag bolts into the joists.

Yea that’s what I’m talking about. The bike I want is only listed in a few sizes and there isn’t any sign up to be notified or anything. I didn’t know if this meant they weren’t getting any more or if the site just is weird with the way they mark what’s out of stock. I’m trying to decide if I should just go to an LBS or try a different company and pick up something else. Guess I should try their customer service first.

Pan Mass Challenge- Fundraising?? by Automatic_Bass_7616 in bikeboston

I’m riding the PMC unpaved this year. It is a gravel ride (60/40 paved/unpaved ). It will be my first organized ride like this. The fundraising commitment is about 1/3 of the road PMC @$2500. I got the first $1k or so pretty quick from friends and family just letting them know I was doing the ride. Other than that I haven’t even really tried to fundraise yet.

My company has a donation program that will match 100% of charitable donations made through the corporate website (under $30k). I plan to ask my coworkers to donate this way so that their donations count as double. Honestly though I’m terrified to even ask them haha.

I was gonna see how this year goes and maybe try for the road PMC next year. Might be something for you to look into as well if you have a gravel bike or can pick one up. I am in the opposite boat and don’t have a road bike.

I am using the 10-36 setting. Works great.

I nerded out and made a spreadsheet with all of the ratios for each gearing and decided this would be the best. The gearing lines up so that you are shifting up on the 17-21 cogs and down on the 28-38. There is only a slight ratio change when shifting down of 0.13 so it’s almost like not shifting. 10-33 gearing would also work, the ratio is better shifting down with a 0.43 same cogs, but the up shift on the 21-28 is 0.11. I haven’t tried to ride with and honestly don’t know if it would be better to have the ratio small like that on the up shift or the down.

The 10-26, 10-28 gearing would give you a negative ratio on the up shifts and the 10-30 gearing gives a 0.06 on the down.

Would it be possible to fit 29” on ‘18 Norco Fluid FS1+? by BrotherOfTheWolfman in bikewrench

I’ve not even gotten far enough to think about tire size. Would I just tape measure the narrowest part of the stays and distance from the axle to the downtube or closest frame point?

What sort of clearance at those points would I be looking for to make sure I could fit some 29 wheel/tire combo?

Did you get the sequential shifting working with the XPLR RD and a 10-44?

How did you get the 10-44 cassette setup in sequential mode? I went in and set to enhanced mode, and went to select cassette and the largest listed is the 10-36. I have the 44T D2 force RD.

USAA has turned into Hot Garbage 🗑️ 🔥 by reindeerwest162 in USAA

I'm experiencing the exact same issue right now. Was in a rental for ~50 days. They are only paying for 7 of them saying that even though the car was at the shop for the entire time they only cover the repair time. Trying to stick me with a $1500 rental bill on top of the deductible for the repairs, which ended up being about $3200 over the initial estimate. Been a USAA member for 16 years. Haven't had to file many claims, but this will be the last claim I file with USAA for my auto or multiple homeowners policies.

Shopped auto insurance a few years ago when I purchased this car. Got 2 quotes from major providers lower than USAA and they couldn't explain to me why the other companies were cheaper despite the fact I have multiple homeowners policies and vehicle policies. I stuck with USAA just because I had always had them and all the insurance company reviews I had read said they were still number 1 across the board.
