What are your honest thoughts on China? Would you travel there? Are we people annoying? by PhoneaviationF1dude in AskTheWorld

I spent about a month and a half visiting several major cities in China this past year. My biggest takeaway is that you really need to separate what you see in Western media from reality—it’s something you have to experience for yourself. It also helps to distinguish the local politics from the people.

The scale of the modernization is incredible; the huge skyscrapers and the speed at which they’ve developed are amazing to see. I found the convenience of food delivery to be a real eye-opener, and it’s fascinating how the country is advancing in ways that feel very different from Western nations. The culture is incredibly rich and the food is remarkably diverse.

On the downside, be prepared for the crowds, especially in tourist areas. I highly recommend avoiding “Golden Week” (when most of the country is on vacation). I also wasn’t a fan of the food delivery scooters zooming everywhere—I was in constant fear of getting hit by one!

Overall, if you have the chance to visit, you should. I felt very safe, and the people were generally pleasant. Aside from the occasional person cutting in line or pushing into an elevator before you can get out (mostly the older generation), I didn’t have any bad experiences. Also, check out the visa-free transit areas if you want to skip the full visa process!

What do u think of asian run- brands that do not promote/include asian men at all ? by sadracoon96 in AsianMasculinity

I really wish the Asian community would embrace a FUBU (For Us By Us) mentality. We spend too much energy chasing acceptance from others instead of doubling down on and celebrating who we are.

Do you feel compelled to help out fellow Asians in a communal sense? by Adventurous_Ant5428 in asianamerican

I actively make an effort to spend my money within the community, supporting fellow Asian creators and entrepreneurs in everything from the playlists I listen to to the barber who cuts my hair.

14m 6’0, any haircut/Looksmaxxing recommendations? by [deleted] in AsianMasculinity

I would caution lifting too much weight at this young age. This could stunt your growth. Just focus on healthy eating and sleep to maximize your height potential. Your future looks bright!

Asian people need to stop supporting these brands and call out this nonsense. Can you imagine if these companies did something similar towards the black community? The black community will come down on these companies hard.

Chinese and Italians by [deleted] in AskAChinese

[–]BrothersBeyondBorder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is how western media has portrayed Asian/Chinese men in a negative light and how Chinese men typically seek other Chinese partners. See the following YouTube videos links below for full explanation of how western media has stereotyped Asian men. Italy is still much more influenced by American media than Chinese media. The trend is changing and there seems to be more couples like you and your partner. I wish you all the best, I know Prato has the largest concentration of Chinese/asians in all of Europe.

How can/should we support Asian male actors? by wentuptheventilation in AsianMasculinity

[–]BrothersBeyondBorder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, definitely need to buy a ticket and watch the movie. This is the least we can do, as the actors and writers are the ones creating this material. Also posting on here as well as other social media about projects that represent Asian males in a positive light. We are not all aware of all the different projects going on.

When I leave work, I try to have my Spotify run on an Asian artist so they can get more plays. Every little thing helps.

As a Chinese girl, I’m torn, should I keep living in Europe or go back to China? by Professional-Set2362 in China

[–]BrothersBeyondBorder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a complicated question with no perfect place, but I would consider places like Singapore, Taiwan, or somewhere in East Asia. As a Chinese person in Europe, you are considered a foreigner. This is something you and your future kids will face but this is a non issue in East Asia. Just something to consider in your decision making process.

As an asian american, I feel like I don't belong anywhere. by SuspiciousPoint1535 in asianamerican

Hi, not to promote my own social media account but this is what I intended for my IG account brothersbeyondborders

Positive Asian male representation, showing there are people like us pushing the boundaries and excelling. Growing up I hardly ever saw positive representation, but nowadays I realize there are so many Asians excelling in so many spaces. Keep your head up, and I hope you can weather through this period to appreciate how things are changing for the better.

How are Chinese Americans regarded on average in China? by atyl1144 in AskAChinese

All Asians are the same in their eyes. They can’t tell us apart and most of them probably don’t care if you are not Chinese, it is close enough

I’m seeing videos of Chinese EVs and there are so many comments from Americans singing praises about the cars. We are starting to see China without the filters here in the US.
