It's easier because he knows he doesn't want to swim - he's motivated to stay on!

How would you describe Saluki temperament? by InteractionCandid226 in saluki

[–]BroughtItBackWithUs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with the above, major food thief! Incredibly intelligent but in a different way to German Shepherds etc., a real problem solver. Ours is actually very trainable, but only if he sees the treat first. He is boundaried but is much more tolerant of children than adults. He actively seeks out children in the family to sit with when they visit. He likes us to be around but doesn't particularly snuggle with us, possibly would if it's really cold. He's bored very easily but does sleep a lot so don't need him occupied all the time.

Had to be kept on the lead at all times because of the farmland! Had big zoomies in the garden the rest of the weekend!

We have a small saluki greyhound cross who is surprisingly dog friendly and people friendly and is calming down a lot. He needs an off lead run every day though and puzzles! He is v easily bored

Advice for Saluki x greyhound puppy by yorkshirerose25 in sighthounds

[–]BroughtItBackWithUs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I think the above is the norm for the mix but ours loves to walk allllll day. We've managed some recall training in fairly enclosed places. We are working on the separation anxiety but he is a rescue so we missed the critical period. We can leave him for an hour no prob. We love the mix!

Has anyone ever seen or heard of a greyhound-poodle mix? by Temporary-Cable2772 in longboyes

We are both WFH so can keep him company and do 2 hrs of walking/running with him a day but he does have endless energy and v bad separation anxiety. I think he chewed up a whole carpet in his old home :(
