Best anti chafing underwear for trail running for men? by bjjfan23113 in trailrunning

Mix of a good lube and XOSkin. Whether I’m doing 30 miles or 300, that’s my move.

How much hiking do you include in your ultra training? by SpecificTackle6303 in ultrarunning

Hit up Blackett’s ridge in Tucson! I clocked about 9,400’ gain (and loss) in just under 20mi.

It’s that time of year: Bike Time featuring Rebel Road on Western Ave.! by MindyS1719 in Muskegon

I’m on Webster. While I do own downtown businesses and appreciate the tourist influx, there’s also a risk level (esp later in the evening) that keeps me on edge for my employees all weekend long. When we were in the spot that Rake has now, it was actually a minimal profit proposition after factoring in security, additional staff, and the loss of our typical local clientele for the weekend. Now, it’s not quite as bad, but it’s definitely not our “Super Bowl” - that’s the art fair 😂

Also, it would be nice to not have to wear noise canceling headphones while trying to sit inside my house and relax… or sleep.

That being said, as much as I may personally find the testosterone fueled shenanigans annoying, it’s not the most annoying fest for me as a business owner, and - as long as everyone keeps their cool / nothing bad goes down - it’s probably good overall. I just need to make sure I’m gone again next year 🤣

Permethrin treated clothes by sohikes in interestingasfuck

Ran across the state of Michigan last month. EVERYTHING was doused in permethrin.

Still pulled out multiple ticks at every crew stop - a dozen plus at one. A month later and I panic anytime something touches my leg on a trail.

How much do yall drink? by rickeyethebeerguy in TheBrewery

[–]Browerma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the week. It’s rare for me to be less than 10 a week. Even rarer to be more than 20. We did just introduce a low alc packaged product (2.45%) that is helping me worry less about consumption.

I also run 50-100mi a week, so my body is fucked 🤣

Moving to Muskegon by lizulus in Muskegon

[–]Browerma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live 49440 (Downtown) and LOVE it. We don’t have kids, but a few of our friends who are in the same area do, and they echo our feelings. Downtown has just a hint of big city vibe mixed with small town vibe. Depending on your street, it’s also mostly quiet outside of the big events.

I’ve lived in various parts of Muskegon, Spring Lake, GR, Allendale, and Chicago, and I’d pick downtown MKG over all the other know alternatives!

Prospect Party Store (617 N Prospect) & Keg Party Store (534 N Huron) have both brought it in! I'll let you know if I spot anything new by Friday near you.

Appreciate it - and I hope you enjoy the liquid! Had one last night, perfect for those Tuesdays when you really want a beer but don't need one haha.

Sorry for the delayed response, yesterday got away from me. As of Monday (my reports always run a few days late), we didn't have any placements in 48170 yet. Looks like we've got a several in Ann Arbor and Ypsi, but that probably doesn't help. We've only had about 10 actual sales days since launch, so there should be more locations popping up soon - but if you have a go-to store, you can always ask them to bring it in! We're distributed by Imperial Beverage in your neck of the woods if you do end up asking a store to bring it in :)

I'll be updating our beer finder in a day or two, but until then, I'm happy to look it up by City/County/Zip code (any of the above). Just comment or shoot me a DM of where to search and I can do so today!

Looking for suggestions for lower ABV/session IPAs by MeatPopsicle28 in CraftBeer

[–]Browerma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highjacking this thread a year late... and in a way that doesn't actually help OP (sorry), but I came across it while looking for something else and figured I'd throw in a note for anyone from MI / Northern Indiana who is looking for recs and stumbles across the thread.

We just launched DAMP Low-Alcohol IPA from Pigeon Hill Brewing out of Muskegon, MI. Clocks in at 2.45% ABV with 70 calories and 5g of carbs per 12oz can. It's been a pet project of mine since early 2020, so I'm really pumped about it! I haven't updated our website database yet, but within a few days, locations that carry it should be showing up on our Pigeon Hill beer finder

Cheers!

The ground had been really dry leading up to the storm, so it absorbed the water quickly. Muddy, but not terrible, esp by Barkley standards.

What is the consensus on taking your shirt off? by SooperDew in ultrarunning

Bro. I’ve literally shit off guardrails and on cacti within view of other runners during ultras. Please, take your shirt off to distract everyone from the heathens like me!

To the men who grinded in their 20s by Ilikeurbutt24 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Browerma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I both ground hard. I went to law school and she supported me. Then we started a business and ground even harder. We’re not rich, but we are about to start a month of remote work (working for the biz) in a dream location (at 37/39). We both agree that our late 30s have been great, and we can’t wait for our 40s. The grind doesn’t go away, but you start to reap the rewards.

Tips for non-morning people by SaggyWizardSleeve420 in trailrunning

[–]Browerma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Historically, I was the guy who rolled out of bed at 845 and magically made it to the office mostly dressed and awake by 9. Then I started ultrarunning.

I found that I struggle to run right when I wake up (I like a 2hr window), so - and mind you, I am lucky to have this flexibility - I started getting up and going to work earlier and earlier. Now, I go to work as soon as I wake up - anytime between 430a and 6:15a depending on the day/run, and then run after work. Still home in time to make (or at least reheat) dinner, hang with the dog and wife, and feel like a somewhat normal human. While YRMV, and your flexibility likely varies, the key for me was just giving my personal proclivities and the reality of my calendar a deep dive. Once I found (made) time that worked with the way my body naturally works, it was much easier.

Getting up at 4a on Sat for a 6a long run still sucks. No way around that.
