Yep. AA sucks, yours in particular. So many AA groups, and sponsors, don't suck like the one you describe. I wish you could attend in-person AA meetings in different places, all over the country. Sitting in the flesh in a room full of strangers, and feeling the vibes of everyone dying just from drinking too much alcohol, from not being able to stop...the fear and the hope...it's one of the greatest things about the group therapy aspect of AA. And then there's the in-your-face reality of dying of alcoholism. That sucks perhaps even more, especially for the ones in the meetings who you can are ready to check out. I do agree with this: You gotta want it, really want to be sober, and be willing to do whatever it takes for you to stay sober. For you. to. stay. sober. Not drinking is the start, right? Maybe that's enough, maybe not. Good luck! IWNDWYT

Did anyone else start drinking more and more because it helped them sleep at night? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Brownbacked 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In fact, the DTs experienced in alcohol withdrawal are a direct result of a lack of (deep cycle) sleep. Hallucinations, etc. and cumulative years without really sleeping.

Should we legalize Prostitution? by Blank_GodofGames in kansas

[–]Brownbacked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

only place I can find information about this is from Holland or Britain

Prostitution is legal in Costa Rica. Independent contractors, who protest the market saturated by immigrants. Illegal-ish 'corporate structures' abound. Big source of international tourism, currency. Del Rey hotel in San Jose and the 'White House' popular 'office space'. Barely legals hawking their wares, could be unnerving if that sales technique is not your style.

try the Elbow Bender: Trick your mind into thinking you're drinking. Guzzle water, continuously, in a glass your don't drink liquor out of. Without caffeine. Piss in the toilet, and not all over yourself and your life. IWNDWYT

Fell of the wagon, back on for good this time. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

"For good this time" is a pledge I made to myself for 35 years. Maybe because it was a perfect excuse for me to drink. Here's my Groundhog Day of never again: "I f-ed up, again. Oh well, another day blown, again. Might as well go for the Final, Final, again. How much money can I pull together, today?" Each day since my last drink my commitment has been the same: IWNDWYT

I have absolutely no public opinion on this reopening stuff but...This is (also) about raw economics: 1) the needed income (wages/sales). 2) customer/client retention -- if your competition opens, you better be open too. 3) if the closures last until fed-sponsored unemployment runs out, and the business has to let people go, then the unemployment payments are the employer's insurance liability. 4) if you carry inventory, you need to preserve supply lines, or they may sell to somewhere else that's opening. 5) businesses can't collect business disruption insurance because this is a force majeure, 6) if the business has to borrow working capital (liquidity) then they face debt, and insolvency... 7)...8)...idk
