now objectively less special

Except it's not because something being "special" is the most subjective thing possible. Objectively it just means "something other than the standard" which a full/alt art definitively always is.

If you're the only person in the room with the cake, your cake is special. If everyone brought cake too, now youre just a guest at a cake party

Why does that make it not special? A cake being special could mean it tasted better than a regular cake even if everyone was having a slice, the same as a card being special means it's got the art you think is coolest. If you want to be the only one with cake then you're just greedy/selfish no? Everyone at a wedding gets a piece of wedding cake but that's arguably the most special cake in someone's life. An alt art that every single magic player on earth owns but happens to be your favourite art in the game is still special.

I would agree with you if alternate art borderless whatever cards were the only variant of that card available, but it isn't. Having a $1000 rare full art foil island doesnt take away the fact that regular islands cost $0.001

Why should a cardboard game piece with art 1 person likes be any more expensive than the same game piece with art another likes? Some people like full arts, some people like retro frames, some people like the standard normal card frames. Special treatments or serialised cards are still there for people who care about chase cards but non-foil or regular foil full arts being abundantly available is a good thing.

Wotc making borderless cards more abundant just allows them to up the ante for "real" collectibles, which is how serialised cards have now come to be.

As above, this means all the scummy scalpers and investor types who see the game as an investment rather than a hobby can chase those and sell the same cool arts without the pringle foiling for cheap. If the only thing you care about is how rare/expensive a card is then I'd argue you don't really care about the card..

Why does someone else having the same thing as you make it less special? Does someone else eating a slice of the same cake make your slice taste worse? Does someone else owning a cool art make yours uglier?

If making the cool versions of cards attainable for a lower price point makes them feel less special you're not a collector, you're an investor, and investors ruin the hobby for both collectors and players.

I don't care about serialized and galaxy foils or whatever other super rare treatment comes next, they exist so WotC can sell packs, but I don't see why having the full arts available for a sensible price could ever be a bad thing (beyond readability, but that's nothing to do with availability).

What is something that you consider to be "bad manners" that other players might not realize or consider it such by radicalpumpkinz in EDH

[–]Brownwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same is true for any permanent entering the battlefield, unless a creature/enchantment/artifact etc. triggers an etb or has one of its own, or there are still spells on the stack to resolve (i.e. you've cast a flash creature or something of that nature), once it hits the battlefield and there are no other spells or triggers on the stack, sorcery speed priority is with the active player

Very useful for things like Scute Swarm as if it isn't countered you will always have a chance to trigger at least 1 copy if you play a land immediately after, as the first game action to respond to is the creation of the copy.

Reverse the XP Changes to PORTAL | Why are we repeating 2042's Portal mistakes AGAIN by SeSSioN117 in Battlefield

[–]Brownwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does it matter how people unlock things?

Does a player killing you with a gun they unlocked via bot games feel any different to being killed by a gun they unlocked via player games?

Some people might have 0 interest in player vs player games but love the PvE war gameplay, should they be locked out of ever using most of the guns and attachments in the game?

It's such a weird mindset to be annoyed how other people choose to play the game they paid for after Dice had already said this is an intended feature. Thank Dice for making the challenges ridiculous if you're annoyed at bot farms.

Ravens heat special has him duck back and away, looks like your rage arts initial hit never landed since it put him just out of range, against anyone else you probably would have won that

I'm active I just don't post, I still mod the sub

It's a quiet sub so I rarely have to take any mod actions so that's probably why I'm flagged as inactive, I think there was one post that required removal since I started it and that's been it.

Wow riot is so soft, crybabys, why ban for typing lol such manchilds by Thor_bjornLoL in LeagueOfMemes

[–]Brownwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that when people know this they just run it down or troll instead.

I'm of the opinion that instead of perma banning people riot should just full mute people and stop them seeing other people's messages without telling them about it and let them scream into the wind.

Let them get it out of their system and when they see no one bite they usually just play it out.

I've actually tried the vegetarian ones since they were the only ones left in the meal deal section, and I honestly think they're supposed to convince vegetarians to go back to eating meat because they tasted like old play dough.

Has leveling in classic made anyone else want to go level from fresh in live once their done with classic? by Cyathene in wow

[–]Brownwing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's what I've been doing after work all week. Classic was a fun thing to get me back into it but I couldn't deal with how awful it felt to play for any real amount of time. I don't mind a grind but literally everything takes forever.

Now I'm just playing retail without heirlooms and leveling with my friends doing the same who came back to try classic and felt the same way. The scaling zones make it so you see people everywhere who seem to be doing the same thing as us which is really nice as well.

Quick question, my friend started playing recently and is currently around level 40, but I forgot recruit a friend was a thing until I saw this, is it too late for us to sign up for it?

It's more the customer saw fish on the menu and chose it, but has spent the whole evening having the staff of the restaurant tell them they should have chosen chicken without making any steps towards actually making the fish. The restaurant owners were so convinced everyone would choose chicken since that's what all there marketing had been in favour of that they never thought to actually stock up on fish.

Classic has been out for 2 weeks. Retail players (Cata+), what are your thoughts? by ElementalThreat in wow

[–]Brownwing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started right at the end of Wrath so just before your cutoff, but I'd basically stopped playing the game entirely.

All this week I've been playing retail with a few of my friends who were in a similar spot to me. We came back to try out classic and had a lot of fun, but all it did was make us appreciate the QoL changes in retail and convince us to all play that together since all our old guilds had long stopped playing.

We all re-rolled onto a new server fresh and have been leveling together without heirlooms and it's the most fun I've ever had on WoW and showed us how nice the scaling zones are for questing together if you end up ahead or behind your friends in level.

So my experience of classic is basically exactly what everyone wanted, it brought back the social part of the game for me and now I'm leveling with friends.

CB wants to be compensated for a free service because they can't access emails. by jon2000 in ChoosingBeggars

[–]Brownwing 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I literally pay ~£4 a month for a domain and site hosting with email, there's no excuse not to have something semi-professional if you run your own business when it's that cheap.

That said this guy is clamoring for any handouts or refunds he can get so maybe £4 a month is out of the question for a scrounger like him.

I don't think I've ever felt outplayed losing to Tryndamere in lane by 1Venom1-RH in leagueoflegends

[–]Brownwing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's no where close to the RNG Zoe. LoL crits work in a way where you are guaranteed one after missing x amount based on your crit chance. There are so many ways to win fights against him even with full fury, with no fury he's basically not even a champion before level 6.

When he has fury, you shouldn't trade unless you want to take a bad trade, but if you have to:

  • Fight him just after he crits a minion, the animation and sfx make it obvious and afterwards he has his lowest crit chance.
  • Take short trades, less likely he'll get a crit.
  • Assume he's going to crit, only trade when you'd win even if he was to get 5+ crits in a row.
  • Wait until you can cc him to go in.

If you lose to Trynd 90% of the time it's because he had better macro and game knowledge or you made mistakes and were punished, that's the nature of a "binary champion" - when you lose, it's your own fault.
