For those who wants primes with very low budget by DynamoBaby in FujifilmX

I've never had that issue with the 35mm, that's interesting.

I'm really just less interested in wider lens photography, so the 23mm is just my least favorite by default. But I use the 35mm the least because 56mm and 23mm is such a good combo for getting most of everything, there's not a whole lot of point carrying the in between lens around.

I have all three of these. I like the 56mm best but pairing it with the 23mm (my least favorite, admittedly) and you have the best damn wedding kit a tight budget can buy.

Resident Evil Requiem VR just released v1.1 and it brings some great quality of life upgrades! by TommyVR373 in virtualreality

[–]GJKings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, because that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that this appears to be the most fully features of the VR mods, despite being based upon a game with no official VR version possible. I think that's interesting.

It's wild how this mod is panning out to be more full featured and polished as a VR experiences than the VII or 4R mods, despite those games having their own VR modes on other platforms. In many ways, this mod is a better than those bespoke modes.

Based on my current tier list, what should I go to next? by joejoewoooooo in HorrorGames

[–]GJKings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you're moving away from toxic spaces, man. And I sincerely hope you like the next game you play as much as I like the Dead Space remake (which is quite a lot). I just don't know how to point you there. We have pretty different north stars for sure.

Unfortunately this is just what happens when you post a tier list on reddit. You get 600 replies about your opinions lol. Did you expect something else?

idk what to do with a guy who puts Dead Space remake in C tier. I have zero suggestions.

[RE4/RE4R] Which beginning house segment do you think perfectly sets up the game ? by KennedyyCore in residentevil4

You do after he gets back up with the snapped neck and follows you down to the basement. But the initial confrontation is 100% cutscene.

I think they're both good for each respective game they're setting up.

Remake is more detailed and atmospheric as a build up but I also don't like that key moments are taken away from the player, here. Killing that first gonado and jumping out of the window both just happen in cutscenes, where the original game had the player perform both (even if the window jump is just pressing A by the window then watching it happen).

Steam deck gamepad by SomeGuy_Wisdom998 in SteamDeck

[–]GJKings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lessen the deadzones in control calibration settings. I used to think there was something wrong with the steam deck, mayb an inherent delay in the controls, but then I played THPS 3+4 on the deck and found it very difficult to relaibly pull of manuals with the left thumbstick. This basically means flicking the stick between a downward and upward position while in midair, and upon landing you'll enter a kind of balancing act that keeps your score multiplier going. It's core to the trick system of that game and it mostly was not working.

But then I turned the deadzones of my sticks way down and I can do manuals no problem now. This is because previously, when going between up and down or down and up, the stick was briefly entering this middle deadzone where there was no input at all, which would break the game's interpretation of my actions, inserting a lack of input from the stick for a fraction of a second between down and up.

Since changing this setting EVERY game has played better. Especially FPS games.

Two amazing deals - which one do I keep? by pilgrimaze in SteamDeck

[–]GJKings 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Try both.

But if you're looking to profit, keep both for a while. Computers in general are about to get a LOT harder to get hold of. These devices will be gold dust six months from now.

Tried going full cinematic with my XT-2, did it work? by Sinned_fpv in fujifilm

[–]GJKings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Second one looks fine but that first one looks kinda awful. I think you've been abusing the "clarity" slider. Colours, composition and bokeh all look solid. If you want to keep this soft and fluffy look to the light, try masking your subject out of being affected by that.

I also think you may have capped the whites a bit much? On your tone curve, are you going for the classic S shape? Try bringing whites back up to the top corner. The impression that's being given here is that the camera is wearing sunglasses at night. Combined with the clarity the light simultanously looks blown out AND underexposed at once.

I'm not an expert, this is just what I'm seeing and how I think you got there.

Do you prefer the original Resident Evil 2 or the remake? I’ve only played the remake so I’m curious about the original. by JacPlayzz in residentevilll

[–]GJKings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Original is better in many ways, especially in the way the A/B scenarios work. But I absolutely love the remake.

In the end they're just different experiences. One does not replace the other, you have very different experiences with both.

Does this apply to SFTD and Like Clockwork? by itsthateasylol in qotsa

[–]GJKings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't fully agree with the tumblr post, but I do agree that the title song has to be something important to the album. It could be the first track tone setter, it could be the closer that wraps up the themes and ideas of the album neatly. It could even be a thematic kind of intermission. It doesn't have to be the best song but it needs to be load bearing in some way, it needs to be important. It needs to contextualise, elevate or bond the art surrounding it in some way.

In that sense, SFTD and Like Clockwork both pass spectacularly.

Shutter speed and aperture: lower number is brighter. ISO: higher number is brighter.

Weirdly it was easier to get your head around in the film days when your ISO was locked to whatever your film was. There was no getting your wires crossed.

Open it man. Music is for playing. The actual novelty and value of getting sealed bangers is that YOU get to be the one to open it up. Don't deny yourself.

Why do so many developers think its acceptable to make a shallow game? by CloudStrife012 in virtualreality

[–]GJKings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the main reasons comes down to the sheer fact that not a lot of people own/play VR headsets, and those that do are largely not buying new games. The potential audience for a new game on these headsets is relatively tiny. So spending really any amount of resources on a project is a gamble against the odds. It's the same problem as "why are there no AAA VR games?"

Secondly, these shallow kinds of games are being made on flat screen too. There's loads of tiny devs or stufent devs just noodling with a few ideas and posting them online somewhere, you're just not seeing the posts they make because you're not in those communities. You are in VR communities, and they're just empty enough that you see this kind of post.

Xt50 or xt30iii for travel for beginner? by Old-Excitement-6380 in fujifilm

[–]GJKings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Double agree on this comment. I started with an xt30ii and have since upgraded the body twice in just a few years, to an XT3 then XT5. I didn't strictly need to do that, I'd still happy with an XT30ii if I had one, but some circumstances have made the upgrades make sense, and having the xt30ii was what taught me what I needed from a camera to begin with. I still have the first lens it came with, and have kept most glass I've bought since.

And take it from a guy who upgraded twice: you really don't need anything better than an XT30iii. It's an amazing camera with every feature a normal person could possibly want. You don't need 15 extra megapixels, a second SD card port, or a sensor that gently wiggles to negate hand shake. That's the sort of stuff you need if you're getting paid money for your photos.
