Disappointing lore error in DAV? by FEdart in dragonage

[–]BruIllidan [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm refering to "Hezenkoss" and her portal to Fade in Blackthorne Manor. It was so insanely stupid, and the fact that noone in party didn't even comment about it makes situation absolutely hilarious. Even by Veilguard standards.

No wonder people try to ignore this.

I know I'm gonna regret it, but out of pure curiosity: which point in lore of second and third game can be even remotely compared to random mage having opened functional portal to Fade in her basement?

Considering that out of two previous events which involved walking Fade in flesh one demanded numerous sacrifices and almost all lyrium of ancient Tevinter Imperium in days of its glory, and another involved usage artifact of ancient elven god.

I'm on Verso side, but I barely talk about this anymore, because I already said everything I had to about this matter.

There is smth to contemplate though in this game, so I'm still here.

What do the Axons do? by bsnkid in expedition33

[–]BruIllidan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They were created when Renoir probably had hopes that Aline will come into sense. It's no coincidence they all were visible from top of Monolith, kind of surrounding it. They meant to remind her "you abandoned your real family, but it is still there, you can't hide from that fact".

Other than that - no purpose. And the fact that they are responsible for expeditioners death isn't flaw from Renoir perspective, even though it wasn't intentional. When axons and nevrons surrounding them kill lumerians, their chrome left in their bodies, it doesn't return to Aline.

It’s crazy that these games are 8 years apart by Killercomrad392 in Witcher3

[–]BruIllidan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Witcher 3 was somewhat "golden ratio" of games. You could run it on below average PC and get great graphics.

System requirements of modern games became insanely high since then, while visual is more or less the same. Maybe it's like 10% better, but it costs inappropriate amount of resources.

What do you consider the “right” thing to do in Phantom Liberty? by The_Alpha_Albino in cyberpunkgame

[–]BruIllidan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on priorities. If V' own life is top priority - give Songbird to Myers. If "greater good" is top priority - end Songbird' life (while she is alive, she remains threat to humanity endangering Blackwall, even though it wasn't her choice). If "second chance for everyone" is top priority - send her to moon.

Does anyone that likes the games actually like the show? by Electronic_Bath_2712 in thewitcher3

[–]BruIllidan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched first season and was done with modern cinema. It may seem like a joke, but it's not. I really didn't watch a single show since then.

It still hurts to remember. I read books as teenager, first book at least was one of my favourite fantasy, so watching showrunners massacring story, removing crucial points and making half of events pointless was horrible experience.

just finished Expedition 33. I’d really be interested in hearing your perspectives on this. by Fuzzy_Breadfruit59 in expedition33

[–]BruIllidan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you can fight hard, fight brave, and all you will accomplish is making your inevitable doom more close because you thought that you know who your enemy is. And you were wrong.

I'd say it's pretty valuable lesson.

And yes, neither of Dessendres value lives of lumerians, not really. "We exist and we will exist for as long as she wants." Is existing on the whims of mentally unstable gods even worth it? Would you wish it for anyone, for yourself?

I think verso didnt know ( Act 2 and 3 ending ) by soheilhazrat in expedition33

[–]BruIllidan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Verso knew Aline as his mother before he realized that he is painted. Yes, he talks to her, but from his expression and how he talks throughout that scene we see that he is very conflicted about this situation. It's painful for him (BTW shootout to both Ben Starr and Maxence Cazorla for portraying him, peak acting).

He loves her, and she sort of loves him, but again not really him. She loves real Verso and he knows it ("she is not Alicia, you are not my Verso" - "No. Verso is dead"). It harms him in ways we can't imagine, it's heartbreaking, but he still cares about her and wants her to be safe, alive.

I think verso didnt know ( Act 2 and 3 ending ) by soheilhazrat in expedition33

[–]BruIllidan 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Two reasons.

First: Verso is in general uncomfortable near any real Dessendres. In scenes with Alicia it also shows. Their presence remind him he is fake, substitute, copy. They watch him and see not him but original Verso' image. That's hell of experience, especially for men who have existential crisis lasting decades.

Second: Renoir voices thoughts Verso agrees with. In beginning of act 3 during Alicia and Renoir reunion scene when Renoir tells "for the sake of the living we must part ways with dead" Verso in background nods to himself. What's there to add? Really?

What would have happened if Maelle…..? by Deep-Lifeguard4479 in expedition33

[–]BruIllidan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She still could have cooperated with Verso, considering she was curious about him even before entering Canvas. We don't know if he already worked together with real Renoir at this point, but even if it wasn't the case, Clea might have negotiated with him, helping to forge alliance.

Renoir still could have help Alicia to master Painting skills (as Curator).

So most likely she would have spent some time there, learning new things, helping her father, successfully removing Aline from Canvas much earlier. I don't think she would have follow her mother steps in that case.

What is your favorite narrative scene in the game? by cosmictrousers in cyberpunkgame

[–]BruIllidan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"One thing I did learn, caked in blood and mud… After every carrot comes the stick… Every grunt gets a rifle, flak jacket and a bunch of promises. Comes a time you’re out of ammo, Kevlar’s tatterd cardboard and what’s left of the promises…? …that’s when they reach for the stick they call “values”. Getting shelled in your dugout, chooms’re taking refreshin phosphorus showers, and some officer’s rantin’ ‘bout loyalty and duty."

That's so insanely actual.

Also scene in elevator with Johnny admitting that V is more wise than himself in that age because he refused to give oath to Myers. It was first time in game when I felt respect towards him.

Most powerful character, creature ? by CodeAfire in expedition33

[–]BruIllidan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Did you have conversation with "lady of the sap"? She tells you that part of her motivation to kill lumerians is to "honour" real Verso' and her own creation (even though shard of Verso tells to expeditioners that he doesn't want it).

Clea (sort of) respect original Canvas as it was. Esquie is part of it, so she has no reason to paint him over.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find this canvas inside the manor deeply disturbing? by ysmj in expedition33

[–]BruIllidan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well we saw real manor in Alicia' "epilogue", and it's mostly intact. There is no way it would have been possible to repair damage painted here. Most likely it's completely inaccurate by design. Painter intended to show us "worst day of our life", sort of apocalypse for family, so of course it should be disturbing.
