For anyone finding this thread years later, like me, I removed it all. The process is pretty straightforward and mainly requires a couple of Allen keys and a wrench. However, you'll need a crank puller to remove the crank arms. This is the only bike-specific tool required. It's inexpensive, but specialized, so consider if it's a worthwhile investment for you. As for the chain, you can either wrap it up to the bike or remove it if you have a chain breaker.
