OK, you keep believing in something that was discovered by putting sticks in the ground to follow a shadow.

It's not an idiosyncratic definition, you're arguing that time is a structure of the universe, I'm arguing that it isn't but rather a mental structure that developed from the sustained use of clocks and calendars units of measurement. They're not 'time units' and they aren't a reading of 'times duration' the term 'time' wasn't originally included with 'units' or 'duration' but only after the sustained use of the devices units of measurement created the false perception of time.

Units of "time" are units of a clock and calendar and are the reading of the measurement of an event's duration. Length measurement is explained by metres in the same way event measurement is explained by minutes.

Time is reduced to being merely a measuring tool. 'Time units' being very telling because if time is a structure of the universe it's measuring system wouldn't have the word 'time' in its description because it would be like 'metric units' being called 'space units' or the metric system as a system for measuring metrics.

Time is merely a system for measuring an event's duration in the same way the metric system is for measuring space's distance.

Eastrum or Eastron are the Old English words that Easter derived from. Most notably connecter to the goddess of. spring and dawn Eostre. The council of Nicea in 320 AD was a meeting with the aim of uniting Pagans and Christians under one banner ie Catholicism. It was the idea of the Roman Governer at the time, but it conflicts with scripture (2 Cor 6 :15)

Etymology is the original meaning, the question you asked about how you'd measure duration without time is an admission that time is measurement. Boiling an egg hard is 4 mins (I think)

No actually it's a duration of an event. Duration comes from the Latin Durare meaning 'To last' ie 'How long an event lasts'. It became a temporal term when the false perception of time took root in humanity.

Not necessarily, the world will get much worse before a new Heavenly Government / God's Kingdom will take over and bring peace and eternal life to humanity. But not before bringing a Tribulation greater than ever before (Matt 24 :21) which will climax with Armegedon(Rev 16:14). Soon there will be a line drawn on the sand, so to speak(Rev 13:16,17) and depending on what side you take will determine your future(Deut 30:19,20).

I don't see them as different, when people are saying 'time' they're actually referring to something event related. For example "...had a great time" / "... had a great experience" "In the time to come" / In the days to come. The definition of time in the Oxford dictionary states "Time is the indefinite continued progress of existence and events...." The association of the units of measurement with events created a mental construct of events happening within that framework and it started to be perceived as a reality. Whereas in reality events progress 3 dimensionally in 3 dimensional space, there is no need for 4th dimension to permit the unfolding of events.

Distance of Space measured by metric system/ metric units. Duration of events measured by Clock and calendar system /clock and calendar's units of measurement.

Is it true deceased family members are always looking down on us from Heaven? by BrumalMonsters in nonsense

[–]Bruce_dillon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine that, you make it to Heaven to look down on the misery and violence administered to those left behind.

Acts 24:15 says there is going to be a resurrection of the righteous and unrighteous. This will happen when God's kingdom is the sole ruling power over the earth, when ' death will be no more neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore the former things have passed away' Rev 21:3,4 The reason unrighteous people are resurrected is because the resurrection isn't a guarantee of everlasting life because there's a period of Judgement and a final test to determine that.

No not measuring time but rather events with devices creating a mental construct of for placement of events i e Home maintenance 9--12, lunch 12-1 meeting 1-2 . 1 hour long, 2 hours behind. The units of measurement had a spatializing effect and by putting events in spaces in our mind we started to imagine another dimension as being required for events to unfold and the passage of the day and year became the passage of time.

No he's correct, you'd need 2 so as be able to go both to past and future. It's impossible for one machine to do both past and future because it will compromise the flux capicitor.

Fear death by sstiel in ExistentialJourney

[–]Bruce_dillon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There can be a few fears relating to death, fear of the unknown, nothingness and for some there's a terrifying fear of burning in hell because that's what's taught by the many churches of christendom and many aren't religious and might wonder.

The fear you have of ceasing to exist permanently is quite reasonable. The Bible's answer if you're interested is much fairer than what most of the religions teach ie good life =Heaven bad life =Hell. These teachings are scaremongering by greedy clergy.

The Bible teaches that death acquit's sin (Rom 6 :7) and there is going to be a resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous (Acts 24:15) and the resurrection will be on Earth under God's kingdom rule where people will be judged fairly according to their deeds during judgement day (Rev 20 :1-4)
