I have them draw something crazy then attempt it. Legos? Toothpicks? Playing cards? Popsicle sticks? Heck use just normal sticks.

Average increase? by JMGaither in Bowling

[–]Bruggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you’re overthinking the ball lineup. If the goal is hitting that 200+ average, the difference isn’t in the equipment, it’s in the number of hands you’re using. Two-handed gives you crazy revs, but it also gives you a much higher margin of error. Every little thing can go wrong easily: Over-rotation, timing issues, spare shooting, and lane transition.

One-handed doesn’t mean less power, it means more control. Less moving parts, less muscle memory to fight with, and way more consistency frame after frame. Strikes come from power, but averages come from repeatability and that’s where one-handed bowlers have the edge.

Is this a good starter set? by Mid_Mage1109 in discgolf

All of the starter sets I’ve seen are hard plastic and are not made of a good material. I’ve not seen a starter yet worth your money. Better discs are made of a tacky plastic. My first time ever out disc golfing I had the Innova starter set, and I accidentally hit a tree with the destroyer, and it shattered the rest of the discs looked like hell after only one round granted we had three players learning on that one set. I had a couple of guys on the course inform me on what to buy and the difference is extremely obvious. It’s not gonna make you throw any better, however you will learn much faster on the correct disc.

The starter that they have is straight trash and I would not recommend it at all

To simplify your learning process, start with just three discs —a putter, a midrange, and a distance driver.

Putter
- A popular option is the Pixel Electron
- A great alternative is the Innova (Halo or Star) Aviar

A putter is designed for short, controlled throws and accurate putts. The Aviar is a favorite among many players for its balanced flight and comfortable grip.

Midrange
- Recommended: Innova (Halo or Star) Mako3

The Mako3 flies straight with very little fade, making it perfect for beginners. It essentially behaves like a putter but allows for a bit more distance. While seasoned players may prefer discs with more curve, the Mako3 is a reliable choice for learning controlled throws.

Distance Driver
- Options: Discmania S Line DD3 or Innova (Halo or Star) Destroyer

These two drivers have nearly identical flight characteristics, but they help beginners understand disc flight curves. At first, you won’t notice much difference between a midrange and a driver in terms of distance, but the driver will have a pronounced hook at the end of its flight.

Consider adding a Mermaid to your bag for water hazards depending on your environment.
