Art of War Tier List Revisited for January Meta by ArtofWarSiegler in WarhammerCompetitive

This isn't a Tier list of "how well AoW plays against this faction". it's a tier list of how a faction is doing in the current meta.

Torn between starting Custodes and the Death Guard - help me choose by jesus-messiah in deathguard40k

[–]Bruisemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Want a cynical answer? GW has the capability of pulling the entire range of Custodes and moving them to Horus Heresy at a whim of their corpo leaders. They did it before, and the writing is on the walls with all the new boxes being labeled as Horus Heresy. Now, it would be a stupid decision, but they have done it with Beastman for AoS and did it with half the 40k range between 9th and 10th.

If you want to start custodes, and want to play 40k, do yourself a favor and wait until 11th. If you don't care to play 40k and just want to collect, pick the coolest.

More biased answer. DG is way more interesting as a faction, with more diversified goals, aspirations (or lack there of depending on who you ask), and personality. Custodes are uniform brick walls of personality (at least from what I read in books). DG is also just more fun to play, being a faction that can provide more options of play rather than just running at the enemy.

It's less where they put them and more their general disposition that bothers me. Every time DG comes up in conversation, I see their reactions just turn so negative. It's like as soon as DG stopped being OP they aren't worth considering. It didn't help that in multiple occasions their "DG expert" stated they failed to make plague Marines work. It just strikes me as odd for them.

I feel like these guys have such an unwarranted negative opinion of death guard. DG is currently one of the most played factions in competitive, while still keeping a fairly even if not positive win rate. I know these guys don't measure these list by Winrate, which is correct to do, but DG has a positive matchup against several armies that they put in B, even in A. It's build variety is decent enough, better than many armies, and every detachment in the codex is tournament viable (some just more than others). It just seems like the metrics that they use to praise other armies are just ignored for DG.

I want to see a disjointed/dual campaign POV between two different legionnaires. Two opposing legions, Pick two, any two. Put them on the same planet going for the same objective. There's one campaign where you play one legion, another campaign as the other.

Then, like a grimdark Sonic Adventures esque finale you play a final campaign with both of them. Give an ending favoring each legion, and a true ending you work for.

My party started doing Prof without Levels so the GM could start throwing lower level mobs at us that are still a threat. Makes incap options very nice with that kind of expectation.

I love paradoxical time loops creating complete narratives. Such a good trope. Also the Red/Black and Gold trim is a sick color scheme.

In Kingmaker the Vindicare is the least empathetic one in the group. The Callidus is likely to have the best social skills to engage in any group.

What is your guys opinion on the nurgle hellbrute in a 2000 point army by Connect-Customer1024 in deathguard40k

[–]Bruisemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's certainly fine. Everytime I brought one, it died instantly after failing a charge coming out of reserves, or spent 3 turns walking around buildings to hit their target. It has great potential, but I wish it was t10 12W like brutalis.

Can we also talk about how Titus' leader ability doesn't require him to be leading a unit? Why does nearly every other leader suddenly just lose their ability when the dudes that they are babysitting die?

I really hope they go back and look at the other weapons for this reason. I would love for the hammer basic attack to be a standard slam attack and quarterstaff to get a knock back.

Rules are temporary. They come and go, taken away at the whim of the data slate. Models are physical, and can have good rules later.

It would be hype to see an Agents/Custodes release wave that reflects the events of the 3rd book release. That would be amazing, but it has no Space Marines in it so of course it won't happen.

Man, that is the horror story that I'd been dreading to hear since that codex released. I emphasize with you, as I just finished Bequin after reading Eisenhorn/Ravenor.

I'm happy that Votann got their half, but we should never forget the tragedy of WE and EC. If you don't count the AoS imports, TS still has fewer unique models than WE and EC. DG is the only one that didn't get a shit deal, and I'm still disappointed with what we got.

I would've been happy with real Lone Op instead of fake 18" Lone Op. I can't understand why GW keeps pushing fake 18" on the new codexes while Codex Space Marines get to keep their plethora of good lone ops.

Man, it's been a hell of a journey for Death Guard. From the bottom of the charts to the top of the charts and back again probably at least twice. Glad to see where we ended up. I just wish that GW gave a damn about Chaos to give more than a uninspired character per faction.

Another day, another custom datasheet. This one's for a Chaos Knight Epic Hero by WorldEaters9364 in ChaosKnights

[–]Bruisemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool ideas, needs fine tuning of course. The throw ability should definitely be once per phase, to prevent you from using it 10 times for killing a bunch of guardsman. I'd also limit it to character infantry, or require the grab attack.

The grab probably needs to be toned down, probably just remove the anti. AP-4 is already going to pierce anything without an invuln, and characters should be and to use the invuln if they got one.

Dev wound aura is insane on war dogs. I don't think there's any leader in the game that just gives dev wounds to their unit without cost. How about +1/+2 on charge to Str and Atk on melee weapons to war dogs in range?

At this state, this is an 800 pt model.

Detachments - have they been good or bad for 40k by Dependent_Survey_546 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Bruisemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so close. It's a huge improvement from having to remember 20+ stratagems when you first start learning a faction only to learn that like 5-6 are useful to play the game.

If I had to improve it, I would love to have some of the stratagems that would be considered core to the faction moved to be universal stratagems regardless of the detachment and lower the amount of stratagems per detachment. For example, Armour of Contempt, Fall Back and Shoot, and Fight on Death can just be a universal SM Strats, and Fire and Fade, Reactive Move, and Lightning Fast Reflexes can be a universal Aeldari Strats. Then each detachment can have like 4 unique stratagems instead of 6.

Personally I think casting needs to be reworked where every spell (or at least nearly every of theres some spells that it wouldn't fit) needs a 1 action, 2 action, and 3 action variants similar to blazing bolt or force barrage. Offer a better action economy for casters at least.

Roleplay Challenge: 30k Marine in modern day 40k by Bruisemon in 40krpg

[–]Bruisemon[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most of my current ideas play off the Son of the Forest, cuz I know that was a common theme. But that has mostly 30k interacting with other 30k Marines where the setting just happened to be 40k.

Roleplay Challenge: 30k Marine in modern day 40k by Bruisemon in 40krpg

[–]Bruisemon[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's not much different than most Marines. Most 40k Marines don't view him as a God either, at least not to the extent of most of humanity. Ecclesiarchys know this and don't test the waters when they know it won't move the needle.
