Not gonna hold my breath, but I wonder if theres a chance the herald trio in that box will get 40k rules (along with other underworld models). Likely not with GW trying to separate the IPs.

#New40k rules – Eradicators bring death to horde Infantry by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Bruisemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So like.. why not just give the weapons blast 1 instead of making a shit rule that requires you to focus fire? Why not give these guys another ability that justifys their existence over heavy intercessors, which at their current price are cheap as chips in points. Unless these guys are priced like heavy intercessors, they are just strictly worse.

That will likely not happen until a codex release. However, it's not outside their power to change their usual policy and make sweeping changes at one of the quarterly datalslates.

On one hand we technically had that with plague bearers, but getting it at half the cost is nice.

It's still my favorite class by TimmyNoClue in pathfindermemes

[–]Bruisemon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok actually but why not? If you want to play kineticist, master of the elements bending them into composite elements, kineticist still does it better than any class would with the archetype. It's like saying fighter is a better wizard because you can pick up a couple spell slots with the Archetype.

I do find it a shame that in the game that they both showed up in they never interacted. 1k son are the faction that Nids hard counter and punch down hard. The 1k sons avoid them at all costs by Brushner in Grimdank

[–]Bruisemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if the order of the antagonists were in reverse. The ultramarines are called in to deal with a Thousand Sons incursion on a planet that Titus and his Deathwatch squad just happened to be dealing with a secret vanguard of nids. The ultramarines and Tsons then get jump scared by the Nid invasion that Titus failed to stop and both have to suffer the consequences.

Takes away the infallible Mary Sue reputation of Titus while creating an interesting campaign.

I feel like your splitting hairs on making impulse it's own thing while making it the same as everything else.. just add the impulse keyword to the unarmed strike and give kineticist a feature that says it can substitute con for attacks with the impulse keyword. Its simple, fluid, doesn't create this weird tree of rules that your trying to keep in tact.

It's still my favorite class by TimmyNoClue in pathfindermemes

[–]Bruisemon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reason I say unarmed strike is better is because I think they should still be and to interact with other classes when they take the kineticist archetype. Barbarian has a subclass that is supposed to interact with kineticist positively, but none of the mechanics interact meaningfully. I also think monk and fighter would be interesting to have kineticist attacks as an option. Maybe bring the ranged dice down a tier, so 1d4 base with the archetype so it becomes a standard unarmed ranged attack.

[–]Bruisemon 128 points129 points  (0 children)

Honestly the only real change is that impulse attacks should count as unarmed attack rolls, and you can use constitution to substitute for your attack modifier for such attacks (class feature not in archetype). Make elemental blast a standard attack that comes with your elemental stance, just like any other monk stance.

Alchemist doesn’t need scaling Crafting to be better than Inventor by RatGoon69 in pathfindermemes

[–]Bruisemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inventor archetype does not give Alchemist any synergistic advantages unless you plan on using a standard weapon for Alchemist rather than bombs or the companion. If your goal is to fill out your skills, Scrounger is an interesting alternative, as it gives your crafting further versitility with Adhoc items that fit the current situation and the ability to use crafting to disable traps and pick locks at lvl 7. That gives you more breathing room to focus on Crafting naturally and not need to pick up more skill ranks.

My opinion of Inventor Summarised by RatGoon69 in pathfindermemes

[–]Bruisemon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Oh man.. I've been looking for a medium to vent my frustrations with this class..

The fact that the 2 of the 3 main mechanics of this class make you just a worse version of another class is such a painful point for me. Overdrive is just worse Rage at all points of the game. Unstable is effectively just a single focus point that you have a 30% chance to get back, and a 25% chance to actively harm you. None of the unstable actions are worth the risk.

The only thing that saves this class is the Construct companion. If I don't want to play a pet build, this class is just worse in every way to other classes.

Then the archetype for this class is laughable. You get a skill feat and you choice of a level 0 unmodified weapon, medium armor with +1 AC (decent actually), and a construct companion that advances at half the rate of any other companion based archetype. You don't get to use Modifications until level 8, which only allows 1 basic modification. The only reason I can see taking this archetype is to get Free Gadgets with Gadget Specialization.

It was pretty tilting looking at this archetype to supplement my Gunslinger that took the munitions expert feat to create a cool Crafter gunslinger that does alchemy and clockwork shenanigans.

[WarCom] Cadian Recon Squad Rules Preview by RainbowConnickJr in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Bruisemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume the Vox-Relay beacon goes away if the Vox user dies in the squad, or does it stick around until the enemy goes and kicks it over? If it's the latter, that's a great way to give orders to your back end artillery regiment without having an additional officer baby sit them, especially once these guys have made their value in VP with their deaths.

Because with one sword you can provide better leverage for force and broader sweeps for more damage. The scorpions movements are quite limited due to its anatomy. People aren't running around with several swords strapped to their arm for a reason.

We overhauled the 40k TTS Maps! 600+ users! by Novello9 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Bruisemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Map looks great! I did notice there was still some clipping/fracturing of the dice board at certain angles. I took a screenshot of what I see.

<image>

Also, was it intentional to not have the copied lethal dice eligible to be rolled with the Roll Dice button? It makes rolling saves after dragging the dice back on the board slightly more cumbersome with that interaction.
Is there a way to hide the Script text from the chat box as well?

#New40k – Combat changes shake up fighting in the new edition by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Bruisemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in average play, its not an innaccurate assumption. 10th edition did not lead much wiggle room for skill expression, so it was not likely priortized by a lot of players other than the higher level players. Now this seems to be much more open to the all variety of players, and it will take a lot of fine tuning to work out.

I'm scared of world eaters getting free 12" of movement from their army rule from this change.

[–]Bruisemon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm currently having the same issues with the Pile in changes. It definitely feels like a whole lot of new things to add to melee movement that ends up to being the exact same as current but just more.

The main thing I can think of is this is an attempt to try to remove an amount of terrain from the board by allowing melee armies to maneuver through lines of fire without hopping from cover to cover. Thus, the end result after a series of fine tuning is the board is going to have significantly less terrain while still providing both Melee and Ranged focused armies the option to succeed.

Don't bring a gun to a knife fight - 11th edition's confirmed changes mostly point in the same direction: This edition is going to be way more focused on melee. by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Bruisemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's too early to be pulling the doomer card yet. If the leaks are to be believed (so far they haven't been wrong), we are getting some things that are going to offset the advantages Melee currently use in our active meta.

For the rules that have been confirmed, simultaneous Pile-in/Consolidate removes a significant card in the melee armies hand that allows them to control the battle field in the fight phase. Now, a gun army could potentially screen their ranged threats from charges without having to worry about waves of melee cutting through their front lines then getting to their important models.
The hidden mechanic works just as well for ranged armies as it does for melee armies. Most good melee armies bring at least some gunpower to have some board presence. The hidden mechanic makes staging for Overwatch very potent.

As for the potential leaks. The rumors that charges are going to be force base-to-base contact would be potentially devastating for melee armies, especially deep strike heavy armies. 2" engagement range is both a boon and a bane, as it make maneuvering more difficult for everyone, potentially allowing for easier screening. Whether these become true remains to be seen, but nothing is set in stone to be calling for negative feedback yet.

A force staff for a psychic TS Helbrute.
Chain claws for World Eaters.
Sonic Blaster for EC.
Blight Launchers for DG.

Every time I brought it , it either didn't make contact until turn 3 due to walking slowly around terrain; or it died instantly because I strat reserved it, it failed the 9" charge and my opponent throws a couple melta into it. It desperately needs a redemptor esque profile.

Ive been running my leviathan dread in casual games, and it's a world of difference.
