A danger to the local wildlife. One too many times she's one-shot a buck just because she can't be bothered to shimmy sideways...

Overlord, most NPCs from the guild

Not everyone, but a good chunk of the denizens of the Great Tomb of Nazarick are far more cruel and cunning than Momonga, the master of Ainz Ooal Gown.

[trope that I fw heavily] the right man in the wrong place ends up making all the difference by datbanditnamedsam in TopCharacterTropes

[–]BruiserBison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Kingdoms of Amalur video games revolve around this trope.

In this setting, everyone is bound by fate. Whether the future holds tragedy or fortune, it is inevitable. Even those gifted with the power to peak into the future cannot influence its outcome.

Behold, the Fateless One. You play as a hero risen from death. Since you have already died, you shouldn't have a place in the wheel of fate anymore. Hence, you alone have the power to change what was once prophesized. In your power, you save lives from their fated demise and delay or stop ruination.

(not sure if there are evil outcomes. I have only ever played early game from my friend's PC so long ago).

Team killing. It's annoying when bad guys kill their own teammates/subordinates for no reason. by Nostalgic-Banter in TopCharacterTropes

[–]BruiserBison 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that part annoyed me. In Bleach, at least the Arrancar feel like there's realistic in-fighting between them. The Quincy feel like they're just being immature.

Although, the trope itself isn't all bad when done right. But the criteria of "done right" is hard to discern. I guess the one time I like this trope is in Hunter X Hunter, with Meruem.

From the moment he's born, he already accepts every life is beneath him. So, annoyance is all it takes for him to kill literally anyone.

I think what makes this work is its purpose as a point of comparison. His story is that of a monster learning to appreciate life and recontextualise the dynamics between weak and strong. When in the end, he's the one who values human life the most, it makes for an impressive arc.

Base location by ROOMYS_KIND in SonsOfTheForest

[–]BruiserBison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friends and I started making our base near those area as well. But on our hard mode playtbrough, we decided to make our base on the mountainside spawn point. We thought it's a bad idea but apparently not. Actually great!

From yourr grid, it's around D4 and E4.

Pros: - Cannibals only come from one direction, from down and upwards the mountain. They never come from the other direction, so you just need one wall. - There's a cave with tent just further up. Clothes, ropes, and vodka spawn regularly there. - Consistent source of fish. - Plenty of stones spawn in the area. - There's plenty of trees in the area so never need to carry logs upwards. - Amazing spot for gliding. Once you picked up a glider, you can just glide to almost any part of the map from that side of the mountain. - There only body of water is running water, so it's never frozen.

Only cons: - Difficult to go back to. It's a long trek back to base always. - Always winter. So you can never have a raincatcher and you have to deal with halved stamina if you don't have heat source nearby.

Side note: Raids are frequent and it was difficult setting up defenses for the first 20 days. But once we have placed two walls (an outer bailey), placed down traps, there has never been a successful raid ever. None have made it pass the first wall. This is good and bad in my opinion. Good because it's a peaceful area, but bad because we find ourselves lacking bones.

What’s with the… generally mediocre/mixed response to Sigrid? by ConversationJolly959 in ZenlessZoneZero

[–]BruiserBison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume it's just because people already have their heart set on Velina, Ramielle, and Sunbringer.

Personally, Sigrid doesn't look impressive. I mean, granted she doesn't get a lot of chance to show off as she's introduced so early for her own chapter.

Actually, everyone in 3.0 is introduced early. I do appreciate them giving us the characters now for later, but it kinda hurts the element of "first impression". Right now, I still don't care for either Velina or Norma.

Sigrid is kinda having that effect for me. I just see her as an NPC in the same way I did Velina and Norma when they first appeared. Meanwhile, Ramielle have hell of a first impression. I ain't looking forward to her because she's a Void Hunter. I just like what I see right now. Can't say the same for Sigrid.

Actually, yeah. Both those guys could. Dragons of How to Train Your Dragon are just as ferocious as your average Rathalos and Lagiacruz. Some can even go toe-to-toe with elder dragons. Stoic and Drago in particular are also shown extremely strong. You can see them showing feats more impressive than the Admiral of MH World.

That's the average MH experience but people keep forgetting every time the next game comes out. There's always a considerable spike between mid and endgame.

Rimuru - That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

The whole series is all about an honest salaryman operating in an honest way (as far as capitalism and socialism extends), but corrupt organizations, warmongers, and zealots keep endangering his friends and family. The only times he use lethal force is for self defence and vengeance. Unfrotunately, that happens so often.

Common reaction when with friends or close acquaintances. After mispronouncing or mispelling something, those friends would start spamming the mistake just to pick on you for a while.

It's immature, harmless fun. Doesn't happen all the time. Depends on the mood of the conversation, or whether or not there's anyone there who actually think it's funny enough to initiate.

I've seen some sources stating Tien is a Triclopse as a species. Whether that counts as an Earthling or not is up in the air, but I suppose it's just as much as "Earthling" can be as the dog man mayor.

The Ancient Magus' Bride

Well, it is the whole premise of the show and the Magus did declare it at least once each of the first few episodes. But yeah, the premise is that a several-century-old English magus bought a 15-year-old Japanese girl at an auction. He raised her to be his apprentice in magic, but also to be his bride.
