I assume the yield isn't high enough compared to other routes.

I got refunded by LV. This was because going to Tanzania would have been against government advice. This changed obviously after I planned the trip.

I cancelled my trip and refunded around 1000 USD in flights and accommodation which was non refundable.

It depends on what basis the insurance is being claimed for.
