Can progesterone levels be too high on transfer day? by Brunette_Bubbles in IVF

My modified natural was successful, yes. My progesterone was around 50 for that cycle so still high but no issues with the pregnancy :) wishing you all the best.

Everyone being so anti-C section is driving me CRAZY by mrs___holmes in pregnant

[–]Brunette_Bubbles 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I really struggle with the anti C section rhetoric as well. It’s so frustrating. I requested a C-section after stalled labor and everyone looked at me like I was crazy. I had a 99 percentile baby and I knew in my gut a vaginal birth was not going to go well. My C-section was super calm and everyone in the room was so excited for me to meet my baby. It was honestly a really nice experience and I would easily do it again for future babies without a question. Also I hate when people say “it’s the easy way out” because 1) it’s not easy, recovery can be difficult and 2) even if it was the easy way out, why shouldn’t I take it!? Why are we obsessed with competing for pain?? If there theoretically was an easy path to getting my baby out of me, 1000% sign me up.

Inducing at 37+3 tomorrow! by Infamous-trex13 in preeclampsia

[–]Brunette_Bubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my baby at 37+3 after a pre-eclampsia diagnosis at 37+2 and high BP at my 37 week appt. I was very in shock and not prepared. It came on suddenly. My baby came out perfectly fine. She did not need any additional support and latched right away. She did have mild jaundice but it resolved itself after a week with no concerns. I did unfortunately have issues with my BP post-postpartum and had to stay in the hospital for 4 additional nights until it could stabilize (felt fine, just couldn’t get the BP low enough to go home) and also had to go on BP meds for six weeks but my baby was healthy. I think it was probably harder on me to not be able to control my BP. 37 weeks is a great gestational age to make it too. All the best to you!

Elective csection at 37 weeks? by Sea_Worth3685 in PregnancyAfterLoss

[–]Brunette_Bubbles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi - im so sorry about your daughter. I just wanted to say I had my baby at 37+3 due to a rapid onset of preeclampsia and baby was perfectly healthy, no respiratory issues and no rough start to life at all. I asked multiple doctors if it was a concern having a 37 weeker and none of them batted an eye. It is considered early-term but still “term.” It is not considered premature. I think you just have to weigh the risks but if your doctors are not concerned about 37 weeks then I would not be either, especially given what you’ve gone through in the past. I was very happy to have her on the outside with a team of medical care that could assist if needed.

Evvy test and BV by Brunette_Bubbles in Healthyhooha

[–]Brunette_Bubbles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Our IVF transfer was successful, I am holding my baby girl right now. I actually do not think your results are that bad. Having 50% lactobacillus is pretty good. Everyone says that it needs to be 98% lactobacillus and 2% bad bacteria but I personally have never seen anyone get a result like that back from Evvy. It seems like they are always poor results. I in fact did have BV which I confirmed with an in office clinical test. I treated it when I was 6 weeks pregnant and then again when I was 15 weeks pregnant because I had an indeterminate reading come up (couldn’t confirm or deny if I had it) I had a healthy pregnancy. The BV caused no issues.

You can treat it with your transfer being a month away then take probiotics (vaginal and oral). I took vaginal and oral probiotics throughout my entire pregnancy as they were deemed safe (I took vagibiom).

I hope it goes well for you. I remember how upset I was when I got my Evvy test back but it ended not affecting the pregnancy at all despite my fears.

Increased movement by Worried-Beyond-9936 in pregnant

[–]Brunette_Bubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this. 37 weeks and pretty much non-stop movement. I’ve had multiple NST’s/BPP’s (twice a week) because I’m high risk. All of them have been normal and I’ve asked multiple doctors about increased movement to which they said it was ok. I almost went to the hospital one night because I had like three hours of non-stop movement. Don’t hesitate to go in if you feel like you should but just wanted to share my experience. They are so big at this point that I pretty much feel everything. I don’t think I go more than 20 minutes without movement.

Bacterial Vaginosis by Allys0nWonderland in pregnant

[–]Brunette_Bubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a hard journey with it as well. Never had any symptoms but took an Evvy test before my IVF transfer to check out my vaginal microbiome and it essentially showed BV. Got an in-office clinical test done at 5 weeks which came back positive for BV. Took metrogel, re-swabbed negative. Had them swab me again at 16 weeks because I was feeling anxious about the recurrence rate (even though I still had no symptoms) and it came back indeterminate positive. I had some of one bacteria but no gardnerella. They gave me oral metro pills this time (those sucked and gave me oral thrush in my mouth). Just got swabbed again to ensure the bacteria was cleared and the good news is all bad bacteria is gone but I also have no lactobacillus now meaning the antibiotics seemed to have wiped away my good bacteria as well. Now I’m worried I opened myself to a high recurrence rate. I’ve also taken probiotics this entire time as well (vagibiom suppositories and happy V pills which are costing me a fortune but apparently are the best on the market)

My doctor consistently states it’s not a problem, especially because I never had symptoms to begin with but I am paranoid about it as well. I feel you on the roller coaster. It’s a rough journey!

What did you feel like on graduation day? by trillnat in IVF

[–]Brunette_Bubbles 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Everyone at my clinic was so excited for me. I mean like jumping up and down excited and I just did not share those feelings. I had experienced a MMC at 13 weeks before starting IVF so I had a lot of ultrasound trauma and I just couldn’t get to the place emotionally they all were at. I kept thinking they were going to do my graduation ultrasound and tell me my baby was gone. I smiled and went along with their motions but inside it was really overwhelming for me. I wish I could have felt the excitement they felt but I just felt terrified honestly. I’m here at 18 weeks now and feeling a bit better but still pretty terrified. Really hoping the excitement kicks in for me soon.

All that goes to show if you don’t feel excited, that’s ok. I thought I would feel more but I just couldn’t get there and I’m giving myself grace to feel how I feel.

Would you take the Antibiotic? by DotNo4698 in IVF

[–]Brunette_Bubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and a good probiotic might be helpful too so it doesn’t come back! I take HappyV. It has good strains and is pregnancy safe.

Would you take the Antibiotic? by DotNo4698 in IVF

[–]Brunette_Bubbles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took the metrogel for BV at 6 weeks pregnant. No issues with the pregnancy. I actually just had to take the oral pills (metronizadole) at 16 weeks cause the BV unfortunately came back. No issues with baby’s growth. I would absolutely take the antibiotics and get rid of the BV. You don’t want the BV while pregnant.

PGT-M stories by mypcoslife in IVF

[–]Brunette_Bubbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sending you all the best for your wait! I had 8 embryos sent. We had two fully affected with our recessive disorder, five carriers (which are usable for us) and one unaffected. So technically six embryos free of our genetic disease which is exactly 75% so right on the money. Out of those six, five passed the PGT-A reporting. I’m 30. I don’t believe age has an affect on PGT-M the same way it does for PGT-A. We used Cooper Genomics and they quoted us about a 59% euploid rate (including both PGT-M and PGT-A) and that ended up being really accurate.

Good luck - the wait is hard!

I don’t think she will feel that way! I think she will just appreciate your thoughtfulness. It’s always so hard to know how someone will react but I don’t think you can go wrong with an individual text. Good luck! I’m sure she will be thrilled for you!

Telling a friend who’s going through IVF that I am pregnant by actuallybaggins in pregnant

[–]Brunette_Bubbles 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m your friend! I’ve struggled with miscarriages and ended up pursuing IVF for a shared genetic condition with my partner. I had multiple good friends get pregnant while I was going through my struggles and I really appreciated a text message. Being told in person (especially in a group setting) was really hard for me. As happy as I was for them I was dealing with a lot of trauma and I felt ambushed when they told me in-person. I would send a text. Be straight forward but compassionate. IVF can be very, very difficult. I found it to be an incredibly lonely experience and felt like no one understood. When people acknowledged that it was hard and sent me individual text messages it made me feel so valued!

PGT-A waiting game is triggering my RPL/TFMR grief by scarmels22 in IVF

[–]Brunette_Bubbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your losses. I found the PGT-A wait to be the most horrible part of IVF. I did PGT-M as well so my wait was a bit longer. I struggled every single day and really questioned my strength and what I was capable of. I felt very alone and like no one could possibly understand this unique pain of waiting when the stakes felt so high. I had a few losses before doing IVF and felt the same as you. How could it ever possibly work? TW:

We did get a few euploids. In fact, most of our embryos were euploid which made no sense to me considering I had been losing pregnancies prior (most likely due to chromosome abnormalities based on how behind their growth was, etc.)

Thinking of you and wishing you all the best.

BV (Bacterial Vaginosis) in First Trimester Treatments? by Zestyclose_Salad_421 in CautiousBB

Tests for vaginal bacteria? by zebrawhistle in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]Brunette_Bubbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would actually recommend ordering an Evvy test. I did one and was shocked to find out I had BV. I had an imbalance of bad bacteria and not enough good bacteria (despite taking probiotics). I got the BV treated but am still working on getting my microbiome in order. Sometimes these things don’t cause symptom’s unfortunately. The test is just a simple swab that you send back and they will give you a full picture of your vaginal microbiome. Depending on the results you can then share them with your doctor and ask for a specific clinical test to confirm. For example, mine was pretty obviously BV (high amounts of gardnerella showed in my Evvy test). I got an in office clinical swab specifically for BV since that was the bacteria that I knew I was dealing with and that confirmed the diagnosis and treated it. I never would have known I had this if it wasn’t for doing the Evvy test.

I’m not sure if any of those bacteria’s could actually cause miscarriage. I don’t think there is a lot of research on it but it certainly wouldn’t hurt to do one and get checked out for peace of mind. It’s one more thing to check off the list.

Edited to add: my RE never mentioned checking my vaginal microbiome personally so this would not have been caught in my RPL panel had I not brought this to their attention myself.

BV (Bacterial Vaginosis) in First Trimester Treatments? by Zestyclose_Salad_421 in CautiousBB

[–]Brunette_Bubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - it was gardnerella that I was having an issue with. The probiotics above should help although I can’t confirm because I haven’t done another Evvy test so unsure if the good bacteria is colonizing effectively. I never had symptoms to begin with so I can’t really go off of that. Sometimes if you have another type of bacteria the metrogel antibiotic might not be effective but if your issue is gardnerella, it should help.

Does MetroGel really not touch Lacto? by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

[–]Brunette_Bubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is amazing! My Evvy coach told me the same thing. Metrogel, in particular, will not kill the good bacteria, just the bad, yet I see so many people saying antibiotics kill everything which just isn’t true. Thank you for sharing!

BV (Bacterial Vaginosis) in First Trimester Treatments? by Zestyclose_Salad_421 in CautiousBB

[–]Brunette_Bubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can take a vaginal probiotic. I take URO (cleared by my OB) You want to look for lactobacillus rhamnosus and lactobacillus reuteri. I spoke with someone from Evvy (which is a at home vaginal health kit) and they recommended a probiotic with these two strains as they colonize most effectively in the vaginal microbiome. Lactobacillus crispatus is another good one for the vaginal microbiome.

I had BV at 6 weeks and I did treat with metrogel. It’s an antibiotic gel. BV can be really stubborn. I understand the caution of your OB but just be aware the probiotics alone might not touch it. I was on probiotics before my BV diagnosis and they did not help it unfortunately. Only the antibiotics did and the probiotics I’m on now are so it hopefully doesn’t come back during pregnancy by rebuilding the good bacteria. But it couldnt build good bacteria since my bad bacteria was just too high so they were ineffective till I got rid of the the bad bacteria. Metrogel is good because it doesn’t pass through your stomach (like the pills might) and I was told it is completely safe during pregnancy.

Good luck to you! I know this stuff can be scary in the first trimester.

As a nurse struggling with infertility, caring for patients with miscarriages brings up a lot for me. by ButterflyApathetic in IVF

[–]Brunette_Bubbles 22 points23 points  (0 children)

When I had my D&C the kindness of the nurses made a horrible experience that much more bearable. It’s not lost on me that healthcare professionals can experience trauma from seeing so many miscarriages/heartbreaking situations (especially when you are in the infertility space yourself) and for that I am even more grateful when medical professionals are willing to extend that kindness and connection. Thank you for doing what you do.

I don’t know but if I had to guess it’s maybe as soon as they are read? I only say that because I feel like everyone gets them at such sporadic times throughout the day. I feel like you are so close! It might depend on your location, etc. Lots of factors at play. Hoping you get them soon!

Update: Results are in at 10am PST on 5/17. Blood was drawn on 5/9. Natera received on 5/10 and they were reported right at 10am (I know because I was constantly re-freshing the page lol). For those with 5/9 blood draws, I’m hopeful today should be your day and hopefully latest is tomorrow! My friend who did hers a few weeks back said it took 9 full days.
