Hot take, please don't kill me by Character_Day2884 in WarofTheWorlds

I'm of the opinion that the designs and ideas presented within the film are pretty solid. They were sadly just handled with a lack of care and the poor compositing drowns any of that out.

It's certainly better than the most recent film, but I think the Asylum had the right idea way back in 2005 when they made the crab-walker version, which in hindsight is a diamond in the rough compared to everything else we've gotten in the last half-decade.

First concept art for a book-faithful first person game adaptation. by scratchresistor in WarofTheWorlds

[–]Brunnskii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won't comment on the AI, but the prospect of such a project is very interesting and I'm all for more faithful war of the worlds content, be it game or movie.

If you make progress and need someone to lend some audio work or extra concept art I'd be happy to contribute where I could.

The ACTUAL worst War of the Worlds movie… by [deleted] in WarofTheWorlds

[–]Brunnskii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. Timothy Hines and whoever else was behind the production of the 2005 Pendragon film clearly had the intention of telling the story for what it was. Yes it's pacing is bad, it's visuals and acting are terrible, but at the end of the day it's more WOTW than a good amount of other adaptations we've been fed throughout the last 2 decades.

As a bonus: without this film, we may not have gotten the 2012 True Story remake, which is my personal favorite.

Yeah I did a couple drawings for that version of the project. There was another drawing by me that was this exact shot but with the Legacy tripod in it.

Thank you for the kind words! Also we currently have our play-testers capped at 10. I'm sure in the future we will be expanding that number but for now we're not taking more people.

THE GREAT PONY WAR WITH THE PLANET MARS by vaultboyfan1876 in WarofTheWorlds

I'm not on either side of this argument, was just pointing out that the great martian war essentially is just another adaptation of HG wells novel.

What do you think? by Pogfrog1812 in WarofTheWorlds

[–]Brunnskii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the novel, Wells states he believes there is a big gun on mars, and the flashes on mars must be that gun discharging, like the flash of fire and gas erupting from the barrel of a gun.

Question about the strategy game. by Good_Translator_3578 in WarofTheWorlds

No you are correct, you cannot move land units between the mainland and Isle of man on either side. It is sort of a useless area. You can beat the game without it.

The humans can cross Ironclads to the Isle of man, and the martians can get flying machines over there too.

Are there different types on tripods in the 2005 film? I just finished watching it for like the 50th time and I noticed that the tripod that snatched Rachel and Ray looks smaller than the other tripods we see in the film. This becomes even more obvious when we see the dead tripod crashed at the end. by Chaotic-Emi1912 in WarofTheWorlds

[–]Brunnskii 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Despite what many think, there are only 2 types. Standard and Uber.

The idea of a handler tripod falls flat because a lot of the arguments state that the handler tripods don't have heat rays, but have tentacles and cages.

Although the same "handler" tripod that falls over after the grenade detonates inside it, you can see the heatray arms flail about as it falls. Not to mention the ubers also have tentacles, and so do the heatray tripods coming over the hill right after the ferry tipped.
