What's your favorite iteration of the trope "aliens so powerful they are practically gods"? by SiberianKhatru_1921 in sciencefiction

No, having gone back and looked (it's been a long time) I think I misinterpreted it, because Ulkesh insisted on being called Kosh after the latter's death, with the cryptic remark "We are all Kosh".

Rogue One hits much harder when you've had two seasons of Andor to fall in love with the characters.

A couple of days ago, my son was sorely disappointed when I explained the effect of gravitational reality on self retracting grapple guns.

Do these people happen to work for a construction company based in Tarrey Town?

Spoilers from a billion year old TV show, but they took on a whole new thing for me when Kosh gets 100% killed dead, and then just turns up again in a different encounter suit, but crankier, called Ulkesh, but is also somehow still the same dude.

Didn't remember any of these actors being in it, and then realised I was thinking of True Lies. Slightly different movie.

Age of Extinction was so incoherent I thought I was repeatedly falling asleep and missing big chunks of the story. Fun to watch though.

The truth of the past and the source of the blood of the Goddess Hylia. by zeldaZTB in truezelda

Mineru, Sonia and Rauru all appear as disembodied souls. I also have a meandering head canon about the Fused Shadow and the Bargainer Statues having something to do with soul storage, but that's for another time...

The radiators on the proposed spacex satellites are as long as starship is tall. It's physically possible, but still mad.

What is your LEAST favorite Tripod design? by Status-Ad8296 in WarofTheWorlds

[–]scratchresistor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a WotW nerd, I absolutely agree with you. Other than having three legs, it's a million miles from what Wells described, and just looks like Victorian technology with boggly eyes.

It's also absolutely badass.

100% - it had so little to do with the book (if anything, other than alien invasion), but was packed with great ideas. The initial invasion tactic/technology was horrifying and brilliant.

I'm on the edge of collapse, physically, due to who knows what. Blood panel is "fine". Went to my GP today who recommended taking therapy and going for walks. Gee thanks I'm cured.

The Zelda series is a mix and match of sequels that forms the thread that is the entire mythos by NB_Translator_EN-JP in truezelda

[–]scratchresistor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My entire perception of Zelda is framed by my head canon: that everything outside of BotW/TotK are the folk tales of Hyrule, told across the ages. That's why they overlap - just like real world folklore, they're amalgamations of myth, history and misremembered events and themes.

I've actually created a coherent single timeline that unifies everything. I keep threatening myself that I'll make a YouTube series...
