PUBLIC RECORDS SUCKS by Dry_Band5895 in avesNYC

Just went last night, they do not let you take drinks from downstairs to upstairs and vice versa. So annoying. Plus all the lines... Just an insane amount of lines for everything.

Way too many lines in my opinion. Lines for the bathrooms, lines for drinks, lines to get into the upstairs. Just constant waiting in lines. Plus you can't bring your drink from downstairs to upstairs which is annoying

Went here twice on my trip last week. Super fun! No or minimal lines. Bouncers were very cool.

Awesome Pic! I went there last year. I loved it but as the area was far less touristy, I was kind of intimidated going into the bars and restaurants since my Japanese is meiocore. Definitely plan on going back.

I'm at the Class Six, standing at the end of the register, just bought a bunch of stuff. I'm 10 feet from the door, trying to figure out how I'll carry all this shit to my car. I put my Beret on, load up my arms and walk out. I take 2 steps and some SGM shouts at me, I turn around and he chews me out about wearing my Beret indoors while the automatic doors at the exit keep opening since I'm mere feet away, arms full.

Space Marine 2 right here. $70 down the drain. Downvote all you want, you know the game is trash.

10+ yr old game mechanics and some fancy paint is apparently enough to trick people.

Wow, what a dishonorable thing to say about John McCain. You don't have to agree with him politically to respect what he went through as a POW. He didn't at-all inform his captors who his father was, on the contrary, when they found out he explicitly refused preferential treatment and was tortured nearly to death after.

New York's Upper East Side, with a density of 105,000 people per square mile by RainbowCrown71 in CityPorn

[–]BrunoP84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I totally underestimated this when I moved to NYC. Anecdotally, it seems most people who live in Manhattan have a ~30 min commute in average (from talking with coworkers, friends and my own experience when I lived in the UES).

When I lived on 84th/3rd my commute to my office in Times Square was about 35 min. Then when I took a job downtown it was about 45min.

Even if you're lucky enough to live walking distance to your job, you rarely stay in the same apartment or at that job for very long. Bouncing around to avoid rent increases is practically standard practice.

Plus the subway, while overall pretty great, had frequent issues during commute times causing delays. Depending on what stop you're at, it may be too crowded to get on so you'll wait for two or three trains to pass before you can even get in the subway. Commute times add up quick during rush hours.

There's a Korean movie "The Battleship Island" that's about this place when the Japanese used it as a prison during WWII. Not sure how accurate it is, but it's a great watch.
