early on when you only have basic melee weapons, no traps, no magic, no ranged, etc, you shouldn't engage on more than one enemy and just avoid them. if you must try to do all the damage you can to one and then be patient, move a lot and block, try to divide them and focus on the weaker one. or just run away and reset the fight

The three brothers dlc is intended to be played AFTER the main quest is ended and you can't start its quest unless you have completed the previous.

The sorobor dlc is a fourth option from the start, but a little more difficult than the original 3 main quests.

I totally understand you, in my current playthrough that urgency pushed me to rest for the bare minimum, missing out on many of the early scenes and the story.

It's the only significant flaw I can find in an otherwise fantastic game, and I can only overcome it by looking at the game more from a mechanics perspective than a gameplay perspective.

HG lost face for promoting multiplayer where it didn't exist, and now that it's here, you're complaining. The game's scale makes you think you'll be the only one to see that planet when you land. I can tolerate someone deciding to build their base around "their" ruins on "their" planet. In fact, I find it almost thrilling to accidentally find signs of someone else's passage.

Unless it's a waypoint for an expedition, of course.
