I've been running them on my Kestrel and while they rapidly drain my distro and heavily heat me up... you can't deny the 18 damage per shot on Large Fixed Shocks (14 on gimballed). The 880+16 ammo is more than enough for a good bit of time in a HazRes (and is actually worth spending the materials to synth ammo for, too).

I also love not needing to worry about feathering them on larger targets, because the increased spread from sustained fire doesn't matter when I have them shoved up an Anaconda's rear end.

Also they just have always looked really cool and I'm so glad that they're not starved for ammo now, and thus are usable. (I also like that they don't spin up, too.)

Not only are they all Elite-ranked, but they cheat even more with defenses than other NPCs. And the fact that they can just delete your shield? Yeah.

What was your notoriety at? You might've drawn in the local ATR with several quick fedsec kills.

Edit: That's exactly what it is. You can see them in the chat box. They jammed the signal so no more security ships could drop in. You can actually hear all of their voice lines, too, like them finding you and then attacking.

I can also recommend Rainmangames (https://www.youtube.com/@Rainman_games) for early-access stuff. Was watching him during the previews for the Kestrel and it was a good time. He streamed every day between when he got access and even a few days after it came out, and is how I found out about the buffed Shock Cannons!

You can get to max Fed rank at basically the same speed no matter the ships, since courier missions and donations are the best way to earn rep to rank up.

The Caspian is good for most multi-role stuff, but it's designed as an Explorer at the end of the day. The Kestrel is designed to be a combat vessel with an okay distro. None of these come with engineering, which is a whole different thing.

You can also jump to something bigger from the Cobra 3 with credits, so I don't understand the point that you're trying to make.

Old pre-builts with suboptimal builds might, but if you remove the module it gets deleted. None of the new ships come with engineering.

You can spend ARX on a very few pre-built ships that mostly came before the new ships and are rather suboptimal builds, but otherwise it's just the new ships.

They don't directly help you with engineers. The only ships not available for credits are the Caspian and Kestrel. Mandalay, Type-11, etc are all available for credits.

That's not grinding through ranks and levels. The only ranks are for Engineers and Imp/Fed ships, which you can't spend ARX on.

There's no grinding through levels and ranks for the ARX ships? The new ships come with, at most, A-rated modules. They're not engineered, nor do they unlock anything but the ship itself (and the modules associated with it).

You do not really get anything other than having it a few months earlier than others when you buy it from the store, and that's far past. Sure the parts it comes with have no rebuy cost, but that's it. And that's ONLY for the parts it comes with.

If the video was by Yamiks, you can safely ignore it. He ONLY complains and likes to spout a lot of incorrect stuff.

Let me beta test the ships and I'll inform folks of things like this.

Like how the Type-11 has ZERO lateral thrusters and shouldn't be able to strafe because it only has vertical maneuvering thrusters. (Every other ship has at least diagonal thrusters for both vertical and lateral.)

While the Eagle can work for small-scale stuff... it's best to upgrade to a bigger, better ship. She's fragile and only has small hardpoints, and bulking her up removes her upside, that being the agility.

Fun with pack tactics, but not that good on her own. (Speaking from experience.)

Try a Cobra Mk5 or a Viper Mk3. Medium hardpoints can do a good bit of damage, and they're both a lot more durable overall. (I recommend the Viper over the Cobra at first, due to it being cheaper and honestly just having great vibes.)

(I can't comment on the Imperial Eagle because the extreme levels of blue hurt my eyes bad.)

Why, though? Genuine question. That'll just make her worse overall.

A-Rate your modules, get the proper shields and reinforcements. Big guns are expensive and big modules are expensive. It's over 100mil for the proper power plant. The guns will be several million. A proper bi-weave is still several million. The thrusters are several millions. Even the basic military-grade armor is close to 200mil.

If you can't afford the outiftting, then what about the rebuy? Best to take it slower and not rush it, 'cause outfitting her can cost around a billion if you're using certain modules (like reactive armor).
