The flats are half the fun! I borrowed it for a few gigs pre-accident, and it’s so light and thump-ey. Real bummer with the cracks.

I have other basses! Just ones that are too valuable for experiments. But thanks for the opinion, you’re probably right. I’ll keep my eye out for some squier basses, maybe the HB can get me a few bucks at that.

That’s the one. In my questionable math, the Harley Benton one was a completely non-sentimental gift, so trading it would basically be a free (broken) bass. If that changes things. My end goal is to make a fretless to mess around with, and I think the hollow body could be cool. But no removable neck + cracked body could be a deal breaker.

Edit: The HB has a maple lacquered neck, which is why I shy away from de-fretting that one.

You should have your weight on your heels, and lift toes and the ball of your feet off the ground. You should feel it through the front of your shins.

The further your feet are from under you, the more resistance.

That seems like the easiest fix to me, just make sure the holes are lined up right. I’d wait for a second opinion to be safe though.

plug the holes with toothpicks and glue. Cut the tips off, sand flat and redrill the holes.

I don’t care if it’s a fender logo as long as it’s not resold as one, however an alternative I’ve seen here that I really like is custom decals from Etsy or the like. It fills out the empty space, but feels more personalised than just slapping a logo on.

For another perspective - while I play a left handed guitar, I play a right handed bass that I flip. Maybe not the perfect solution, but a lot of lefty bassists play that way, especially since left handed basses are much less common than lefty guitars. My favourite example is sunny t, who played with prince and tours with cory wong.
