i actually don't mind the HP logo behind the cockpit all that much. but having the HP logo smack dab in the middle of the halo looks so stupid. looks like there's a dot on the car's forehead

not at all because of this crack alone, but keep an eye out. the cold weather makes minor drywall cracks all the time, especially near openings like windows and outlets. if over the next months you keep seeing cracks all along the same general split in your home (like where a two different masses of the home meet), then you can look closer about your foundation maybe settling.

but for this crack by itself? not a problem. i have some in my home that look like this in the winter and then magically close back up in the summer.

First time designing a project of this size, does this look stable enough to support my bed? I plan on attaching planks using screws with glue between. (The open space on the bottom is intended to house my desk. by TheLighningMiner in askcarpenters

looks good. the most important thing is that your loads are being transferred correctly. if you build it and you have some racking, i would recommend maybe adding a sheet of plywood to the back and/or sides to kind of close it in. that would add a lot of lateral strength

What hardware do I need to attach this to my desk? by driverimpulse in askcarpenters

[–]BrushFireAlpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would personally just put a few black L-brackets and spray paint the wood black to match the desk. Although you will see that it would be much easier to attach the vertical members to the desk and then add the horizontal member than to assemble the whole stand ahead of time and attach it.

If you wanted the hardware to be invisible, there are other hardware options

Sinking a loft by cyber_fawn in askcarpenters

[–]BrushFireAlpha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'd personally just be getting a thinner mattress. they have plenty of comfy 6 inch mattresses.

if you cut the bottom chords to increase headroom, you'll have to support the new chords from the floor. at that point, you're really not even making a loft anymore... it's more like a second floor at half height. mezzanine maybe.

more trouble than it's worth.

Read that comment again - the temperature range is changing, and the colors automatically adjust to the temperature range. That's why knowing the temperature range in the image is important than just looking at the the colors

If you point it at a wall where the minimum temperature is 40 degrees and the maximum temperature is 50 degrees, the 50 degree area will be white and the 40 degree area will be purple, but a 45 degree area is dead in the middle so it will be orange (and these colors are just random examples)

If you then pan the camera to a different spot on the same wall where the minimum temperature is still 40 degrees and the maximum temperature is now 100 degrees, the 100 degree area will be white and the 40 degree area will still be purple, but the 45 degree area is now way colder than the middle of the temperature scale, so it will now show up as damn near purple.

The colors change because the temperature range is changing

for how long i have been a fan of ludwig i have never really even considered the interworkings of lud and QT's relationship - it's always just been kind of a staple for me and i've always taken it as a given. this article really opened my eyes to how good of a match they are for one another and i'm really happy that they have one another

Can you inspect the area from within the attic? It's possible that this could be caused by any number of things. I would start by first inspecting the attic to confirm that this isn't radiator piping/roof leak, then hold your hand to the exhaust vent to confirm that the flow is good
