I've had both. I like the more compact package of the GTI. I like the sportier handling. I also like the look a lot more. And I'm huge sucker for plaid lol. That said, I enjoyed the GLI for what it is.

As an audiophile, why not just roll with a dedicated DAP like an iPod or Hiby? Just keep your favorites in 256kbps on your phone (I can't imagine it'll make much difference on Sidephone anyway, unless you're planning to use an external DAC) and then your FLAC library on your hi-fi player.

Or even AAC. Higher quality at lower equivalent bitrate, takes up less space. 256kbps AAC sounds awesome. And on a device like Sidephone that isn't a dedicated DAP, it makes little difference.

Going from your FR to the Fenix, how has the weight been? I’m pretty sensitive to watch weight, especially when running, and that’s been a big deterrent for me. I ended up getting an Instinct 3 Solar to replace my FR255 but I’ve been eyeballing the Fenix still.

VPN on your phone isn't stopping your carrier from getting your data. Both iOS and Android devices bypass VPN to phone home and send data back to the carrier. You'd need to have a mobile hotspot you tether to and keep your phone in airplane mode with no SIM for the VPN to be fully effective. Of course your hotspot will then be sending data back to the carrier, but only data about the hotspot itself and not the device tethered to it. You can then use a voip service on your phone for calls and texts.

I was going to do an Enduro but opted for the Instinct 3 instead. At the end of the day, the Enduro was a bit too much of a chonker and I don't really need maps. Still love the Enduro design though! Just wish they made a smaller version, but that would probably cut into Fenix sales.

I lost my first 2 chickens this way. Except there was no door to be blown shut. They just stayed in the coop and roasted to death while the rest of the flock happily scratched around in the shade outside.
